CT4 -- Death to Cathy!

450 AD (Pre-turn)
Forbidden Palace in 4 turns, Sun Tzu's in 37 with growth in 4. They will riot when they grow unless at least one more MP gets there. Also we have two groups of works clearing jungle when there is a hill within range that will give 3 shields when mined and best we can get out of grassland is 2. In particular we have 4 workers with 24 turns left to clear jungle who can mine that hill in 3 with one for a move, which will be perfect for the upcoming citizen to work. Cancel siad workers efforts. Looks like there is a spear coming to be upgraded that will serve well as an MP after he is upgraded. Or looking at the trade screen we can trade wines and 60 gold for silks. We make it so.
(I) Osaka finishes its marketplace and starts an aqueduct. Baulder's Gate completes a worker and starts another.

460 AD (1)
Pull workers on top of the hill, next turn they start mining. FP in 3 ST in 36.
(I) Kagoshima finishes a temple and starts a worker.

470 AD (2)
Worker movements and shifting pikes. FP in 2, ST in 35.
(I) KenderTown finishes a granary and starts a market.

480 AD (3)
Worker movements and shifting pikes. FP in 1, ST in 34.
(I) Lee's Gambit finishes the FP and starts a marketplace.

490 AD (4)
Worker movements. Growth drops ST to 30 turns, mine finishes in 1, I missed by one as I was counting the half finished turn. Rush temple in Akira.
(I) Aztecs ask us to move our galley, seems the advisor says he betrayed the Americans. Cathy's Grave finishes a temple and starts a barracks. Akira completes the temple and starts a library.

500 AD (5)
Move citizen to new mine on hill, ST drops from 29 turns to 25.
(I) Daggerfall finishes a granary and starts a marketplace. Satsuma finishes a temple and starts a marketplace. Kagoshima produced a worker and starts a granary.

510 AD (6)
Worker movement. ST in 24.
(I) Tokyo finishes its marketplace and starts an aqueduct. Ranma 1/2 completes a temple and starts a worker.

520 AD (7)
The workers near Kyoto that were left to clear jungle uncover shielded grass and start mining it. ST in 23.
(I) Little Tokyo finishes its market and starts a pike.

530 AD (8)
Trade Ghandi ivory for Theology, WM and 11g. No one else has a port or road connection. Science set to engineering. ST in 22.
(I) Osaka finishes its aqueduct and starts working on a Samurai. Nara finishes a temple and starts a courthouse 50+ corruption.

540 AD (9)
Worker movements and swap pike for spear at Lee's Gambit. Spear moving back for upgrade. Buy Engineering for 180g and start working on invention. ST in 21
(I) Not a thing.

550 AD (10)
Workers near Kyoto finish mining the shielded grass, switch one of the citizens over to it Sun Tzu's in 17 turns.

Save Game 550 AD

Inherited turn:

Umm.. where the heck are the aqueducts? Swap Lee's Gambit, Edo, Little Tokyo, Godshome, KenderTown, Satsuma to aqueducts.

Akira building library? A library will not help against Punjab. It would gain exactly one square, at the 100 culture mark, and that's if Punjab never expands. Swap to worker.

Cathy's Grave, Nice Mountains, Bengal to courthouses.

Kagoshima to worker. It's got jack for good squares to work, so it may as well remain small.

Sun Tzu's is not a very useful wonder for us at all. Barracks are half price for us to begin with, and we already have them in our core cities. In fact, Sun Tzu's will gain us LESS THAN HALF as many shields worth of barracks as it costs to build! Sistine or Bach's would be much better; Leonardo's if we can't get them. Swap to Sistine now; we'll see what we can get.

I begin Spearman Shuffle, rotating in the outlying ones to get upgraded.

560 AD: Education can be had for 170 + 3gpt, and it won't get any cheaper, so I buy it from India.

Kendtertown riots - I notice it isn't connected to the luxuries! Swap it to a harbor -- remember they're half price -- since that's better than it running an entertainer for the next 20 turns until a road is connected. It could use the food, too.

Daggerfall builds marketplace - actually a cathedral would have been better; it starts that now.

630 AD: All the AIs get Astronomy. Our Spices deal with India expired, so I trade them Spices + 130 gold for it.

Our silks for wines deal with India runs out, and they want 60 gold to renew it. We take it.

