Colonies IV MP beta test

Steve, did you destroy all 4 Pikemen I had encamped outside Exeter? They have disappeared! How the hell did you destroy 4 vet Pikemen and two Sappers in a fort without loss anyway? Could you post your combat results, please? There obviously was a combat, because English Pikemen now occupy that fort.

Yes, I did, I moved acornucopia of units into Exeter but the clansman was particularly helpful.

I can 't remember the exact details but I will double check the save when I get a chance.

Considering that is the only counterattack that was worth a crap, I still dont feel too lucky.

No, fair enough, but you must have used quite a lot of units, and I would have liked to have known how they got on. Did you lose anything at all, or just have strength reductions?

I think I had all strenght reductions and I believe a clansman attacks more than once a turn if he hasn't used movement. but again John I need to double check.

I been god awful busy lately and it wont let up till after the weekend.

But I will check, trust me.

Yes, a Clansman has three moves, and if relatively undamaged could make two or even three attacks. Still, to have such little damage against those vet Pikemen is remarkable, especially as the Clansmen in Ipswich were overcome by one attacker. Nevertheless, it is quite possible, as Clansmen have high attack value, and high fire points, so if they are lucky they can do huge damage. They have low hit points, so if they lose a round they get badly damaged, but I guess they were lucky....Did you attack with Clansmen and Arquebusiers only?

I think so but have to check, and remember they were vets but I assume unfortified because you moved them in that turn.

Yes, they were (mostly) vets, and unfortified. They had a 50% bonus for the fort though. They were on Grassland, which is normal defence.

If attacked by a mix of vet and non-vet Arquebusiers, I would expect the results to be around 50/50 each way. The Clansmen are more of a wild card - depends how lucky they were....

P&P

no combats this turn. Spain is building an African army to counter-attack the lost of Santa Cruz.

Don't worry Steve, and take the time you need :b:

In Exeter, I had 3 Arquibisters, two in the yellow and one in the red, all are veteran except for one yellow one. I also had a veteran Clansman now in Yellow.

And if I remember correctly I took no casulties or at the most one.
