Started playing Master of Mana again with the coming of 1.3 Beta 10. Sephi has set an interesting thing in motion in that version; Having a Global Culture count which increases every turn with that turns total culture output in all cities. This Global Culture can then be spent from to buy improvement upgrades in your cities.
Doing so reduces the Global Culture Count but doesn't take away from the culture in any City. Losing a city doesn't reduce it either.
If using this together with reaching Global Culture Levels it looks like it's very possible to have not only techs gotten via Culture but also other things.
Religious buildings, Cultural Wonders, Religious units.
Just need to separate Global Culture from Total Culture, or "remember" how many points have been spent.
I'm thinking too that benefits from spending Culture shouldn't give too much, if any, culture. The benefit is being ABLE to get them after all, not "I'm ahead in the Culture Race so I'll get more total Culture from my existing Culture".
Just a thought on something that could be making Culture a LOT more valuable to slide on.
Cheers
