It was a border despute between Maine(US) and New Brunswick(Canada), in 1839. There was no fighting, it was settled peacefully, the disputed area being split roughly 60/40 in favor of Maine. It could have been a shooting war, but cooler heads prevailed.

actually, there was some "border skirmishes," but the combatants were basically loggers from either side!
