I did :scan:... chose 32-bit version for greater compatibility. Support also assured me that I could choose again during new installation. Thanks though.
 
You know when you see an image on a website, and you click to enlarge it? Well when I do this, then right click, I no longer see the option to automatically apply image as desktop image. I'd rather not have to go through the steps of saving it, then browsing for it, then applying it.

Any suggestions?

Ok, thanks :) I just got my laptop cleaned by my IT center for a trojan, and they changed some stuff around, so I wasn't sure if it was another problem. Now I know, thanks again Turner.
 
I've noticed certain brands of CD-Rs are more scratch-resistant than others. Is there a basis for this or just a fluke?
 
Depends on the formula of the plastic. It may also be batch variations. No industrial process can make something exactly the same every time, CD's included.
 
Well, the best example I can give:

Remember those CDs a while back that kept getting holes? Those were all Sony CDs. (It's what Mom got because they were on sale.)

I also have some Maxell CDs. I burned one about a year and a half ago and it still plays perfectly fine, despite dropping them and everything.
 
So I was looking for a replacement for my E2180 when I noticed that AMD has recently released a budget quad-core called Athlon II X4 920

Is it worth getting? The CPUs I'm considering are
- Pentium Dual-core E5300, 62€. Probably not much of an upgrade from the E2180. 45nm is nice but eh
- Athlon II X4 620, 93€. Review here: http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=3638
- Core 2 Quad Q8200, 128€. The cheapest C2Q but the 7x multiplier sounds bad

X4 620 looks like the best choice to me. Opinions? And don't bother recommending anything more expensive, I'm on a student budget here
 
Well, the thing about the Q8200 is that your current motherboard should support it. For the X4 620 you would need a new motherboard, so your price goes up to ~150 Euro.

Do you have a real need for a quad core? With your budget, why not stick to Dual Core? An E8400 is 170USD on newegg, which is about 115 Euro, right in between the 620 and Q8200. Itll also be faster for most tasks as its got a much higher clock speed. Unless you have specific quad-core optimized apps that are critical to you, I suggest you go with something along the lines of an E8400/8500

What is the unidentified network then? (It's still there.)
 
Are you using wireless? If so one of your neighbors has an unsecured wireless router that your pc can see, but does not have a great connection with.
 
I have a wired internet.

It came up after my mom turned the router off and back on (she was having fits again).
 
Reset the router and see what happens?

BTW, didn't you get a new computer recently? Does it have an integrated wireless capability?
