Title, for me it is realistically going to be rather late April for various personal reasons which I don't wanna sacrifice for a video game

Kinda annoying ngl I would like to experience this game on its very release time, though it was the same with civ5 and civ6 OG releases with a 2-3 month delay each time, so it's a tradition at this point I guess

Frustrated delayed civ fanatics assemble!

(inb4 fortunately the game's going to be terrible anyway :D )

This. I know I will enjoy the game on Feb 6, but I won‘t have much time in the first two weeks. Hence, I will play 1-2 games and hope that there will be some patches coming already. Waiting 2 months almost guarantees some patches.

I have the opposite problem. I pre-ordered so will get the game on 6 February. But then I have to pry the most I can out of it in playing time, because in April Farthest Frontier is supposed to be released, and I am looking forward to playing that after putting almost 600 hours into the pre-release version over the past year plus.

Then later this year Anno 117, the Roman Anno and a first for them (all previous Anno games have been late medieval or later periods) has been announced, and that will suck all the rest of the oxygen out of my gaming time.

Oh, and the little matter of finishing up the 900+ page monster book that Jack and I have been working on for years: I have about 200 pages of documents to finish translating and 3 chapters to write and that really has to take priority over any games.

- Probably at the expense of time for sleeping, eating, and other trivialities . . .

Sort of the same. KCD2 drops February 4, but I'll have hardly any time to play it until my current work project ends...February 6.

Don't worry, I'll play the game on the 6th in a horrible state and won't have fun until a few patches by which time you'll be playing too...

I'm not assuming I'll be able to play on Feb 6th. I'm assuming I'll check to see if it will download the night before, it will say "Wait until Midnight" I will wake up at 5 AM and try it. I will get back from work and the installer will say " Download stopped at 17% Resume?" and do that for a few days until I'm lucky I can even play by the weekend.
I am hoping Download is through steam directly and not a 5 Byte file that opens a different installer that is awful and never connects properly.

We'll be the hotfix-brigade for you. Once you arrive several patches will have come in and it'll be smooth sailing, all four you fellow fanatics!

Download will be through steam if you buy it there, and it continues downloading while you are away provided you don't shut down the computer, put it in standby, or close your internet connection.

The requirements state 25 GB of disk drive. Usually, the download is a bit smaller than that. Now, I don't know what internet speed you have access to, but I doubt that you need multiple days to finish this. If you can watch a YouTube video in HD quality in real time, it shouldn't be longer than an hour to download the 20-23 GB game files.

I have two small children :crazyeye:
I suspect my wife is (very generously) going to take the kids and let me binge early release weekend but other than that gaming time is wherever I can eke it out.

Ironically, that is often during the work day, as there are plenty of meetings I have to attend but the relevant parts for me are very short.

Thanks, I'm assuming so long as it is in steam I'll have it in an hour or less.
I've had bad luck with some of these companies that use separate installer the last little while, it's a struggle of "make sure the computer doesn't sleep, make sure I don't sneeze on it.

Does anyone know if "Pre-loading " will be available? would be nice to download it early and just launch it nicely when I get home from work.

No worries, we others will make sure to keep you informed about everything right and wrong with the game in the meantime. :D

Me: “Sweet, I can put some hours into Civ 7 before joining the Monster Hunter Wilds demo/open beta.”

Capcom announces that the second open beta starts on Feb 6th.

You gotta be kidding me.

I'm slated to be somewhere in the grand canyon when Civ gets released, followed by climbing in red rocks and a road trip. So a little frustrating with how the timing worked out, but probably don't cry for me :)

Double edged sword since you miss the window of broken mechanics sometimes. RIP Civ 6 horse economy and overlapping IZs
