Don't worry I'm still here. It seems Knappagh did get a bit too excited. But then again I missed it too. So no harm done. If gogf is ready to go, then by all means take it. I don't mind waiting a little longer.

Still no word yet from Gogf I see. I guess I'll take it then. So this is a 'got it'.

Not much interesting happened. The Americans are staying quiet and we haven't found more contacts yet. As always, al current builds are vetoable.

Pre-flight check:
Still plenty of expansion left to do.
Still no American agression in sight either.
Still need more contacts.

Here is the current player order:

cizzlewalk - Is he back? Up next if so.
Greebley - Out until Dec 1.
Macdandee - Get the game if Cizzlewalk doesn't post his I got it within 24 hours from now.
Keiji - Possibly on deck.
Knappagh1
Gogf - Skipped/Presumably busy this round with RL (real life). Hopefully, will be back by the next round.

Have fun with the game while I am away. :)
Hopefully, we will own the whole island when I get back and hurting the Americans (or at least planning it).
I would consider building the Heroic Epic before the main wars start. Leaders are always nice. I don't think we need an army win to do so.

Preturn-look around. Quito from HC to serf(roading), Cuzco from wargalley to galley (for exploration). America is up Dynasticism, down Naval Warfare and Poetry. Tibet is up Dynasticism, down Mythology. We get Dynasticism in one. Micromanage just a little and start 'er up.

T1(130bc) - Dynasticism comes in, Riding next. Revolt, control back in two. America and Tibet are both up Bronze Working, trade with Tibet Mythology for Bronze Working+44g. We are now up Poetry on Tibet, America is up Construction and down Naval Warfare and Poetry.

IBT - Polynesia finished the Sphinx.

T2(110bc) - nothing
[
T3(90bc) - We are a Monarchy! Rearrange things in many towns. Tibet is up Construction, they will trade it for Poetry, but I'm going to see if I can meet purple borders first. Riding is due in 7.

IBT - Sioux finish the Hanging Gardens. Americans are building Stonehenge & the Pyramids.

T4(70bc) - Cuzco Galley - slave market. Found Pachacamac on the northwest coast (monument).

IBT - Alarm! American galley spotted. Arabs finish The Oracle. Tibet is building Stonehenge.

T5(50bc) - Paracas monument - Hardy Pioneer. War galley wins without even a scratch.

IBT - Siamese building the Great Wall. Galley lost at sea trying to get to the purple border.

T6(30bc) - Quito serf - pioneer. Siam shows up on the diplomacy screen! They are up Math, Aristocracy, Code of Laws, Construction, Philosophy, and Riding but are down Poetry. Embassy with Tibet (size 7, 4spt stonehenge due in 25). They do not know either of the other two. Mess around with a number of trade options I go with aristocracy for poetry+159g. This will give us the earliest line to run for republic. Trade with Tibet construction+25g for poetry. We are up Aristocracy on Tibet. Looking back at Siam, they are up Civil Engineering on us too. Found Paramonga on the Southwest coast (monument).

T7(10bc) - Cuzco slave market - shrine. Chan Chan eagle warrior - serf.

T8(10AD) - Iron is hooked up.

T9(30ad) - Riding - Elephant Training. Siam already has elephant training. America is up civil engineering
now.

IBT - Tibet establishes and embassy.

T10(50ad) - nothing.

Post turn - Im thinking now that I should have built another galley or two for exploration. Siam must have contact to be that far up on tech. Looks like we might want to start colonizing the islands to our east, will probably be just fishing villages on the closest one but with some nice resources thrown in.

Keiji - is up

Its being over a couple of days since MacDandee posted and no sign of Keiji.

Im at work at the minute so i cant play right away but will play when i get home tonight unless Keiji posts before then.

Wah? I'm up again already? Our roster sure has diminished a lot. Seems I have missed MacDandee turnlog post too, sorry bout that. I'll see if I can play quickly so Knappagh can still play his turns tonight.

Pre-flight Check:
All the current builds seem ok. Boy I feel backwards compared to Siam. :(
We can buy civil engineering but from them, but I don't really want to give
them more than they already have.

I'm lacking a sense of direction in this game at the moment. So here's some questions:
- Are we going to fill up the empty spots in our empire with more cities?
- Are we going to start building an army against the Americans or are we
going to continue building up an empire for a while?

Im not going to get time to play tonight, but i would like a bit of direction like Keiji suggested. I wouls imagine that we will be starting the (real) war with Americia shortly so im guessing that a mix of military and pioneers will be the way forward. We will have to build up a sizable navy nefore we can even begin the assault on Americia. Im not sure of the transport capabilities that the ships we are currently building but i would imagine that we will need at least a dozen units to gain a decent foothold on the Americian continent. So we are looking at probably 6 or more galleys for that purpose alone.

I think it would be best attacking with the elephants. They have being excellent for me whenever i have used them. Have we got the required tech for them yet?

Personally, I'd continue to expand away from America for a while yet. Our cities are not exactly industrial powerhouses yet, and only the capital can produce veteran units. Even in the capital, it would take 5 or so turns per elephant. The americans have horses, and their core is fairly tight making for a quick, powerful response to any invasion. That said though, I am perfectly willing to go for the active warfare at this point. The elephants are great for that, with the plus of being able to build roads as they go. I just keep greedily eyeing those two empty islands to the east of us.

