Conquest of the World

Tlaxcala is actually Greek. The word "Ottomans" should be moved a few pixels to the right.

The Japanese DoW'ed either the Americans or Mayans a few turns ago, and lost their city in the Rockies as a result.

Tlacopan is not the last Aztec city. They have one other city on Cuba, and, last I checked, a city or two on Hawaii.

It's the culture borders that make it look Ottoman, not the word "Ottomans".

I thought they also had another one on an island in far nothern Canada, the one with the English city...

Rush a marine or two in Central America and capture Cuba from the Aztecs. Then anybody trying to force you off America will have a helluva hard time doing it. Also why is there a huge hole of neutrality right in the middle of North America? Try to settle it.

Good idea- they can also capture that Hittite city on Hispanola (Hubishna?).

The huge hole is probably caused by the numerous wars and city changes that have occured in that area- once the core of Carthage and Arabia.

Remember, he's at war with everyone in America except the Americans. Settling's gonna be pretty hard.

Actually, more likely is the fact that the Japanese city was just recently destroyed, and the other small empty spaces were taken by America and Maya. :p

Yes, I changed my title as Qu sugjested.

no, that empty spot could be a bunch f mountains and no-one's gotten around to settling it.

BTW:Quint: I noticed through the MapStat utility that Greenland is not ALL tundra, thus any civ could build an empire from there. ;)

Also, can ANYONE explain to me why a saved game from an older comp (1998-2001) Dosn't work on a newer comp (2005-2006)? It's one of my best games, and strangely, all the other saves on that old comp work on the new comp. What is the meaning of that?

First guess would be a corrupted save file, since the other saves work.

Otherwise, just some basic steps to narrow down the problem:

Same OS on both machines? (Probably not, but could be).

How was the file moved to the new machine? (floppy vs. network)

Do other files from that same folder work in the new machine?

Does that file still work on the old machine?

But this issue really belongs in the Technical Support of the forum. More people will look at it there than here.

I think so; the old comp is off for now, but I'll check.

It was moved via thumb-drive.

Yes, the other saves work, just not this one.

And yes, It works on the old comp.

And I know, It's just my mind was on this saved file stuff that I just sliped it in my post. ;)

You are going same version of civ to the same version of civ? Same update and all that?

Anyway, so you're at war with the Byzantines allied with the Persians? Why did the Byzantines backstab like that?

Yeah, I realized that that happened a while ago, but I've been re-reading and I just realized it... It just hit me.

Oh well, one can never truly explain the complexities of the AI. At least I can't.

It's only a matter of time before TEH AMERICANS backstab. :shifty:

After all, they are trying to conquer the world right? Oh wait, it's not 2001 yet. Well when it is, and Bush is elected El Prezidente...

I guess they figured I was too powerful - and that might be the case .

Lincoln? Backstab? Never. I hope. And for it to occur in the 2000s is even less likely - by then war with America will likely have already been declared.

Will be checking out avatars shortly - I default to avatars disabled, and thus don't usually see them.

...and just thought you might be asking about an update. I haven't played for several days - the story here is up-to-date with where I've played to. I might play Wednesday night, Thursday is rather busy, and Friday/Saturday/Sunday are all possibilities. After that it will decrease for awhile, though, because the end of next week means the beginning of finals for me. Two weeks from Dec 4 marks the end of the semester, and after a few days of partying thereafter, Civ should return to the picture for a few days. Then it's visits with family (approx Dec 24-27), and with the gift exchange on the 28th, I rather doubt Civ will be at the top of the queue of games for awhile. Three years ago Age of Empires II stole Civ's thunder for a few months - though Civ did later overtake AoE again.

Yes- when I got it, it cut out of my AoEII Playing time, though AoEII came back for while, Civ prevailed in TEH END. :D

I have no Idea about the updates; I don't keep track of that stuff...

anyway, The byzantines backstabed because that's what the AI does. It's a realistic part of game play too. (I find it amusing... )

Problem is they backstab only when pressured by a former enemy or just an enemy they're not at war with, not to take advantage of your troops being focused elsewhere.
