COTM 15 Pre-game Discussion

I'm thinking of giving this one a try... my first one that is!

I have a question on upgrade from Elephant to Cavalry :
What happens to the extra HP of the Elephant?
If it is removed, is it worth upgrading?

I'm pretty sure it's removed. But whether you upgrade depends on whether you value the 1 extra hp or the 2 extra attack. Personally, i like the 2 extra attack

I guess it would be here I say I gonna play too??
heheh
Well I'm gonna give it a try!

Never mind the extra attack, the extra move should be enough to make the upgrade worth it. Knight class -> cavalry class is a laughably cheap upgrade too, at only 20g. Of course, you'd keep all your 6hp elite elephants.

:wallbash:
I forgot about the extra movement. That definately makes it worthwhile

Knight/Elephant (70sp) -> Cavalry (80sp) is 30gp in C3C, not 20 (as in Vanilla/PtW).

Of course this means that Conquest-class players will have to pay more (60gp!!) to upgrade their Jumbos to Cavalry, and still a whopping 90gp for the Horse->Jumbo upgrade.

Let's hope someone close will cascade to Leo's just in time for the massive upgrade [pimp]

Oh, yes.
I did spend some time thinking about that. In the end, I decided that this does represent an advantage -of course, I'm waiting for the game results to prove I was completely wrong... ;)

After a long long time planning to play civ., don't know yet will get time to finish on time.

7 civs. could be: Mangol, Arab, china, japan, Russia, portugese, Britain

:king:

OK, just to help me out (I'm new on the GOTM concept): I just have to download the savegame, win the game and then submit the last savegame?

That's pretty much it.

Though there is also the QSC (Quick Start Challenge), where you keep a semi-detailled log of the first 80 turns (up to 1000BC) and submit that with a 1000BC save. This is purely an optional item, with no awards. Just a chance to compare your start to that of other players.

You do not have to win the game. You can loose it or you can retire and then submit.
So you need to download a game, play it till some point (victory, loss or whatever) and submit.

P.S.: Sorry for posting here (I downloaded the save), I hope it is OK.

Welcome :wavey:

When you have won/lost the game, submit a final manual save made AFTER the victory parade. Click "Lemme play a few more turns" and then save the game. That way we get a save that includes your victory condition and final score. The only exceptions are if you lose by conquest or you retire then you need to indicate this at upload time and submit a manual save from the last turn you played.

Upload the final save using the Submit GOTM page.

Please read the game rules before you start, the most important of which is No Reloading to Change an Outcome ... Ever. Also please note and honour the conditions for visiting spoiler threads and posting spoiler information.

OK, thanks guys.

Let's see what I end up with.

I had an idea to play this game the Sword_of_Geddon's Khmer/Ankor cities found here. It should add some spice to the game. :)

I'm going to give that a try. Although I had trouble getting even the S00py graphics to appear... It didn't work and I never thought twice about figuring it out...

just be sure to make a backup of your rASIAN.pcx and ASIANWALL.pcx files in Civilization III/art/cities.

EDIT: check page 2 of the thread for a corrected ASIANWALL.pcx file.

Sooo... you're suggesting manually replacing the in-game graphics files. I always assume there's a way to click to everything from within the game itself.