I would start getting a reaction force built up on the west coast no matter what else we do though. If the Americans could sneak a couple of loads of horses over they could do us some damage.

Macdandee

Wow, sorry about that guys. For some reason, even though I subscribed to this thread, I didn't get any emails :hmm:. Trying to fix that now. I came in here to find out why nothing had happened.

Glad to see ya post! Wanna load it up and see what direction you think we should be going?

Has anyone heard anything about Cizzlewalk?

Macdandee

Hello all. I am back and can play in my standard spot when the game comes around to me.

BTW, I think the variant requires us to trade for techs that lead to the dead end techs first.

Didn't really get a chance to catch up on the game yet. Will do tomorrow.

I think we want to balance infrastructure and troops. Lets build up some more before really persuing the war. We do want enough troops to defend ourselves though.

Has Knappagh1 gone missing?

cizzlewalk - MIA
Greebley - on deck
Macdandee -
Keiji - Just played.
Knappagh1 - Possibly MIA
Gogf - Up

That's bizzar, I thought I had asked for a skip in this thread :hmm:.

Anyway, I need a skip. I have to respond to twenty "thinking question" for English, which is taking an obsurd amount of time for the past few days.

Preturn: I make a trade for Philosophy (leads to dead end techs) and then get the 2-fer by trading it for Mathematics. I had to pay 380 and 35 gold respectively, leaving us with 56 gold. Siam has Republic.

Early: Our capitol finishes its water mill and will build Elephant Riders to head off American troops.
We get barding. I trade it for Trade (the only tech Tibet has) and 46 gold. Siam already has it. We have 3 non-reqd techs we can research. I pick Drama as it is the only one Siam doesn't have.

I think not having contact with more civs is really hurting us. I am hoping our current exploring galley can find some. Be very careful with it.

Mid: Build our first Elephant.

Late: Sorry. Went to 360AD, but left all units unmoved except a Galley.

Notes:
We got Drama, but I haven't traded it yet. We can get Republic and 3 gold for it from Siam. According to Doc it gets the commerce bonus although it doesn't mention this fact in the civopedia. This makes it worth our while to revolt.

We can also probably trade it to Tibet for Seafaring.

Our elephant riders can build roads??? Odd, but useful. Might as well put them to work.

I included a picture with possible sites to put the next city.

cizzlewalk - MIA/Vacation? (Skip until he checks in)
Greebley - Just Played
Macdandee - Up
Keiji - On Deck
Knappagh1 - MIA (Skip until he checks in)
Gogf - Brain was fried by 20 english questions. Will he recover before the next turn or will he be again be brought low again by his english or advanced obfuscation class? Only time will tell.

360AD 1 - change some forges to worker housing, same effect plus makes a unhappy citizen content and for a lower cost. Do a little micromanaging cities. Change the placement of the two upcoming cities by one space, one to get on a hill and the second to get sea access. This last one I feel is more important than picking up the game. Drama+125g for republic and seafaring from Tibet. Drama+25g to Siam for code of laws. We are now up tech on the Americans, even with Tibet, and 5 back on Siam. Tech to Democracy (in 6). Adjust tech slider, 6 turns for either 50% or 60%.

370AD 2 - Pucara Eagle to Galley, Cupisnique WH to Eagle, Paracas WH to Forge. Found Cahauchi (to WH) and Arequipa (to Monument). Revolt to Republic (draw 5 turns).

380AD 3 - nada

390AD 4 - IBT Souix guild the great lighthouse.

400AD 5 - Tibet now up democracy. America down nothing but republic, they met someone.

410AD 6 -

420AD 7 - We are a Republic, gpt goes from 12 to 26, research from 5 or 6 to 3. See a Polynesian ship! We are up Poetry, they are up 6 techs. Only other tech change is that America has iron working. The dead end techs Polyniesia has are Democracy(we get it in 3) and lateen sails. He wants the farm for lateen sails, but we can get democracy + either currency or iron working for a little less than the farm. I want to trade the poetry asap since Polynesia is a great sea explorer. Currency is not a dead end, and iron working is pretty far from a dead end--this twister makes my head hurt. I get the options down to poetry+75gp+6gpt for lateen, or poetry for democracy+5gp...and I go for democracy, research to lateen sails (due in 4).

430AD 8 - Siam finishes Voyage of Discovery. Build an embassy with Polynesia (Haraiki -10spt, heroic epic in 16, Sphinx). Their capital is due north of our island.

440AD 9 - Cuzco elephant-elephant, Huari temple-hardypioneer, Supe monument-worker housing, Pachacamac worker-wh

450AD 10 - Siam is building the great library.

Postturn - There are a couple spots left to fill citywise on our island, but I believe we should look at expanding to one or both of the adjacent isles. The galley in Pucara should be changed once lateen sails come in next turn.
The elephants are great road builders, Im trying to avoid roading with workers in favor of the big tuskers. That last tech trade had me doing mental gymnastics trying to interpret what would best fit the spirit of the special rules.

Good luck Keiji
