Community Patch - How To Install

[SOLVED]

Hi,

I have the same issue as @TheFabulousOxVegas. I have:
  • Deleted the game from steam
  • Deleted the files remaining in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Sid Meier's Civilization V
  • Deleted all the contents in C:\Users\Sergio\Documents\My Games
  • Installed the game fresh. The game is in English.
  • Installed Vox Populi (Included EUI) in one occasion and Vox Populi (No EUI) in the other
  • Enabled the mods in the corresponding "Mods" section of the main menu. Clicked next.
  • The expected "Configuring Game Data... Please Wait." message shows for a few seconds
  • Started a game
  • Nothing has changed, neither in the interface or under the hood. For example, agriculture doesn't enable shrine. Advanced settings doesn't give any option that wasn't there before.
  • The top bar is broken, as in the picture
I'm positive that the installation folders are the ones listed.

I have noticed that while Civ 5 CBP Wikia lists 6 mods:
  • (1) Community Patch (v. 88)
  • (2) Community Balance Overhaul (v. 13)
  • (3) City-State Diplomacy Mod for CBP (v. 27)
  • (4) C4DF - CBP (v. 11)
  • (5) More Luxuries - CBO Edition (5-14b) (v. 155)
  • A compatibility mod with number (6a), (6b), (6c), ... depending of your options.
I only get 5. Is this normal?
  • (1) Community Patch (v. 112)
  • (2) Vox Populi (v. 16)
  • (3a) VP - EUI Compatibility Files (v.1) (if installed with EUI)
  • (4a) Promotion icons for VP (v.6)
  • (4b) UI - Promotion Tree for VP (v.22)
Out of desperation, I tried the same steps with version 3.0.4. Identical result. So either Windows 11 is playing tricks on me or I'm macking some really stupid mistake.
Could you please help me, or tell me where to get every mod individually to debug this further?

Thank you

[SOLUTION]
After:
  • Enabled the mods in the corresponding "Mods" section of the main menu. Clicked next.
  • The expected "Configuring Game Data... Please Wait." message shows for a few seconds
A list of the mods installed will show. Don't click back, click directly on "Single player" right above the list. You are not suppossed to return to the main menu after you load the mods!
A list of the mods installed will show. Don't click back, click directly on "Single player" right above the list. You are not suppossed to return to the main menu after you load the mods! Yes this and now I can play. VP is SO MUCH better than Vanilla!! WOW !!

Vox Populi: A Community Patch Project
attachment.php

Newest Version:
3.2.2 (March 15, 2023)

Introduction:
Started in 2014, Vox Populi is a collaborative effort to improve Civilization V's AI and gameplay. Vox Populi is a collection of mods (see below) that are designed to work together seamlessly. The core of the project, the Community Patch, is a DLL-based mod that can be used independently of all other mods in the Project in order to improve your Civilization V experience. It does not modify any of the core game's content (such as leaders or buildings), but improves AI performance and addresses a number of bugs that remained after the final Civilization V patch. The Community Balance Overhaul (and all other elements of the Project), however, expands and changes the core mechanics of the game, offering an entirely new Civilization V experience that feels and plays like an evolution of the series.
Requirements:
  • Civilization V (.279 version)
  • Gods and Kings Expansion
  • Brave New World Expansion
  • All Leader DLC
  • Ancient Wonders DLC
  • Windows 7-10

Vox Populi Information:

  • Community Patch:
The single largest AI, Bugfix and API DLL for Civilization V. Is the base DLL for most Civ 5 mods that require a DLL. Contains bugfixes, AI improvements, and API enhancements for modders. No balance changes, and minimal gameplay changes are included. New DLL tables, functions and LUA events are included, however they are not used by the mod. Created by the Community Patch Project Team.

  • Community Balance Overhaul:
This mod completely overhauls the game by rebalancing policies, leaders, buildings, wonders, and more! Includes new systems, such as Monopolies and Corporations, and entirely new game concepts! Created by the Community Patch Project Team.

  • City-State Diplomacy Mod, by Gazebo:
Adds new ways to interact with City-States: Diplomatic Units, United Nations, Diplomatic Victory, City-State Quests, AI Difficulty and more. Created by Gazebo. You can find more information here.

  • Civ 4 Diplomacy Features, by Putmalk:
Adds Vassal States, Map and Tech trading, and more. Created by Putmalk. You can find more information here. Recently updated by Putmalk - see downloads folder below for the (4) standalone copy of C4DF (to be used alongside the CP).
  • More Luxuries, by Barathor:
Barathor's More Luxury Mod enhances gameplay, and is part of the CBP experience. Includes additional luxuries, with custom graphics and artwork, that expand the diversity of available resources in the game.

  • CBO - Compatibility Mod (EUI Version):
This mod makes the CBP and all mods listed after it (above) compatible. Use this version if you have installed the CBP version of EUI.

  • CBO - Compatibility Mod (No-EUI Version):
This mod makes the CBP and all mods listed after it (above) compatible. Use this version if you are not using the CBP version of EUI.
  • Promotion Icons and Promotion Tree
Adds unique promotion art for all new promotions (and some vanilla promotions) and a promotion tree viewer for all unit types in the game.
  • Enhanced User Interface:
Enhanced User Interface offers a complete rework of Civ 5's user interface. This mod is not required by the Community Patch Project, but most Project users prefer it. It is included with the Automatic Installer, but will have to be installed manually if you wish to use it with just the Community Patch. Please note that your decision to use (or not use) EUI changes what Project files you should install, and may include additional steps (such as the deletion of lua files). To download EUI, please click here: Latest EUI Version

Is there a reason the installer does not install (5) more luxuries and (7) when I select VP (with EUI) ?

I'm still confused, does the automatic installer install it or do I have to manually install regardless of my choices?

Hey all,

tried the latest community patch with civ5 ver. 1.0.3.144 (English language) on win 10.
I found a few bugs or installed something wrongly.

- Policy tree doesn't show up (others like research and faith are working). This makes the game stuck when I should pick a policy. (I can't select any, so can't end my turn.)
- On city screen I can see the following error on tooltip:
(3a) ... EUI_tooltip_library.lua:1591 attempt to perform aritmetic on local 'iAmount' (a nil value)
- Same error on research tooltips

I bet something is in a wrong directory or a setting is missing somewhere.
Do you have a solution for these?

(If I try to skip loading the eui mod the game starts with an instant defeat screen.)

Thanks.

Found another bug, hopefully the screenshot helps to find it.

Since the January update, my right side menus have completely disappeared. I can't see any event notifications, open windows or use spys. I reinstalled Civ 5 completely, but they're still missing. Any ideas how to fix?

I have used automatic installer to install Full CBP with 43 civ, but this is what happens when I try to start the game.
Base game works fine.

@kitfox ; That's a really nice start location for Rome.
Did you install EUI, or non-EUI?

Running the latest FP version (3.3.1 (March 26, 2023)). In the top left all the "normal" info (as far a I can remember, has been a while), doesn't show. It says it is turned off, but when mouse over, I get info about faith. Missing info on luxuries and can't find it anywhere else.

Edit: whoops, did not enable the mods by accident... Never mind guys ignore the above

Is there any reason the 3.3.1 installer would skip the (5) and (6) components like this? It just doesn't seem to add the files for them, for some reason

EDIT: never mind, reddit told me they were merged. The installer still has text saying there are 6 components so I was a little confused

Hello,
Is there any way to play with community patch + civ4 diplomatic features but not vox populi? I tried to figure it out on my own but to no avail.

Out of curiosity, where is this "downloads folder"?
Did you ever find this out?
