Easy enough question, who should play Ohio State for the National Championship?

A. Michigan
B. Florida

I want to play Flordia. I think if we go on the 1 v 2 team, we should play Michigan.

Florida deserves the chance. Michigan already had theirs.

It's my opinion that only conference champions should be eligible to play in the NCG. Hopefully the BCS will add a rule to that effect soon.

I didn't realize Michigan already played in the NC game this year.

No, but had they beaten tOSU, they would have been in the NC game. It's as simple as that.

But that game was in Colombus. If Ohio State were true national champions, surely, they could beat them again at a neutral site?

Sure, then when tOSU beats them again, Michigan will say, "Oh, well if we get a -third- shot, we'll DEFINITELY beat them that time...."

And the fourth.. and the fifth.

Meanwhile Florida gets no shot at all because what, they didn't win by a big enough margin? That's ludicrous.

Florida won the SEC. They deserve to be in. Plain and simple.

No, if they lose again, then Michigan knows they've been beaten fair and square.

I agree with Florida being allowed to play, but under the circumstances, Michigan should go ahead of them. This is why College Football needs a playoff system.

And if Florida had beaten Auburn, they would have locked up a spot.

I didn't realize the BCS voters were supposed to vote for the best two teams that aren't in the same conference, or the best two teams that haven't played each other yet.

When you almost lose to the likes of Vanderbilt, South Carolina, and Florida State, it doesn't look good. You have to do more than squeak by mediocre teams if you want to go the NC with one loss.

Well, Boise State gets my vote, then Oklahoma, who should only have one loss after getting robbed against Oregon.

Ridiculous arguments by Shannon, Michigan squeaked by worst teams and margin of victory is not supposed to be a factor...ok, here is my case for Florida.

1. Florida won the more difficult conference! The SEC is head-and-shoulders deeper than the Big Two 1/2. Auburn at 10-2, LSU at 10-2, Arkansas at 10-3, Georgia with 8 wins, South Carolina beating Clemson and nearly beating every team on thier schedule. Tennessee fell off because of QB injuries but still only had 3 losses. Vanderbilt is probably the best cupcake team in the country, if that helps any ;) Florida beat the toughest conference in the country while Michigan finished second in perhaps the weakest of the "Big 6" (debate depth with the ACC all you want, thats about the only conference I'm willing to say is worse).

2. Florida played a much tougher schedule overall. Besides winning its own conference, Florida's schedule was tougher. It IS ranked number 1 for a reason, while Michigan's is ranked number 3. Look at Michigan's "big" wins. First, against Notre Dame, a team who has beaten NO ONE inside the top 25 now that GT has lost. Next, Wisconsin, a team that has beaten NO ONE inside the top 25! Florida's only loss came IN Auburn and they gave up 0 offensive touchdowns! So we want to reward Michigan for "coming close" against OSU? I don't think so, this isn't pee wee football, not everyone is a winner. It was a LOSS not a MORALE VICTORY.

3. Margin of victory is not supposed to be a factor! Everyone wants to act like Florida just barely escaped in all of thier games. Well, duh. It's the SEC! Michigan did not exactly blow everyone away themselves. Who is the team that could not put away Iowa, Northwestern, and BALL STATE in the Big Hous? Certainly not Florida! Everyone wants to kill them for South Carolina, but so what? Spurrier, big game, it basically WAS South Carolina's season. Everyone wants to kill them for FSU, but as you have seen, Florida keeps it close to the vest. Much like another championship team in recent memory everyone said had NO CHANCE *cough* Ohio State *cough*

4. Florida is just as good as Michigan. Thier offense gets it done and has speed with guys like Harvin, Caldwell, Baker, Wynn, and Tebow which gives UF a nice twist. Thier coach is excellent (he makes some stupid decisions occasionally but he is pretty good). Thier defense is perhaps the FASTEST in the country! They shutdown Arkansas' running game (for thier standards, they basically scored on fluke plays and trick passes), they shutdown LSU earlier in the season, and they are clutch in the...clutch. If you want to see another shootout, go for it, but Florida-OSU would be close and heart wrenching in a different way. Florida has the defense to disrupt, they have been tested unlike Michigan, who feasted on weak offenses from the Big 10 (until OSU, and look what happened).

5. Michigan...had....its....chance. They lost, its done, 'tis over. You can not SPLIT HAIRS about this! Florida and Michigan are so close numerically and in the computers that, if you somehow don't buy my previous arguments, you could atleast buy this. We are humans, we can not be trusted to make such a great leap of judgement as to say "well, I think Michigan is the better team." You CANNOT assume that! The only tiebreaker in this situation is that MICHIGAN HAD THIER CHANCE. Done, dead, over. Florida goes to the National Championship, Michigan gets thier Rosebowl. Still not convinced?

6. It's the reward and only positive for Conference Championship games! Sorry Michigan, you decided to take two weeks off at the WRONG time and that WILL hurt you. You know why? Because your athletic directors are too scared of being the next '96 Nebraska or '04 Oklahoma and will not make a Big 10 Championship game. The SEC, already a better conference top to bottom, does. THIS should be the reward! So many times its a hex, and its ruined many good seasons. This time, it should be the reason.

And I'm spent. Remember, I'm a Longhorns fan, not a Gators fan ;)

I didn't realize the BCS voters were supposed to vote for the best two teams that aren't in the same conference, or the best two teams that haven't played each other yet.

Well now you do.

Plus, let's look at the losses that Michigan and UF have.

UF lost by three, on the road, at Auburn. The 10-point margin was because of a Stanford-esque failed lateral return with seven seconds left. Should Florida have just knelt on the ball at that moment to "preserve" a close three-point loss? No. But realistically that was a three-point game.

Michigan lost by 11, on the road, at Ohio State. tOSU controlled.. CONTROLLED.. that game from the first drive on. tOSU played prevent defense up by two scores, allowed Michigan a score late to make it look close. Realistically, it was a 11-point game.

Ohio State would destroy Michigan in a rematch. Maybe tOSU destroys Florida, but at least it will be a game we haven't seen yet this year.

What will happen if Michigan is selected and they win? Does that automatically give them the National Championship?

I mean, OSU and Michigan would have the same record, they would have both beaten one another...

Does the winner of the NC Game automatically win the National Championship, or is there a final vote after that?

Actually, Michigan had the 3rd toughest schedule in the country. So, they're not far behind.

Yes, should Michigan win, they become the national champs. It won't happen, because my buckeyes should be able to wax either of those schools. Its basically going to be a home game for OSU...we've played our bowl in Arizona what, 3 times in a row or something? We're sending an army over there...it'll be like Columbus, only warmer.

I think Florida gets the shot. UM barely beat Northwestern and BALL FREAKING STATE, who is worse than any of the teams that Florida struggled with. The SEC is deeper than the Big 10 (although I am not willing to concede that its the weakest conference.)

I dont want to have a rematch. We'll get one next year (a game that Michigan will prob. win). I want to beat Florida.

Michigan's schedule is really really overrated. I already dissected thier "big" wins over Notre Dame and Wisconsin.

I hate ESPN, I swear I've heard that "and they walked into Colombus and nearly beat the number 1 team in the country" line 50 times today. ALMOST being the key word. ALMOST doesn't cut it.
