CS-1 - Farmer's Paradise

A stack is moving toward Baghdad, it currently only contains a few cats and elephants, however some Axemen and Swordsmen are on the way from our Barbarian conquerings.

Make some minor adjustments to the tiles and specialists. Decide against war with Sal in the immediate future, there are other issues at hand that must be delt with, he will be taken down soon enough.

Build Academy in Moscow. It would be good to get some more luxuries so I send our settler down to the gems in the south.

Start a settlers in St. Pete to fill in blue dot to the northwest, and in Moscow to build on pink dot.

Whip some courthouses to help offset the costs of our new settlements.

Research Drama->Music->Compass, but lose out on great artist.

Found Smolendsk, Orenburg, and Vladivostok. Barb city is settled on peach dot, start the stack over in that direction.

Sorry about the lack of notes, I can't seem to find my original notes so this was reconstructed from memory. Priority #1 will be to get more workers to get our new resources hooked up, and to build misionaries to spread our religion around for gold, culture, and OR. And we need better defense of our core cities, particularly the ones near Sal before we can think of starting an attack.

About the same actually, the whipped courthouses kept it on an even keel. The two things that will dramatically improve our commerce are building Harbors and finding new Civs to get open boarders with (not to mention trading resources and techs as well).

Something bad must have happened to the civ computer last night. It's not starting windows anymore, just rebooting and rebooting.
I have no idea what it is and if/when it will work again.

Please skip me for now. I sure wish I had played yesterday instead of reading. :(

Yuck. Good luck with the computer, I hope you figure out what's happened. :confused: Let us know if you can start playing again.

I guess then that Snaproll is up.

Roster:
chriseay
Beestar
Morred
Woebearer - Just played
Sina - skipped with computer trouble
Snaproll - up now

Mmmkay, got it, playing tonight. Looks like things are going well. We may have enough land that attacking Saladin right away doesn't make a lot of sense right now anyway - we still need to consolidate the "gains" we've made already.

Consolidating our gains may be the best route, I'm not sure. We might have a lot of farming to do! :p

Looks like the computer is up and running again.
Some errors on the HD which luckily could be fixed as it seems.

So, I'm back in the loop. :D

Yay! If you want to just make it a swap with Snaproll than that's ok with me. If not we'll just continue the order and get back to you the next time around.

That works for me - I'm going out of town tomorrow so I wouldn't be able to play my turns after tonight anyway. So, I've still got it!

All,

I wasn't able to get to this tonight as I had hoped. Sina, go ahead and grab it in the normal rotation, and maybe I can jump in on my turns after the weekend. If not, feel free to skip me.

Again, I apologize.

(0)1150AD:
Set Novgorod to growth and mess a bit with specialists here and there. I think I put them back to where they were anyway. :)
Apache is on the right spot. It will be ours as soon as it grows to 2.

(1)1160AD:
Rostov: Lighthouse -> Theatre. I want those cows! (No, the real reason is that I want one tile next to the city so that it can be taken on the first turn of the war.)

Great Scientist born in Moscow. Superspecialist there or Academy in St. Petersburg. I decide on the Academy. Might have been :smoke: but my rough calculation said it was the more profitable thing to do.

(2)1170AD:
Moscow: Conf. Academy -> Missionary. Shuffle tiles/specialists around for growth.

(3)1180AD:
Compass -> Machinery. Maces in 7 turns!
We are going minus on gpt temporarily as Moscow lost the Merchant for growth and more units are outside our borders.

(4)1190AD:
Moscow: Missionary -> Missionary.
Move several units back into our borders. We won't need the whole stack for the barb city. 2 WE and a sword will do the job.

(6)1210AD:
Moscow: Missionary -> Missionary
St. Petersburg: Forge -> Harbor. It's now unhealthy as well as unhappy.
Whip the Forge in Novgorod.

(7)1220AD:
Moscow: Missionary -> Aqueduct.
Novgorod: Forge -> Theatre
Rostov: Theatre -> Granary. I assign an Artist there.

Apache grew and 2 WE later it's ours. Have to go down to 30% science for a turn.

(8)1230AD:
Yaroslavl: Courthouse -> Monastery
Gems are online now and science back up to 40% although that didn't change anything on research. St. Petersburg is happy again.

(9)1240AD:
St. Petersburg: Harbor -> Worker. We need a whole bunch more of those.

(10)1250AD:
Machinery -> Optics (can be changed, no beakers invested)
Apache online and gpt at -3. I haven't mmed yet.

There are a barb axe and sword (currently in the fog) around Orenburg.

We need 2 more missionaries and several workers. Moscow can start producing maces next turn. I foresee a war in the not so distant future. But we still need a lot of infra like markets.
Saladin is very backwards and with cats and maces he'll be toast soon, I think. There are units in Rostov and on the way to it.

Good work. I always like academies better, but I have only anecdotal evidence on the actual validity of them being better. It seems that right around the time we are at now it becomes better to start using scientists for GA's or tech. I still use super specialists rarely. To me it always seems like there is something better to be done. I'm sure eventually someone will prove me wrong! (or already has.) :crazyeye:
