After completing one "variant" that turned out to be little variant at all -- the lowered corruption of CVN1 -- I;m going to start a game with a HUGE variant: no culture.

This means no Temples, Cathedrals, Libraries, Universities, Colosseums, Research Labs and Small or Great Wonders. (We can keep the Wonders we capture, since they produce no culture). Obviously, this means Cultural and Space Race victories are both impossible (The Apollo Program is a Small Wonder and gives culture.) The only culture in our entire empire will be form our Palace.

As far as a Civ is concerned, I would prefer a civ that, in real life, built no lasting cultural testaments -- the Mongols, Zulu or Iroquois. However, I'd be willing to play as any civilization.

So, now my question is... Is anyone interested?

What level are you thinking of and what map size/configuration?

One side effect of this variant is that research will also be hampered. Not so much of a problem if you're thinking of Emperor (or above).

Not yet a sign up :)

Not a sign up.

So you're also excluding the FP and SPHQ(if you go commie), you're going to have some serious flip problems. Guess you better plan on a lot of :hammer:

I was thinking probably Standard Map, Emperor or maybe Demigod. Depends on how good the players are who sign up. If we use the Iroquois, Warm/Arid/60% Ocean/Continents, the others (Mongols or Zulu) would be Temperate/Standard/60% Ocean/Pangaea. It all depends on what civ is chosen.

Just to get a better template:

CVN2 - The Uncouth

Difficulty: Emperor/Demigod
Version: C3C 1.22 (can be 1.15 if necessary)
Civ: Iroquois, Zulu or Mongols (TBD)
Map:
(If Iro) - Standard/Warm/Arid/60% Ocean/Continents
(If Others) - Standard/Temperate/Standard/60% Ocean/Pangaea
Variant: No culture buildings. Period. No Temples and no Wonders. No Libraries, Research labs or Universities. Only the Palace gives culture.

Hmmm, no border expansions....interesting. You'll have to expand your borders by the placement of your cities.

Sigh, I wish I had the time to invest in this, but I don't. :(

I'd like to give the Iroquois, Continents version a spin.

Emperor or demi-god would be fine with me.

Ted

Okay that's two. Looks like we'll do the Iroquois version. I'll generate a start as soon as we have someone else. Anyone have any preference for Emperor or Demigod?

Cuivienen,

This is a couple of levels over my ability, so I'm not signing up, but I think that the variant sounds very interesting. Good luck!

Just some notes from the start -- a victory conditions are on, but we can only win via Conquest, Domination or Diplomacy (UN built by someone else). Obviously, Domination and Diplomatic victories will both be difficult, so I think we're looking at a Conquest victory.

As far as city placement -- we're going to want to place our cities as if this were AW so that our borders connect and we make full use of all tiles. Since the Palace will give us cultural expansions, though, we'll want to give the Palace itself room to grow and build the inner ring of cities a decent distance away.

Our start: (Looks like a move SW is in order)

Looks fine,

Worker W as the first move? Sending the Worker South would mean crossing & re-crossing the river too early.

If nothing special is revealed by the Worker then Settler SW.

Ted

Well, I got back to this a but later than expected, but I'll have the first twenty turns tomorrow. Worker west, then, if nothing interesting, Settler southwest sounds like the best plan.

No rush Cuivienen,

I'm fairly busy this weekend :)

Err... Something's really wrong with my CD drive, for some reason it refuses to open. It just sounds like a stupid excuse, but it really is just not opening. Weird. Anyway, I have the starting save if TedJackson wants to start this one off. I'm sure I'll have the drive fixed soon, I just want to get this started.

Too late to start tonight, but if nobody grabs it before tomorrow morning then I'll start us off.

Ted

Got it

I'll play today.
