This may sound simple but it worked amazingly for me.
If playing with many AI players(4+) then odds are they wont all be at war with each other. But if most are in communication then when you trade techs trade every tech to everyone.
This way 1 new tech can be sold for multiple rewards and you dont really lose much because odds are the first guy you sell it too would soon trade it and so you'd lose out.
Conversly if you trade for a tech immediately trade it with all other friendlies because if you dont someone else will. Because of this you should often pay more than the tech is worth because of its resell value.
By constantly selling out like this i was making huge per turn 'information tithes' more than my domestic commerce income. This allowed me to massively beef up my research and army and scare off any enemies.
Because youll be leaching off the other civs so much it will self perpetuate and as you gain more tech and power they will become ever more reliant on you for the intellectual properties......then one by one you pull the plug when the good weps come up.
