CVN2 -- The Uncouth

Preturn-We're looking good.

IT- Salamanca's borders expand

Grand River-worker-worker

T1 1475

Not much. Move units.

IT- Niagra Falls riots. When i checked it the turn before I somehow thought the content faces were happy ones. Maybe I should wake up a bit more before I play civ.

T2 1450

Raise lux. Move units.

IT- Order restored in NF. Greeks Start Colossus.

T3 1425

Move settler pair into position.

I begin dual suicide runs, one leaving the east coast and another leaving the west coast. So far they both see nothing but dark blue ocean.

IT- Salamanca-settler-warrior
Allegheny-worker-worker
Western Curragh sinks.

T4 1400

Cattaraugus founded. Set to warrior. We get maps from the friendly Olmec tribe.

Eastern Curragh goes further, but has yet to spot anything.

I send our new settler to a spot ESE of Allegheny.

Babylon will finally trade CoL, as Japan now has it. I get it for 192g and 8gpt.

Trade CoL to Rome for CB and Masonry.
Trade CoL to Greece for Math and 3g.

Everyone is now up BW, Mysticism, and MM on us.

IT- Japan is building the Temple of Artemis.

T5 1375

Amazingly, Eastern curragh is still afloat! It moves, and spots coastline. If it survives another turn, it'll be safe. So, that pretty much seals it's fate that its going to sink in the next IT.

I make another small suicide run towards the land SW of Greece.

IT- Two barb horses approach Cattaraugus.

Salamanca-warrior-settler

Boy, I hate being right all the time. Both curraghs hit the bottom of the ocean.

T6 1350

Not much.

IT- Babylon demands 14g. I cave.

The barb horses bypass Catt and head towards Salamanca.

T7 1325

I start two more suicide runs, one east from a small island SE of Japan, and another one across the same path by Greece again.

IT- We have horses connected at Allegheny.
The barb horsemne, now reverse course, and come back at Catt! Sly devils...the first one redlines our warrior, and the second finishes him off, stealing 1g from our treasury.

We get a palace expansion.

The Zulu city of Zimbabwe has complete the Pyramids.
The Incan city of Cuzco has completed the MoM.
Eastern curragh sinks.

T8 1300

Oil Springs founded. Set to worker.

Our SW curragh survives and meets a French warrior. The French lack CoL. They'll give us Mysticism and HBR and 115g for it.
I dial up Greece, as they lack HBR. We send them HBR, 127g, and 5gpt to them for MM.
I go to France again, and sell her MM for BW.

IT- NF-settler-settler
Catt-warrior-worker

Babylon is building the ToA, as are the Romans.

T9 1275

Not much to report.

IT- zzz

T10

Nothing of importance.

Afterthoughts

Well, we gained two cities and seven techs ove the past ten turns. I guess that isn't too bad of progress. The settler pair is heading towards the two Oasises. I suggest moving it SE to conform with the earlier dotmap. I tried to build cities according to what resources they'll have in their starting 9 tiles, as thats pretty much all they're going to get. Hopefully we can find more contacts with our curragh.

An updated (and improved) map of the northern area:
Blue is fishing villages/Border grabbers, while green is where our productive cities will be. Atleast we're agricultural, so all that desert will be productive.

The northern and western peninsula was tricky to map out, as well as the areas just south of Salamanca, so suggestions here are very welcome :)

The southern area: This is a bit optimistic/futuristic, but some of these spots we should be able to get without war. I'd put priority on getting the 2 luxes we don't have (spices and incense).

This area is a lot easier to map out. It's based on SW-NE lines, with cities spaced every 4 squares, and each line moved 1 tile NE (going south), to make maximum use of the tiles. (We'd lose out on the W-W, N-N, etc tiles otherwise).

Nice work on the dotmap Tarkeel :goodjob:

Cities look good, but why are we researching lit? It has nothing we want.. But we might be able to sell it at monopoly, and we've already invested some time in it so I let it go.

(1) 1225 BC
Salamanca: Settler->Barracks
Grand River: Worker->Granary
Settler at oasis is sent packing to the incense site, we need to claim that before japan.
Contact Inca. They have horses, ivory (!), 430g (!), IW and philosophy
Contact France: they have horses, dyes, ivory (!), 32g, IW and philosophy.

IBT:
Our Curragh is sunk after contacting the Inca

(2) 1200 BC
Japan, Rome and Greece have Poly, greece lacks philo, but we're broke :(

IBT:
France starts Great Wall. Paris completes SoZ

(3) 1175 BC
Not much

IBT:
Romans start Colossus

(4) 1150 BC
Alegheny: Worker->Barracks
Cattaraugus: Worker->Barracks
Lux to 30%, -1gpt

IBT:
Loads of babylonian settlers heading for the desert
Barb camp pops up NE of Cattaraugus

(5) 1125 BC
3/3 Warrior bs 2/2 barb horse -> 3/3 Warrior

IBT:
French start Great Lighthouse

(6) 1100 BC
Not much

IBT:
Inca start Great Library

(7) 1075 BC
Found Tonawanda on western peninsula.

IBT:
Kyoto finishes ToA, no visible cascades

(8) 1050 BC
Salamanca: Barracks->Settler
Oil Springs: Worker->Barracks
Found Mauch Chunk near incense
Lux to 20%

(9) 1025 BC
Set lone scientist in Niagara falls for 1 turn

(10) 1000 BC
Niagara Falls: Settler->Settler

All in all pretty boring turns. We'll have 2 luxuries soon. Make sure to MM Grand River for happines, and Niagra falls could work the sugar for 2 rounds before growing.