An uneventful turn. Notes for next leader:

There is a GOODY HUT still unclaimed on the island south of us. Our galley can travel over sea now - we got Astronomy - and I started moving a horse south to load onto the boat to try and grab it. May want to consider building a settler or two to send there.

We built one Samurai, who is hanging out in Nice Mountains. Remember we can also upgrade the Horsemen.

Someday Aztec or America will build harbors, and we can trade with them.

Consider swapping research to max on Music Theory, especially if we don't get Sistine and Invention isn't discovered.

Lastly, BUILD THOSE COURTHOUSES! :)

Erik, you have 24 hours to pipe up, otherwise we're going to have to drop you from this game.

Sorry, drop me.
My idea of a vacation is to sit and play Civ3.
My parents idea of a vacation is to drag me to france for 10 days, be home for 2 days, drag me up a little cabin in northern norway for a week, come home again for 3 days, etc. Drop me, I cant get the time.

Feast mode tonight - but I got it.

@T-Hawk / Meldor
We are down to 3 - all dediciated, but 3.

Do we add another player, or bag this one?
This game still has to long to go with to play with 3.

I think it would be easy to find another player, but I don't mind finishing it with three, just don't expect instant turn arounds. One thing I don't like is letting them die, even nightmares like RBD13.

One player I have seen looking for a game unsucessfully has been Chieftess. Several of the fellows I play with on the other threads have been pretty good at staying in or posting if they will be out of town.

I will leave the choice to you guys. In any case it looks like you are up Lee.

(0) 650 AD -
 why are we mining a moutain by low food Kendtertown?
Same deal at Nice Mountains, but with just 2 turns - I let it complete there.
wm hasn't been traded for a while +$29

We are religous - revolution to Republic.

(6) 710 AD - Invention for sale - I will wait 10 turns for the cheap route.
(I) Aztec complete SunTzu.
Cascade to Sistine, Leo's, Corp.

(9) 740 AD - America - $6/turn for Ivory.
$6/turn for Spices
$6/turn for wines

(10) 750 AD - India $30, invention, $4/turn for Ivory.

(11) 760 AD -
[dance] We get Sistine.
Cascades to Leo's, Cop, Great Library
I hope it breaks before Smith's.

(16) 810 AD - $185 snags Gunpowder.
(I) Cop is completed.

(17) 820 AD - Begin the upgrade cycle again :crazyeye:
Begin of turn - spear to pike, now pike to musket.
(I) The Great Library is completed.

(18) 830 AD - Spices to Aztecs for $30, $10/turn.
(I) America starts Bach - so much for breaking the cascade.

(19) 840 AD - I buy Music Theory for $100, gee our cash flow is $154/turn, can we afford it?

Summary - Once banking is available - I say research economics and snag Smith's.
Hope the cascade breaks before then.
I started building some military / ships.

Are we going for conquest or space race?
If conquest we need should pump up the military.

:goodjob: T-Hawk, 20 turns it is.

Looks like feast tonight. Will try and get this one done second.

[EDIT] Time eaten by RL. This one half finished, will post tomorrow.

850 AD (Pre-turn)
Note that America is the first target that we can go after in nine turns, India second in 10 turns and the Aztecs in 18 turns. The indians are givings us silks and 4 gpt, the Americans 18 gpt. I vote for the Indians in ten turns. How many Caravels and Samies can we get there. We currently have 7 Sammies and 3 Caravels. We need at least 8 more Sammies, 3 or four muskets, and at least 1 or 2 settlers. At +198gpt we should be able to scare something up.
(I) Indian's city of Delhi finishes Leo's.....Hmmmm....

860 AD
Start hurring things along. Yes, Lee, I am still upgrading the pikes as well.

960 AD
Lee will be happy to know that our last Pike was upgraded this turn, and next turn I will disband or last warrior.

980 AD
Three Caravels of Sammies set sail for northern India. The Americans finish JS Bach's in Philadelhia.

1000 AD
Aztecs finish Magellan's Voyage in Tlatelolco.

1030 AD
We accidentally land nine Sammies on the coast of India. Since we can't move them war is declared. The Indians attack us with an elephant and we win, setting off our....GOLDEN AGE!

