College Bowl Prediction Thread

EDIT EDIT EDIT: How am I the only one posting? This is classic!

Honestly, I fell asleep at halftime. It was my first day of classes this quarter and I had them until 8:30 last night, so I was a bit tired. But I ain't gonna miss the USC-Texas shootout tonight.

That's okay. I'm embarrassed to admit that I momentarily forgot the Rose Bowl was tonight, made some plans with some non-football-watching friends, and now have to delicately back out of them . . .

Yeah, it would suck to miss this game, since there isn't gonna be another for quite some time. Saturdays are going to feel so empty for while. But hopefully the Buckeye hoops team keeps up their winning ways and makes a run at the final four this year.

There is no way I can watch this game.

I want Texas to win, but I know whats going to happen. Theyll take a 17 point lead into halftime...and like they ALWAYS do, USC will come back.

Notre Dame was the best chance for USC to fall, and technically they shouldve lost. Alas they didnt. USC beat history, beat everything going against them, I really cant say I expect Texas to win now that I slowly think everything over

Have a little faith. Texas can win. If they take a 17 point lead into halftime, they will win. They are not Oklahoma. They are not anyone else USC has played. They beat Ohio State at home. They can win.

I wouldn't pick them, of course . . .

@RedFusion: I never could get into basketball. Even if I enter a tourney pool I still don't watch the games, just the results. I'll try to get interested in the NFL playoffs, and Shaun Alexander will definitely help with that, but for me sports are pretty much over until the NHL playoffs roll around . . .

Yes, Texas is MUCH better than Notre Dame (though I'd love to have a chance to play the tOSU-Texas game over again!). Texas has the offense to move at will against USC, the only question is, how good is Texas' defense? As long as it can minimize the big plays and stay aware of the 4th down trick plays Carroll likes to run they can slow down USC's offense a ton.

@Ummm.....: Good luck trying to get into the NFL playoffs, I'm not really a big fan of the style they play there. Maybe it's the Endzone celebrations or the stupid red flag replay rule, the excessive marketing or the lack of crowd enthusiasm (I was at that Browns-Steelers debacle a couple weeks ago, ugggh!).
It'd probably help with following basketball if you had a particular team to root for (like my sister actually followed Kent State the year they went to the elite eight).

They didn't hurt you that much. You're just tied for first instead of alone.

Really everybody did pretty well though . . .

Yet another potentially interesting bcs game I miss because I have to go to school. Ugh.
USC wins the Rose Bowl, by the way.

Best any of us can finish is as a tie. Alcosta umm and I picked USC for the Rose Bowl. If USC prevails, we're all 18-10. If USC loses, we're 17-11. Since Fetus chose USC he can't move into the 1st place tie with a Texas win. Everybody else is out of the race with 12+losses

Not bad for only seeing a handful of these teams play during the season.

I wonder how well the old "which mascot would win in a fight" approach would've done in this competition . . .

condom wins by TKO in the 5th

The time is finally at hand for USC's winning streak to end.

edit: scratch that, Bloody leann rimes has to sing first

EDIT: first the officals have to get the coin toss wrong--texas wins, defer's and officals say they will recieve--sign of things to come?

That doesn't hurt Texas too much, as long as they manage to hold USC to a field goal here