Good news that SoZ wasn't built on our continent, and we have contact with 2 civs on another continent. That should open some trade opportunities once our payments expire. Bad news about ToA though, Japan will surely be a culture monster now. It could have been worse though, as atleast they had cheap temples in the first place. Would have been much worse if it was greece... So here we are, with no culture surrounded by 3 culture rich civs. Joy!

Preturn -- Hire a Scientist in Grand River.
Rome begins the Great Wall.

Turn 1

Settler builds St. Regis on the spot.

IT

Greece and Japan kick us out.
Babylon begins the Great Wall.

Turn 2

Salamanca: Settler --> Settler

We need to do a bit of reaaranging on the dotmap to get Spices early, as we can't settle on Marshes. I'll settle one tile SE of the current Spice city tile.
The Inca have Literature this turn :(

IT

Greece begins the Great Wall.

Turn 3

ZZZ

Turn 4

ZZZ

Turn 5

Silks connected to Cattaraugus (now to connect them to Salamanca!)

IT

Rome begins the Great Lighthouse.
Lyons (France) completes the Colossus.
The Inca cascade to the Great Library.

Turn 6

Mid-Turn Tech Summary:

Japan -- Up IW, Philo, Poly (Constr?)
Greece -- Up IW, Philo, Poly, Constr
Rome -- Up IW, Philo, Poly, Constr, MM
Babylon -- Up IW, Philo, Poly, Constr
Inca -- Up IW, Philo, Lit
France -- Up IW, Philo, Lit

IT

Japan kicks us out.
Babylon, Rome and Greece all begin the Great Wall (again?).

Turn 7

Something interesting -- Of all civs we know aside from ourselves, Babylon has the lowest culture. Weird.

Turn 8

Salamanca: Settler --> Spearman

Hire a Taxman in Tonawanda.

Lost count of turns somewhere, but 800 BC should be Turn 10 so I'm stopping.

Turn 10

ZZZ

All in all relatively uneventful turns. The Babylonians founded two desert towns during my turns, and the Greeks founded one. We want to focus on settling the southern frontier first.

Hi guys,

I think I'm up but as I've still got 2 more SG turns to finish before I can start on this one I either need an extension or a skip :(

Ted

Cheers Kaiser_Berger :thanx:

Ted

Preturn- Our builds look good. I decide to attempt some tech wheeling and dealing.

We get lit from Franc for 127g and 2gpt.
I trade lit to Greece for Polytheism and 70g
Trade Poly to Inca for IW, Philosophy, and 330g.
I get Construction from France for Polytheism and 90g.

We're pretty much at tech parity now. The Inca have The Republic, and several of our closer neighbors have monarchy, but there is no way to swing any kind of deals right now. I set research to Republic in 50 at 0%.

IT- Greece is building the Greay Library.

T1 775

Silks are now hooked up to our core.
Moving of various units. Not much exciting.

IT- Niagra Falls-settler-settler

T2 750

The Roman bastards have poached a city site north of Allegheny

Not much else. Move settlers towards locations.

IT- Greece demands 37g. He gets it.
Tokugawa must have been jealous of Greece's intimidation tactics and tries some of his own. He walks away with 35g.

Salamanca-spear-settler
Allegheny-barracks-worker
St. Regis-warrior-worker

T3 730

We now have incense hooked up. We still need lux at 20 to keep Grand River happy, but we can fire the specialist there. Change the taxman in Tonawanda to a scientist to maintain min research.

Not much else of interest.

IT- Inca complete the Great Wall

T4 710

Nothing new.

IT- We receive reports of a massive barb uprising near Cattaraugus. We're not for from being medieval now.

T5 690

Found Centralia. Set to worker.

Time for some more crazy dealing. Hopefully I can get something out of this besides bankruptcy. Well, then again, we'll be bankrupt soon enough when the massive barb uprising hits, so might as well spend it all, I guess.

We buy currency from France for 358g and 6gpt. We go medieval.
I buy monarchy from Babylon for Currency.
I sell monarchy to France for Republic and 358g.
Sell monarchy to Inca for 100g and 28gpt
Sell currency to Japan for 180g.
Currency to Greece for 46g
Babylon and Greece both draw Feudalism. All our gold and the Republic buys it for us.

Not too bad, I guess. I revolt so we can get to Republic ASAP. We get 6 turns of anarchy.

IT- We get the FP message.
Babylon and Greece start Sun Tzu's.

T6 670

Found Akwesasne but spices and iron.

IT- zzz

T7 650

Tyendenaga founded.

IT- GR riots. I fix it.

T8 630

More governmentless bliss :p

IT- zzz

T9 610

Nothing

IT- zzz

T10

Nothing to report.

Afterthoughts

We're looking alright, I'd say. We have some land left to snatch up, btut I assume that pretty soon we're going to want to build up some MWs and lay the smack down and use our GA to build markets and other infrastructure. Next turn we can begin the great Iroquois Republic. I didn't hear a peep from the barb camp up north, which is strange. There should be 20 some horsemen there. Mabe they all just jumped into the ocean and died. One can only hope.

This is C3C -- Barbs won't move unless there is a unit on their NW-SE axis. Good for us, I guess.

Good job on the tech trading; turns look good. Can you take this now, TedJackson?
