While The Emperor of all Russians was preoccupied reading dispatches from the west the dastardly Swedes apparently attacked Russian traders, ships and troops causing several casualties! Russia had not yet considered it's designs regarding the Finnish question but Sweden has decided for all. Just as Gustav III did in 1788 by starting a foolish war, Gustav IV has done so again. It is war, undesired, but Russia will defend itself.

In Italy, the French capture Livorno, and skirmish with independents in the countryside.
In Switzerland, the French capture Zurich. Interestingly, both this and Livorno offered ~60 gold each as plunder, which is strange for barbarian cities. I thought they didn't have a treasury to plunder...
