Cumulative Geography Quiz #2

History is basically geography through time. All historical narratives concern the desire for more land and the redefinition of boundaries. In Civ, exploration is vital, settling other lands to spread the influence of your culture. Hitler's demands for lebensraum were a major factor in the start of WW2. History is based in geography. Whether this means that Willem's question is geographical rather than historical is up to you, but I'm quite happy with it (apart form the fact I don't know the answer). Any question that starts with "where" is essentially geographical, whether on the surface of the earth or otherwise.
No answer I'm afraid, just waffle.

Yeah, there is likely to be some crossover between history and "historical geography." ... (On the above question, I'd say it's more historical than geographic; but that's just one person's opinion on a grey area.)

I haven't the foggiest idea as to the answer: Nuremburg would have been my first guess; as a second guess, how about Sachsenhain, site of "Hitler's Stonehenge"?

Ok, I'll aks other questions next time.

TIP: It used to be the (post-WWII) Sovjet Zone (=DDR). It's build on the Eastsea coast. It's not a large city, but still a (in Germany) famous vacation site.

Hey, hey. Very, VERY close. Sassnitz is close. Arkona is closer. Gohren is the closest. You're on the right island!

Ok, I'll give you the city next to it. I was there on vacation 2 weeks ago: Ostssebad Binz.

Well devil,

Once you said Eastsea Coast, I immediately thought:

Well, this is exactly what it looks like! A hello from the Eastsea island Rügen, Germany. Today is the 5th day of our holiday here, and I thought it would be nice to search for an internet connection and post something at CFC! WEll, the connection here is very slow, and time is limited, so. CYA from July 24th (then I will be home again).

greetings from me and Kira

Well, that's logic! Good thinking. Now you have to get the right answer.......

My atlas doesn't have the Oster-Binz; it has a Binz, and the closest to that would be ... Sellin (which, according to my Atlas, is actually closer to Gohren than Binz ... which is to say, if it's smaller than that, it's not in my Atlas!).

I think I finally found something that is related to the question. I'm not sure cause all the information is in German, and except Guten Tag I don't know anything from german. Well from what I understood, the city should be Prora or Ruegen or maybe the translator just couldn't translate those one. If u r able to understand what is said, i'll give u the address of the site I found, and the answer

That's right! Prora is the right answer.

Andu, it's almost impossible that Prora is in your atlas; it's so small it would almost fit in my backyard (except for Hitler's building ofcourse).

Now I'm happy... after looking for that answer for 4 hours at least I got the right answer... I think I owe a great thanks to altavista for giving me this answer just by giving the name of Ostssebad Binz. Anyway, let's go with the next question :
Q9: What will be the next name of the highest mountain in Canada (mount Logan)?
I think that if you're not from Canada, you'll have to search for that answer for some hours... So, its your turn to search for the answer... (maybe I feel to confident) I wish you good luck...

Edit: Sorry, i forgot to put the question in bold

Andu Indorin, Unknown soldier was not looking for the next highest mountain in Canada, he was looking for the next NAME of the highest mountain there!!! As in what name to which it may soon be changed!

!

Well then, the answer would be either Mt. Trudeau or Trudeau Peak; meaning that you are correct, Magnus.

(Though I'd being willing to bet that the legislation on the name change will go down to defeat.)

Well, i was too confident... the next name of mount Logan will be mount trudeau or mount pierre-elliot trudeau (its not done yet) after the name of this man who was prime minister of canada. I was thinking to have you search for some day... Well next is yours Magnus