1050 AD
Northern invasion force is suffering heavy loses. Southern force lands. Chittagong is taken.

Save Game 1050 AD

"accidentally land"? .... It was a funny....You can't land three Caravels worth of Sammies anywere on one click.......

Heh, just like in LK27, I get to play the Golden Age :)

Summary: If Sirian were in this game, he'd retire now. :)

Inherited turn:

Um, there really is no need to send muskets invading with samurai. Samurai have 4 defense.

Diplo check:

We're selling Monty spices for 10gpt. (How long has that been there?) He trades us Navigation + Chemistry for Spices + 90 gold.

WOW: there's THREE separate 6gpt for luxury deals ongoing with America!!! :smoke: :smoke: Cancel all of them! Instead, he trades us Physics + Metallurgy for Ivory + Spices + Wines + 30 gold.

Guys, you gotta check ongoing diplo deals.

Also, running all-cash is great, but you've gotta buy the tech sometime, and once there comes a point where you can SEIZE the tech lead, DO it. They already built Magellan's, for cryin' out loud! Set research to Military Tradition due in 4 at -129 gpt. Samurai are nice and all, but Cavalry are much better.

To library, swap Kyoto, Little Tokyo, Osaka, Tokyo, Godshome, Lee's Gambit, Edo (reassign tiles - it wasn't growing!), Kendtertown. Akira, Kagoshima need aqueduct. Nara, Ranma 1/2 to cathedral - with Sistine Chapel, Religious, and few lux, cathedrals are FAR better than marketplaces.

End of turn - our samurai outside Delhi get slaughtered. When doing an invasion like this, keep the force together and hit one city at a time. And why are the invaders at Bombay standing on flat land instead of that mountain?

1060 AD: With several libraries now built, Mil Trad is now due in 3 at only -12 gpt. Osaka begins a wonder placeholder - probably Smith's or Suffrage.

1070 AD: Our samurai raze Punjab. I decide to abort the attack on Bombay until we upgrade them all to Cavalry, and rush a barracks in Bengal to facilitate that.

Yeeuch - war weariness causes a riot at Godshome. Swap it to cathedral.

Aztecs declare war on India!

1080: Mil Tradition comes in, and I set research to Economics. Yes, it's an optional tech, but it's something we can trade to the AI for tech (they still have Theory of Gravity and we don't) and it has a good wonder. Scroll-ahead to upgrade all the samurai (except for the two elites.)

1090 AD: Let's do this invasion the right way. We land 11 cavalry on the mountain next to Bombay.

1100 AD: Bombay is razed. Nagoya is founded on a spot outside of Indian cultural influence and with silks, and rushes a harbor.

1110 AD: We attack Delhi. With one cavalry. Then I realize we have to delay one turn to avoid attacking across a river.

I use an Indian worker to throw a colony on the second silks near Nagoya that's now in neutral territory, so we can trade it.

Diplomacy time: Cancel Aztec Furs for our Wines. Instead:
Mil Trad + Silks to America for Magnetism + Incense.
Mil Trad + Wines + 230g to Aztecs for Theory of Gravity + Furs.

Yes, I traded around Military Tradition. India doesn't have any Saltpeter hooked up, that's why - and even when they do they won't have resources to build any cavalry.

Industrial Age!

Tough call, but I decide to finish the half-done research on Economics before Steam Power.

Our iron at Tokyo runs out. We still have one at Nice Mountains and one unconnected at Kendtertown.

1120 AD: We take Delhi. I decide not to raze it, since it has Leonardo's and the Hanging Gardens. We fall one cavalry short of also taking Lahore, though.

1130 AD: Lahore razed. Bangalore razed.

1140 AD: We load up a boat with four cavalry and send it to the southwestern island that has three Indian cities.

1150 AD: We fall just short of taking Madras.

Notes for next leader:

All the cavalry in Delhi will heal at the end of this turn. We should raze Madras next turn - so just hope Delhi doesn't flip this turn. :) Keep starving Delhi, of course.

I got it.

With just 3 players this one is at the bottom of my priority list.

I already started the round.

I got 2 turns complete - may get a couple more done before I go out for the knight.
