Inherited turn:
I think a spear is NOT the right thing to build in Kyoto right now. An archer is. That will get rid of Russia's incoming warriors. Same for Osaka. I move one of Osaka's warriors to Kyoto for MP because the archer is going to Osaka.
One northern warrior turns around to nail a barb camp that popped up: +25 gold, and he finally promotes.
Another barb warrior appears from the east and attacks Osaka, but our vet warrior fends him off.
Archer kills a vet Russian warrior, losing one HP, and advancing next to St. Petersburg. It's got a fortified vet spear in it, so I decline to attack further. Russia still refuses our envoy, though.
1870 BC: Two archers, a vet and the now-healed regular (remember that units heal one per turn in neutral territory - they don't have to retreat to a city) move next to St. Pete on a hill.
1830 BC: Our vet archer kills the vet in St. Pete, losing only two HP! Reg archer attacks reg spear, takes it down to 1 HP but loses.
Road for Wines completed.
1790: We have one 2HP vet archer next to St. Pete, which now has an undamaged fortified regular. I attack anyway. The odds are against us, but if we win, it will completely cripple Russia....
Woohoo!
That's enough, I think. We don't need to destroy Cathy this instant, and we won't have enough military to take Moscow just yet. Plus I did see a Russian settler pair slip past to the west, so they won't be dead, and we shouldn't waste all our resources playing Chase the Russians. I dial up Cathy, and she'll concede Iron Working, Masonry, and all of her 27 gold for peace. We'll toy with her at our leisure, and let ChrTh and the others have some of the fun.
I set research to Polytheism, since we wouldn't mind making an early run to Monarchy, since we are religious. We're only one turn into that at 1750BC, though; next leader can change.
Settler is sitting on a great spot for a city; recommend founding immediately.
