Community Patch for BNW

This instruction is confusing. It is implying that we should have already deleted the .DLL from Whoward's Combined DLL. No where in the instructions in the first post or on Whoward's Combined DLL page does it say to do this.

So do we delete Whoward's Combined DLL .dll file or not? If yes can that be put somewhere in the instructions.

Excuse me if I missed where it said that but I double checked and couldn't find whether to delete Whoward's Combined DLL .dll file or not.

EDIT: Great mod by the way. I am now gonna use it instead of the Communitas mod which seems to have died unfortunately.

EDIT2: Off topic but has anyone noticed that two of the options in the profile options for sex is "not specified" and "unspecified"? Seems sort of weird to have both of those options.

As a further question to my last post:

I know it says the patch gets ticked last. Does this include last after any picknmix mini-mods that we add?

Oohh!! a GitHub link. (insert giddy-school girl laugh)

Now the beast is taking form, "Igor check the weather. I'm looking for a storm tonight."

Jokes aside, I can't wait to get my teeth into this. Well done all.

Two pending questions:

1 - Is it feasible with DLL to make the creation of improvements or cities in water/ocean possible?

2-

Sorry Wodhann, missed this post.

I'm not sure. I think so? I have no idea how city or improvement graphics would work for that. We could look into it? I know you can use firetuner to 'place' cities on water, so I guess it is technically possible. I'll look at it when I have a chance.

Also, I see no reason why we can't compile the CP as a 'DLC' of sorts. We'd need to decide what of Whoward's mini-mods should be included in the DLC, as well as the inclusion of CSD/CivIVD. It can happen, but probably not until we get v1 out for both the patch and the balance patch.

Yes, you do delete Whoward's dll. The only DLL should be the Community Patch's. I'll update the first post.

Yep!

Yep! I haven't set up collaborator permissions yet, so send me a PM if you want permissions (that goes for anyone).

Cheers,

Thanks. It will be of great use to some mods - in fact if I remember well Colonial Legacies was trying to do something about a water structure but couldn't.

This is good news if possible. About the balance patch though, we must be careful when following this path - a multiplayer patch wouldn't really be modular as people need to have the same settings in order to play together, so we will need to reach a very high amount of consensus in what goes into the multiplayer edition of the balance patch and what is trivial, too "custom" or excessively subject to personal taste.

Is there any way that making diplomatic relations more modular...? The global limitation of three custom diplomatic values is really inhibiting. I believe that Putmalk's CivIV Diplomacy mod adds additional ones through his DLL. Perhaps it would be non-trivial to allow the addition of new diplomatic modifiers through Lua.

An answer to whether this is possible would set my mind at rest :)

I missed this in all the "balance" to-and-fro.

As there is now a sub-forum, questions like this can/should be in their own thread (that way I'll not lose them!) - I'll start a thread for it.

Forgive me if this has already been done and I missed it, but could it be possible to introduce the possibility (though don't necessarily make it the default behavior) of separating the counters for every type of Great Person?

If you mean the option to separate out the points needed for Engineers, Scientists and Merchants like Artists, Writers and Musicians already are, then yes, not only is it possible, but it'll be in the next DLL code release (I have it working in V52 of my DLL, I just need to port the changes into the CP DLL code base - which is a work in progress)

I was testing out one of my mods with the latest build of the patch and encountered an issue where the ReligionFounded event from whoward's custom events wasn't firing. It was working before the latest build, however. I'm not sure why, but thought reporting it might be useful.

Please let me know if there's any more information you need about the issue.

I disabled CSD to be able to choose production in the city, but I found another problem - in the diplomacy (upper right corner), I can't see the list of leaders I have contacted so far. Also, I can't trade because when I click, say, a resource or money, nothing appears on the table; it stays blank.

I will try to disable the diplomatic features to see if it solves the problem.

Did you try CSD v24? It seems to have solved the city-view problem for most users (it is the version I'm currently testing the mod with).

As far as the diplomacy and trade issues, CSD does not mess with the trade screen, so that sounds like diplomatic features. That said, I'd probably try clearing your cache, verifying Civ 5's file integrity and re-enabling all of the mods on a new game.

Interesting. I'll take a look – I haven't messed with that part of the code, but I'll double-check that it wasn't modified.

Yes, I tried both versions. I also deleted cache folder from my games... and re-enabled them. The only way to continue my game was to disable CSD.

When I disable Diplomatic Features, the diplomacy works normally (with the Community Patch).

Odd. What other mods are you using? Also, are you using the latest version of the Community Patch?

"DLL - Various Mod Components" (v51)
"Community Patch (V1)
"Civ IV Diplomacy Features" (v10.03)
"Diplomacy - CivIV Features" (v 1)
"City-State Diplomacy" (v23) (v24)
"Diplomacy - City States" (v 4)

Today, I also installed:

Diplomacy Values (BNW) (v 4)
Music Changer (v 1)
Culturally Linked Start Locations (v 4)

I will try to clean everything once again... I downloaded Community Patch yesterday, so it's the newest version.

Do you have v23 AND v24 of CSD installed? If so, delete v23. That'll cause all sorts of problems.

Also, Diplomacy Values has a DLL, therefore it will not work with the Community Patch. :badcomp:

In the MODS folder, the game created two new folders:

"a12c1ffc-58c4-4197-bc12-320533ecee53 (v 4)" from Diplomacy - City States (v 4)
"e293a791-74a1-45f5-beda-7921692ecbfe (v 1)" from Diplomacy - CivIV Features (v 1)

So I have duplicates. No sure if it matters at all?

I had NO MODS at all and the problems were the same yesterday.

In the upper right corner, instead of a list of leaders, I aways get:

Washington, Amercia
Status: Team 1

The rest is blank - no city states or civilizations listed.

I have disabled Diplomacy Values.

Diplomatic Features and CSD cause problems in my game.

I read it and tested the patch without other mods than those five I mentioned before.

That worries me. You have verified that your Civ installation is not corrupted, yes?

All I can say is that I can 100% guarantee that the Combined DLL, plus Community Patch, works as-designed if you follow the instructions on the first page.
