Community Patch - Modpack (Multiplayer Compatible)

Hello Lynnes,

I was stoked to discover this morning that you added the latest beta to the multiplayer modpacks. I was eager to test the numerous changes made since the 1-23 release with my friends...

However, it appears that, at least for us, this version is unplayable : a part of the UI is missing, as you can see on the screens attached.

Units don't have the usual selection circles and list of commands, which means we can't ask them to fortify or sleep or found a city with a settler.

I managed to found my capital anyways by using the shortcut "B". Unfortunately, as you can see on the second screen, the whole city UI is missing (citizen management, buildings...).

The problem occurs both in singleplayer and multiplayer, on multiple game attempts.
It happens both for myself and all of my friends.
We followed the usual easy procedure of putting the modpack in our DLC folder, and we of course deleted the old 1-23 modpack. We also made sure we don't have another EUI version which would cause compatibility issues...

I tried deleting the UI-bc1 folder to see if we could play with no EUI installed, however it of course didn't work (and broke other elements of the interface :lol: ).

As a result, we all reverted to the stable 1-23 release.

We would be very grateful if you could help us fix this problem ! :)

PS : By the way, we, as many others, have the barbarian problem : Leaving barbarians on makes us reload every turn... Hence we are forced to always play without them, which is a shame! Happens on any release, only in multiplayer.

I have removed the link to the beta for now, until there is a new, fixed version. :)

1st thank for the mod. I try it for the first time today but I have the same problem than beyondnooblike when I have EUI installed.

EUI work fine alone & the CommunityPatch too.

I use CommunityPatch only 1/23 & EUI 1.28c & I have deleted the files YieldIconManager.lua and xml.

I also tried the CommunityPatch in classic mod version for solo games & it work with EUI.

Tell me if you want more datas.

I asked Gazebo about the issue, and he told me that there is a bug with EUI and we have to wait for bc1 to fix it.
Please use the latest stable version (1/23) in the meantime, and I will upload a new beta as soon as the fix is available. :)

That's strange, I'm using CP as a modpack + EUI 1.28c myself, and it works just fine.


There is no need to delete the YieldIconManager-files anymore btw, this was fixed a few versions ago.

Just tried it again with the CP only 1/23 modpack + EUI 1.28c just to be sure, and I cannot reproduce the problem. Everything works fine for me, so there must be something else that is causing this.
 
I just report after many that for me and my friend, there are lots of desyncs. When playing without barbs there were only few and that's because of bad connection.

Latest 2-9 beta files have a few potential MP changes. I increased the timeout period for units breaking the sync model (was 100, now 1000). May result in slightly longer turn times, but also might help with units breaking sync (as 'forced' ends to turns can be problematic. I also removed the binom RNG model, falling back on the standard RNG, as functions that used it tended to be ones that were recurring issues for desyncs.

I also looked at your bugs and have implemented a few small tweaks. In short, you should try making a modpack with the 2/9 beta.

I'm using the files from your beta folder + C4DF and More Luxuries from the latest stable release + official 1.28c EUI

..and the Unit Panel is missing/ the units are not selectable

There's some issues in the DLL I'm waiting on before I upload (as they're potentially-MP-blocking bugs), so hiatus on that.

re: unit panel, not sure - since it all works w/o modpack, I fear it's a problem with EUI + modpack. Try no-EUI?

CBP No-EUI and CP only + EUI both work fine, only CBP EUI is causing this.

CBP-EUI creates the following errors:


Compatibility Files (EUI)\LUA\TopPanel.lua:500: attempt to call method 'GetGAPFromReligion' (a nil value)

Compatibility Files (EUI)\LUA\MilitaryOverview.lua:107: attempt to call method 'GetNumUnitsNoCivlian' (a nil value)

Compatibility Files (EUI)\LUA\TopPanel.lua:2083: attempt to call method 'GetYieldPerTurnFromVassals' (a nil value)


(with the last one being spammed the whole time)

Is the DLL being loaded properly? Those are all newly-added CP Lua hooks, but they're also working fine outside of the modpack. Hmm...

The MPMPM loads its own DLL in the process of the MP creation, but that shouldn't affect the final modpack afaik.

I uninstall & remove all Civ V files in steamapp & MyGames folder & did a new installation on steam.

When I install the CommunityPatch only 1/23 & EUI 1.28c, I still have the problem :(

I have one other problem, I start a new game in solo mode without EUI to try CommunityPatch & when I have finished the Liberty Policy it give me a great engineer. I never had the windows for the choice. I try this many times with IGE to test & I have the great engineer every time I finish Liberty.

Have you an idea what can cause this ?

I encountered this problem too. I think if you use the new beta versions that got newer version of EUI??? Because when you dont use beta but final release 1.23 plus 1.23 modpack its all working like a charm.
 
Hello,

Thanks for the new 2-09 modpack. I tested it with a friend, on two different games, with 6 AI, in simultaneous turns for the humans.

However, there appears to be a critical bug :

Sometimes, the AI will "crash", aka take forever to play its turn. And by forever, I mean forever (we let it run ten minutes, no change). Thus creating a deadlock.

The only solution was to rehost the game with an earlier save...

But the savegames are VERY unstable now (will often crash right after loading).

We started a new game, and the same bug happened... We were able to progress 2-3 turns further by reloading a previous save, but ultimately it always ends up with the AI freezing.

We were not able to progress past turn 70 despite multiple attempts :(

As it stands right now, MP isn't playable with AIs. Didn't test solo mode yet, but I suspect it would run just fine.

EDIT : Tested in solo, everything works just fine, apart from some Strings being displayed incorrectly (monopoly announcements, trade route tourism yields, etc)
