Culture Techs & More!

Started playing Master of Mana again with the coming of 1.3 Beta 10. Sephi has set an interesting thing in motion in that version; Having a Global Culture count which increases every turn with that turns total culture output in all cities. This Global Culture can then be spent from to buy improvement upgrades in your cities.
Doing so reduces the Global Culture Count but doesn't take away from the culture in any City. Losing a city doesn't reduce it either.

If using this together with reaching Global Culture Levels it looks like it's very possible to have not only techs gotten via Culture but also other things.
Religious buildings, Cultural Wonders, Religious units.
Just need to separate Global Culture from Total Culture, or "remember" how many points have been spent.

I'm thinking too that benefits from spending Culture shouldn't give too much, if any, culture. The benefit is being ABLE to get them after all, not "I'm ahead in the Culture Race so I'll get more total Culture from my existing Culture".

Just a thought on something that could be making Culture a LOT more valuable to slide on.

Cheers

Actually some time ago I added global culture count to the DLL.
So it is already summed up in any current games and stored in the save games, just not used for anything yet.
My original plan was to use it to progress through cultural ages but currently I have it on low priority.

The idea of having global culture counts unlock Leader Traits has been, I think, the best one floated for the use of excess culture so far. Very cool concept.

I wonder what kind of improvement upgrades could be purchased? hmm...

So, few questions about the currently established Global Culture metric... is that amount independent of any city losses? Can it be spent, as a currency, without taking away from the culture of any of your cities? If you lose a city, then recapture it, would you just keep adding to your global culture every time the city kicked in? Or does it just calculate all EARNED culture, adding it to a global total pool that can then be spent?

It accumulates global culture as it is earned. City losses or gains do not change it.

So its a separate pool then. So it could be spent on various things, including Leader Traits and potentially city specific benefits (specialized city traits perhaps...)

Hmm... interesting.

Question for ya:

Do you think that EACH and every Civ "ought" to have "their" own culture PLUS the culture of the area, ie European/Oceania etc?

Meaning if i am playing as Viking, shouldn't i have the "First" option of getting "my" culture Heroes first?

Just hold your horses. I have something big I want to do. However I will need your help.

Hello!
Sorry for my weak English.
Maybe I move a fairly old thread do not know if there was already discussed in the Forum check to see some interesting topics and I came up with a very
Interesting, namely, culture Tech was it moved years ago but did it exist to be able to do something like a culture Tree with Civ 6?

So that the point that I gained over the course of culture was the same as in the case of technology that was used to discover some things?
Assuming that won to the X culture per turn, suppose for this example 20 from all cities/city could be established so that the technology would cost you 100 culture of course, this example is purely theoretical and speaking of culture Tree that I have thought more Separate trees would reasonably be possible to share this, of course, to match the cost of technology to the culture I realize that the problem may be in the then
Mainly the action of the AI due to the fact that development had to be balanced i.e. the development of tech tree and culture techs and AI had to Wty to distribute rationally the levels of issue on technology and culture I realize that this very hard work is also likely There is one more issue of gathering culture for the entire empire and redirecting it in a rational way to the tree but would it be possible?

Of course, looking at the amount of current technology more realistic seemed to possibly choose those more social and cultural techy to move to culture Tree than to do new technology Urozmaiciło would certainly play the game because culture would have become Even more important for the game itself.

If there is anything I didn't understand then really sorry my English is very weak I am using an interpreter.

Cultural concepts and religious evolution trees akin to the tech tree is something we have discussed somewhere on the C2C forum, and many agreed it would be cool to implement one day. I'm pretty sure we would be able to pull it off one day, but right now there are many other projects that must be prioritized.

The English is pretty bad, I think you were mainly asking if it had been discussed for C2C, answer is yes.
Were you asking if it was technically possible? Answer: absolutely.
Were you asking how it would play out / look / feel in game? Answer: That would be speculations at this point, we are unsure.

Johny Smith came up with a very good Culture tree which could form the basis for a new Culture tree. It was based on each nation making choices to go one of two ways at each choice point. Many nations could select the same Culture but eventually they could all diverge as you can only go down one branch. Unfortunately I have lost my copy and I have not been able to find another on the forums. This covered the splitting of Cultures into different Cultures.

For example you choose your base Culture at game start not your nation. Then at Cultural Identity you get to choose between two Cultures based on that Base Culture that were available at that time.

On top of that there would need to be others that were based on merging of Cultures and other ideas. Game events like getting a new map resource, or discovering a Natural Wonder, or capturing a wild animal may allow you to build a new Culture which is not on the main technology related tree but is on the Culture tree.

There are many ideas out there and it is on our to do list.

Someone revived 7 year old thread :p

We do that a lot in this mod because sometimes we leave off on a discussion to get other things done meaning to come back to them later.
Well then this less than glorious thread was locked after it got few posts 5 years later :mischief:
I guess this one was too controversial to handle.
