College Bowl Prediction Thread

I couldn't find a damn bar with the game. I might have found another Buckeye fan in this city :(

All I've heard all week is how the underdog does well in these games and Florida should be able to surprise them and yada yada yada. I'm not saying I'd be floored if Flordia did pull it out, but I'm expecting OSU to win, decisively.

Florida's been trying to portray themselves as an 2002 Ohio State underdog, but with nearly half the media picking them to win, it's no where near that.

Looking at the game though, I'm interested to see if Meyer comes out with his defense running man-to-man on Ginn and Gonzo, with blitzes up the middle. It's probably his best bet, modeling his defense gameplan off of what Penn State did.

Whatever he comes up with, this should be a close, good game tonight.

2002 OSU had a running game and a kicker. 2006 Florida does not.
2002 OSU didn't turn the ball over at key times. 2006 Florida does.
2002 OSU was undefeated! 2006 Florida? nope.

Advantage? TEH BUCKEYES!1!

It 'might' be a close game. I would like to see them blitz from outside too,
If Troy gets outside on them it could be a long night for Florida, of course
it might be anyway. I think whether Leak can handle the pressure is the
biggest factor, he will be forced to win or lose the game. :scan: Looking
forward to watching, though I don't like either team this year.

Leak is the man...thats all I have to say. This team will be back in a few years though, you can guarantee that. Meyer is a great coach, and Tebow should run his offense like it Alex Smith did. Harvin has the potential to be the best reciever ever at Florida...not to mention these top 3 recruiting classes every year.

Honestly, I think OSU will win handidly. Florida is too inconsistent on offense. It will be close at halftime, but OSU will pull away in the third. Pittman, Wells, Ginn Jr, Gonzalez, Smith...you can't contain them forever, great defense or not.

OSU is laying quite the proverbial egg. Barely any offensive yards, can't stop Chris Leak (perfect completion percentage I believe), and Meyer is pulling every trick out of the hat.

Michigan choked? OSU is looking terrible in this game.
Of course, if OSU pulls this one out, Tressel will become "the greatest coach since... Pete Carroll!" and how he is "infinately better than Carr at making halftime adjustments" (a claim I am hearing quite often at Michigan fanboards)

EDIT: TD Florida, they have now scored more points in 15:04 than I expected them to score in one game. Can't wait to hear how Craig James handles this, "I told you SEC was the best!" and whatever.

What. The. ****. Too many hookers over the last week, Troy?

5 left in the third and I'm off to bed. Hats off to Flordia. GG.

OSU = OWNED

41-14, and it wasnt even that close. BIGGEST blowout in National Championship history in my opinion.

Troy Smith, under 50 YARDS PASSING! NEGATIVE YARDS rushing for OSU!

Leake, almost perfect. THERE is your SEC speed, gentlemen. SEC is the best conference in America, with Florida being the best team. No ifs ands or buts about it. They withstood an opening kickoff touchdown and dominated the rest of the game like no one else has ever done. At least Oklahoma had decent yardage in the Orange Bowl blowout.

I really don't believe what I just saw.

One word for the Big 10.

PWNT !

Go Gators! :)

That was just awful. I have to believe OSU was better than that. Their biggest problem was keeping Smith upright, and I think if he'd had his go-to guy in there that would've made a little bit of a difference in his confidence level early. Not twenty-seven points of difference, but a difference.

And just think how close Florida came to not even making the trip.

As for the rest of it, it's obvious that OSU was vastly overrated, but I don't think we can exactly run around singing the 'SEC rulz!!!!!!1111!!!11ll!' song. We were still only 1-2 vs. the Big Ten, with Wisconsin trouncing the title game loser for the second straight year. Speaking of which, I wonder how OSU would've fared against Wisconsin if they'd had to play them, maybe in, I don't know, a conference title game? :mischief:

I know, but all we heard for four freaking months was how Ohio State and Michigan were clearly the two best teams in the nation and we were all idiots for not recognizing the obvious superiority of the Big 10.

Wisconsin was the most impressive of the Big 10 teams in the bowls. Penn State outcoached Phil Fulmer, but then again, Phil Fulmer could get outcoached by a cardboard Big Mac box.

Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think that Chris Leak would complete 75% of his passes, and OSU wouldnt even get 100 yards on Offense.

Not having Teddy Ginn hurt pretty bad...the WRs were unable to ger open all night, and that meant 3 and outs. Keeping our D on the field the whole night just tired 'em out, and Florida took advantage.

I just can't believe it. Even their ******** kicker was perfect!

Good game gators. Wow.

2 turning points in my opinion were Ginn getting injured and Tressel losing his
mind and going for it on 4th down near his own 30  --- I think he panicked, they were only down by 10 at that point. Florida took that opportunity and ran (and passed) with it. Florida was sharpe all night, OSU
looked like they had on ankle weights all night. I did find myself thinking
about how sick Red probably was during the game, I really hate when I have
all the anticipation of my team playing in a big game (whatever sport) and
they crap in their own hat  .

That was out of line and I'm sorry for it. I was mad when I posted that, I had just lost $50 (OSU leading at halftime) and was looking at loosing another $100 (OSU winning). $150 total. Luckily, that's Canadian so I really only lost $130.

What's worse is I made the bet with money I really didn't have :(

This is the first OSU game I've given up on since Michigan's 2003 win. Even then, I only gave up with a minute or so left.

I did find myself thinking about how sick Red probably was during the game,

Red is still in mourning, me thinks.

augurey, remember what the NCAA says!

... of course that didn't stop me from picking up 20 bucks :)

Nobody denies that the SEC was better. Even Big 10 fans know that. Why do you think Florida was in?

Hats off to the Gators. Nobody except the SEC homers had any faith in them, but they destroyed Ohio State. They definately showed they deserved to be in that game.

I still hate Urban Meyer though. :p

:vomit:

OMG!!! That was disastrous. As in

O-H....

...N-O!!

The game plan just didn't work. Heacock gets ALL the blame for this one. Playing a soft cover 2 nickel against the spread option was by far the worst thing to do.

It also hurt the offense and special teams losing Ginn.

Bottom line is, they looked and played like crap. [pissed] :vomit:
