iOS because I've used an adroid-based phone and I hate it. I just don't like the look&feel of it. It's like runing a QT-framework application on MacOS. It's a pain in the a^^.

And as for price - I prefer to spend more on a Mercedes that on a italian Fiat. Those two cars will get you where you're going (although the latter may have some problems after a year) but it's the quality of the journey it's about ;)

The only thing about unhacked iOS is I can't install ScummVM on it. But wait... I do have a unlocked iOS installed, so it's just a problem :)

And thats how apple gets you hooked in. Pretty is a nice consideration, but its pretty low on the list for me. I want functional first, and the iPhones fail that more often than not.

Also, it doesnt seem like you've tried any of the Droids which blow the iPhone out of the water.

My considerations
Does it play Civ: iPhone
Can you have Verizon as a carrier: Droid
Can you tether it: Droid

Droid ATM because of carrier and tethering, in terms of the phone itself iPhone

As a phone, the iPhone is pretty goddamned low on the list, especially because of the carrier tie-in.

Yeah, this would be annoying, but here in Canada we've only got three major carriers, and all of them are terrible, and they partake in legal pricefixing. Doesnt matter who you go with, they've practically going to rob you with exorbitant data plans and hidden service fees.

If you're considering getting a phone this fall, you might want to consider Windows Phone 7, due sometime this fall. Previews indicate it's as slick as Android or iOS and is comparable overall, with some positives over them and some negatives. Initial U.S. carriers will be T-Mobile and AT&T.

I do agree with mdwh that this isn't a two-choice option; I know people who are excited about the new Blackberries, and they certainly aren't the media's favorite phones these days. Having cast my lot with a dumbphone with better multitasking than an iPhone 3G, though, I don't have extensive experience with any smartphone OS.

Who ever buys a Iphone and doesn't jailbreak it is making a mistake. Otherwise it ain't a bad phone from what all my friends tell me. I'm still pissed about the fact that there's only two viable choices and like 4-5 mobilephone makers. But I think I'll go for a Samsung with android anyway just due to the opensource and Samsung having better quality stuff IMO: more bang for the buck

At least iOS doesn't come loaded with Crapware that you can't remove
