Palacio del Governador, Marseilla, Cerdania, Kingdom of Tartessos, 28th February, Year 1053 of the Kingdom
King Petro was in the Palacio del Governador of the region of Cerdania, having been sent a message by King Flavius of Milan through the ambassador of the country, that he wished to talk personally with him. He supposed this had to do with the war with Russia, which had started a few months ago, and King Flavius wanted to discuss the plans with him and his generals. Which was the reason why he had travelled to Cerdania, where King Flavius had requested the meeting to be held.
In that moment, King Petro saw a herald. "Entering King Flavius VI and his entourage."
"Let them pass, herald."
The herald bowed and retired to a side, just as King Flavius, alongside his wife and part of his higher court.
"Greetings, King Flavius and Queen Eleonora. I hope that you are well," King Petro said, bowing.
"Indeed we are, King Petro. Where is Queen Andrea?" Queen Eleonora replied.
"I fear that she felt ill, and didn't come here. She is currently resting in Tartesia, and I am hoping that she will recover soon."
"When you come back, please do give her our condolences, as we would have liked to talk with her."
"I will, don't worry. Now, what is this matter you wished to talk about?"
King Flavius gave one step forward, unsheathed his bronze sword, and kneeled in front of King Petro.
"I, King Flavius VI of the Kingdom of Milan, give you, King Petro the Twelfth of the Kingdom of Tartessos, my royal sword, made of the best bronze of our mines in the Veneto, and my royal crown, made of the first gold our ancestors extracted from the mines in the Alps, in signal of our capitulation to the mighty Kingdom of Tartessos and our wish to be a part of it..."
King Petro was surprised by this. He would have never expected that Flavius would surrender his kingdom to Tartessos, and even more that he was doing this way.
"Raise, King Flavius. Why are you doing this? I would have thought that you would prefer to be an independent kingdom, in fact I would have preserved your independence if you had wished to."
"We are realist people, King Petro," Eleodora said. "It is true that we are an old kingdom, and that once we were great among others, but we have realised that the Kingdom of Milan holds no possibility to survive in these times, not even if we had counted with the help of your Kingdom."
"That's why both of us decided that it would be better if we surrendered the kingdom on our own terms, not to wait for any other nation to attack and subjugate us."
"I understand," King Petro replied. "I, King Petro the Twelfth of the Kingdom of Tartessos, accept the sword and the crown of King Flavius VI of the Kingdom of Milan, and with them I accept the territories of the Kingdom of Milan into the Kingdom of Tartessos, to be protected as an integral part of them. These territories will, from now on, form the Region of Milano, and I name thee, Flavius Priscus Rex, its first Governador."
Flavius Priscus Rex - formerly known as King Flavius VI - was surprised by this gesture. He had hoped to retire to a house he had bought in secret a few months before to live in there next to his wife and children, but King Petro's move was allowing him to stay in the small palace where all of his ancestors had lived ever since the Kingdom of Milan had been established.
"I thank you for this gesture, King Petro," he said, filled with emotion.
@Crezth: what happened to the armies and fleets of Milan? I would have thought that, if they surrendered voluntarily, their armies and fleets would have been part of my own army and navy. And it's true, the Hellenic Republic shouldn't be able to build a third unique wonder, the rules state clearly that only 2 UW can be built for all time.
