You might look at a map of Wales. Really cool city/village names there.
Watching an euro-cup football event, I got to know a team from Wales named Cwmbran Town.

Chililibombwe (a small town in Zambia)

And I suppose someone has to say it:

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

A village in Wales which translates as:

Saint Mary's Church in the hollow of the white hazel near a rapid whirlpool and the church of Saint Tysilio of the red cave.

Edit: Llanfair etc etc is one word but when this post is displayed it splits it into two

If these city names are your ideal of beauty, I forbid you to post in the Babe Thread.:cringe:

I once visited wales and travelled to Anglesey. There we find the town of LLainfairpwylgwyngyllgilianwyrlndropgaliongogogoch. Or at least someting like that.... I learnt it by heart at the time....

I like the name of the city I live in: Officially it is called 's Gravenhage. It means Den Haag van de Graaf (The count's Hague) or mostly just Den Haag. We also call it De Residentie (The Residentia), as our queen lives there and our government is in Den Haag too.

Anothe city name I like: Petropavlovsk Kamtsjatksi

My dad was raised in a town called "Kake." I always liked that.

And don't forget "City on the Edge of Forever." Oh. . . sorry. That was a ST:TOS episode. But it would be a cool city name.

I always liked "Brevard, NC" and "Tucumcari, NM."

I always laugh at Wetwang & Thwing. (places in Yorkshire, England)

(Although it is a region, not a city) I have always thought Xtremadura is a beautiful name for a place.

Medicine Hat
Addis Ababa
Hell (michigan)
Accident (maryland) the town waiting to happen
and my favorite PA towns: Innercourse, Blue Ball, Paradise, and Bird in Hand. (I am not making this up)

I've heard about Hell. Apparently they have a marathon to a neighboring city called the, "Run from Hell." Also travel brochures that say, "Go to Hell." I'm not sure if any of this is true as I got it from a Michigan native, and even though he converted and went to OSU, I still am suspicious.

As for one of my favorites, I've always liked Marseilles. Katmandu is pretty cool too.

sounds more like vogon poetry to me ;)

I like novosibirsk for some reason

I quite like the town of our lady, the queen of the angels, of the small portion and the royal town of the holy faith of St Francis of Asissi. Their original Spanish names sound much better but alas my Spanish is rather poor.

Eureka California
Bozeman Montana
Baton Rouge Louisiana
Bangor Maine
Tupelo Mississippi
Roanoke Virginia
Teluride Colorado
Laconia New Hampshire
Wilkes Barre PA
Omaha Nebraska

There's a small village in the dutch province of Friesland of which the name combines 2 of the better things in life:
It's called: Sexbierum :D

Sex & beer in the name of a town, what more can you ask for....

Jerusalem
Paris (French pronounciation)
Buenos Aires
Valencia

I thought the first city was Jericho...

The name I like is the New Zealands native name, Aotearoa, which means 'land of the long white cloud'
