OK, your advantage against the AI expires during the Middle Ages. Were you able to use Berzerks and Galleys to your advantage? Did you otherwise establish a Viking presence on other lands not accessible to the AI? Going forward, are you in the lead and directing the action, or is there more work to be done against the AI?

I'm not used to playing as the Vikings. So far there seems to have been a great need for military haste. Unfortunately I've not been quite fast enough. As I enter the IA I'm far behind the rest of the world in tech. I've chosen to invade NE into French, German, English and Celtic land. I've cleared off the French and the Germans but still have England and the Celts to go. Note the German campaign got bogged down considerably because I neglected to have settlers on hand early on and many back flips occurred. The Celts are flashing Riflemen and England has infantry. I'm planning on using cannon, Bezerks and cavalry. So slow against England though, and the Celts are far less accessible. On the other continent the Maya are clearing out the Arabs and are the world leaders, with the Inca just behind. So it looks like a typical game of mine where I eventually end up gaining enough land to lead the world in overall score and power, but lose to Culture or SS because I just never caught up in tech, and was too slow militarily to get to 66% acreage. I have started to science farm the German land but I lack many city improvements in my core (I do have the FP though) and WW is always a problem because I'm in Republic (9 turn anarchy ) (should I have chosen Monarchy?). I guess I'll slog on but I really need some kind of plan. Anyone see something obvious I'm missing?

I've only played as the Vikings twice. Once in a COTM Sid game where I didn't find them too helpful () and once in a random archipelago were they really came in handy.

Just a few turns after eliminating the barbarian threats, I spotted an Indian caravan exploring and knew that I was no longer safe from the other AI's. As I was preparing to try to invade the French, the Maya made a surprise landing which I had to waste time dealing with.

By the end of the Middle Ages, the French were gone but I was way behind everyone else in tech. Two of my cities had flipped and I was not to happy about the prospect of sending Berzerks against Riflemen.
