Creation Museum

Because Creationism focuses on before the Fall - that supposedly was when Adam and Eve hand-fed dinosaurs, and that is when they were naked. If they say that dinosaurs started eating meat after the Fall, and that is when Adam and Eve got clothes, it is inconsistent with their beliefs to mix the two periods up.

'Cause, ya know, if actual accuracy is too much to ask for, the least they owe us is internal consistency.

But if you read closer to the story of Adam and Eve. After they ate the apple, they gained knowlage of Good and Bad and became shameful of their nudity.
I dont see how that would have to do with Creationism.
So if Adam and Eve are being shown and no nudity is involved are we to assume that it is post-apple and that a certain segment of the story is being censored?

There might be a simpler answer - they were covering Adam and Eve only to keep the museum rated G (perfectly understandable, given the sensitivities of their target demographic). ;)

I see the museum as legitimate in that it is a clear worldview based on consistent, and sometimes in the museum scientific, opinions.
Can you describe some of these scientific opinions?

As for discrediting science, the museum seemed very much respectful of science. One exhibit was the "Hall of Wonders" which displayed videos of different parts of the creation, detailing complex systems like "Flight" "the Eye" "Natural Laws" "Building Blocks."
By repsectful of science, I think it would more mean respect toward the scientific establishment and the methodology of science rather then what appears to me to be respect for nature.

It's as valid as any other viewpoint. The Theory of Evolution is nothing more than just another Theory on the origin of life. As with Creationism, which is another theory of the origin of life.
That's incorrect, my friend. The theory of evolution is a longstanding scientific theory, creationism simply is not. It doesn't have the same intellectual rigor as evolution and was not built through consensus by the scientific establishment.

There's a lot of garbage here, like the dumb assumption that magnetic fields only decrease in strength which from studies of Earth is rediculously false.

The people would be offended by God's idea of Paradise on Earth?

Oh and I suppose that you want me to kill myself as well because talking to me is a waste of time?
Chill man. That's not what I'm saying at all.

Why's everyone getting worked up over a story?

If I truly wanted to be hand-fed some brainwashable fiction that is of no use to science nor mankind, then I would just watch the Teletubbies every morning at 7:30 on PBS. But I don't.

Why's everyone getting worked up over a story?

Because people seem to think said story is somehow as reasonable and accurate and scientific if not more, as something that has been supported by a large quantity of evidence. And said people know next to nothing about science but pretend as though their the ultimate authority on it.

This thread is pretty much a perfect example of why YECs feel assaulted and insulted. Surely folks can learn to say

"I think the museum's central premise is incorrect, as a variety of scientific evidence goes contrary to their 'Earth is 6000 years old' assertion."

instead of

"They're idiots and shouldn't be brainwashing people with fairy tales."

@Perfection - Cant you read?! I was playing Devil's Advocate for crying out loud!!

SHESH!!!

I am not a YEC nor do I advocate the viewpoints of a YEC!

That or censorship is involved to ensure our children are not exposed to nudity. I dont know, all I know it's just a symbolic story not to be taken so litteraly.

This is the last time I play Devil's Advocate again -_-

Especialy the one's who play Devil's Advocate feels assaulted and insulted.

While I agree with you on that particular case, I seriously hope this will not come down to "let's give equal time and equal treatment to YEC's arguments".

Hey CG, nobody asked you to play DA... It's something risky and you knew the risks when you started it. Chill out :)

So you do not agree that the museum is brainwashing people with incorrect, fictional material? If I told a YEC the first one, the response I would get most likely would be "You are wrong. It says such and such in Thessalonians 1:12"

If I say the second one, it sends a similar, more powerful message (imo) that does not allow the YEC to simply disagree.

I remember the new Creation Museum being a very hot topic of discussion a while back. Curious, my family decided to take a detour on our vacation to Chicago to pay Ken Ham's museum a visit in Hebron, Kentucky. I'm glad I did.

The Museum wasn't what I expected at all. I'm not as much into the whole YEC field as much as some people of my faith, but the Creation Museum really presented their viewpoints consistently and legitimately. It wasn't just some roadside attraction either, it really seemed to present the creationist opinion with a professional quality. I had a lot of fun. It was very well-run too, and the animatronics, exhibits, and huge garden grounds were admirably kept.

I just thought you all would like a first-hand perspective when most of the information about the museum is rumor and controversy. If anyone needs anything clarified, feel free to ask. :)

Hey doesn't Kansas have tornadoes? If we're lucky maybe it'll get hit by one....

But then the museum that is located in Kentucky would be left unharmed, while innoccent people in Kansas are swept away like Dorothy.
