Hopefully you were able to put the minor civs in their place and carve out your empire by the end of the AA. Still there's the remaining normal civs on your continent, and a whole 'nother continent to contend with. How are you doing through the Middle Ages? Are you on schedule for glorious victory, or is there still some work to do in the later Ages?

Open, 20K, not expecting to win

Well, I had a nice little empire going until I blew it. Now it is littler.

The Apache got ganged up on fairly early, and I jumped in and snagged Cuzco at the very end - it had colossus and great lighthouse.

I was heading to free artistry with a nice prebuild going in New York when I noticed that the Cherokee had saltpeter, which I wanted to get before they got gunpowder. They went to war with the English, and I watched hordes of units go south. I waited a bit, and then thought I'd sneak in and attack while all their units were far away. Unfortunately, they hadn't gotten very far - I don't know where they were, but they were back almost instantly. I lost several cities very quickly and later gifted some more away to far away AI with poor culture, in hopes of getting them back via culture flips. I allied the Sioux, which helped for a while, until they got ganged up on. I wasn't happy losing the cities, but what was worse was I lost enough to shrink my palace prebuild at a time when I couldn't do anything about it, and New York ended up with a palace instead of ST. I thought for a while that this was going to be the end of me, but I'm still alive. After I'm done, I think I'll go back and see what happens if I don't start this ill-advised war.

I did manage to get ST and Bach's.

The Iroquois are starting to run away with things.

The Iroquois also are the superpower in this game.

I think I left the last spoiler, when I just had revolted to Republic. Well, bad luck continued in the Middle Ages: just on the last turn of my 7-turn anarchy someone declared war an me and I didn't get any war happiness. In fact, just 3 turns after being Republic I felt already very happy war weariness from this war?? Don't know why, they didn't have any units in my territory, nor had I heavy losses so far?! Anyway, I had to go 50% lux for a long time, until I had finally taken them out.

Then I thought I had my game up and running with a nice "dual-core" (FP in Chichén Itza) and started my Golden Age with a Bach's Cathedral in Washington. (Had captured the Pyramids in Tenochtitlan and Colossus in Cuzco). Attacked France and took three towns, when suddenly the Iroquois (who were friendly up to then) sneak attacked with a stack of ~30 units. I lost the French cities and Tenochtitlan (including Pyramids), before I was able to stop the offensive. If I didn't have a GA at that time, they would have rolled me over. Now it's 690 AD and I'm still not making any progress. This would still be a very long-drawn uphill struggle, so I'm quitting here.
