crash early game phase

Hello,

i started a few days ago CIV 5 the first time under windows 8, steam dl with patches. No matter what i choose(dx9, 10,11, touchscreen) on startup always the sam thing happens:

I get into the game, can start it, can make some rounds and then CTD. Every single time, i never go past round 50 sometimes earlier(round 20) sometimes later(latest was round 50).

I cant reproduce it because i dont now what happened:

- sometimes i finish a research
- declare war
- choose a religion...

Anybody similar problems or a solution?

HD 5850 ATI, 6 GB RAM, Phenom II 965 BE(quadcore)

I don't know, but your PC looks perfectly good enough to be able to play it.

Yup. That sucks.

Civ is with a lot of game-breaking CTD and no solution until this point.

I'm having a very similar issue... For me the trigger (most often) seems to be the 'Diplomacy' screen on meeting a new civ for the first time... I have no idea why, I *did* have the leader scene at max quality, and am now trying it on a lower setting...

Maybe a general lowering of graphics setting will help (I'll let you know if it works for me)?

UPDATE:
I have "resolved" the issue on my end, I am able to run with the Diplo screen a max settings and can run most mods safely... So long as I don't run one *specific* mod... R.E.D. v.23 - Unfortunate since back when it worked it was one of my favorite mods...
