No, no. That's an Australian website - what I wanted to know was what replaces .au when the website comes from the Antarctic. And Antarctica stretches much further than the South Pole too! Keep thinking about it .
Magnus has the first part, and I think I'll give him the next question because as you all found, the second part is entirely theoretical. There are no websites actually based in Antarctica, but if there were then they would be .aq sites.
So Magnus: Over to you!
If you find a list of which internet addresses have been given to which countries then it should be on there. I've only got a paper one which I can't be bothered to scan but I'm sure if anyone's so bothered then they'll be able to find one on the net.
Indonesia is the country with the most islands that is entirely composed of islands. The country I am looking for is part of a continent and exceeds that number (13,000) by well over a factor of ten!
I hate single word posts so I'm going to ramble on for a bit before giving my answer which is going to have to take some time until I am satisfied that I have written enough to escape any charges of spamming and thence say: Canada?
Most people in the know believe that Canada most likely does have the most islands, however since they have never bothered to count them (!!!) they must be disqualified. The number of islands the current 'winner' has is 179,584!
Althought the obvious way to get this by cheating is just to type 179,584 islands into a search engine and see what it throws up, I'm going to resist the temptation and try another stab in the dark. I'm not even sure that it's anywhere near, but I think that with all the lakes, Finland could possibly have many many islands too. Although having typed it, I suddenly doubt it. Hohum.
