damunzy's BTS PitBoss Game #2

I'm away this weekend from this evening until ~midday Sunday; given the current situation I'd like to request a pause tomorrow (Sat 11th Feb).

Hi all,

I didn't want to leave like this, but the repeated nukings have sucked all the fun the game once had for me and now it's just an exercise in frustration and painfully slow death.

When you next log in, everyone I'm not at war with should see a slew of the remains of my cities on offer to them (there is some overlap between the offers so first come first served). Next turn I'll log in and gift any troops that remain in them.

I hope you guys enjoy the rest of the game; my advice, invest in SDI!

Dreylin.

We are speaking few days ago Dreylin and i thought that (for first) we've already agreed that this is only a game and (for second - more important) that i don't want to make frustration on you (by those ICBMs), but just playing (like i want) - doing my best to win this game, becouse this is our (everyone of us - as i know) destination. Of course i could play in other "style", but i didn't. Why ? Becouse normally - situation in our game took to me (that doing it will be good to my country in this game) that i heaved up such decision (spam ICBM). Believe me i'm on charge in sereval PBEM/Pitboss games (like you know) and i'm playing different, i'm communicative, even sometime i can be diplomative, but rare :) (joke)

Anyway - i loose few games in similar situation like in our game and it was ok. I was playing with mate who's eliminated me doing it by carnage in one game, in second game i'm crushing him like a... (nevermind what), and in third game we are very good partners in diplomacy, trading etc. Why ? Becouse every game is different. Everyone knows that there are many factors influences in game. Maybe i had better some thing then you on start. Maybe i had more luck situation then you. Maybe i did less faults in this game then you. I don't know. I've just already saw that i can win by this decision and i just did it. That's all.
I hope you will understand me correctly. I don't want to angry you by those few sentences above, i just want to explain you that: maybe it seems like very big agression/carnage etc. against you, but i thought (and i think i'm still thinking) that this could be my way to win in THIS game or it will be my doom. We will see. That's all.

Respect me plz like i'm still respecting all of you.

I don't think this should happen. I refused the offer. Sure it is no fun, but I then you could play on or give up the Civ to Ai, since you fell that ther is no chance of winning this game.

@Zorzak: there is nothing against you personally in this decision. I recognise that you have taken the best available route to winning the game and have executed it very effectively; you will certainly not see a vendetta from me in the other two games we are playing in together.

@classical_hero: I see what you're saying and I don't feel too good about leaving the game like this. I made a mistake in offering you as many cities as I did; I should have done what I did with everyone else and offer just the cities adjacent to your empire that would fit best.

I am already out of the running in this game. If I continue to play or turn the civ over to the AI then I think that would ensure Zorzak's victory. By gifting away parts of my empire, maybe I can give one of the rest of you a chance to stand in his way....

I do understand your position, Dreylin. Loosing so many improvements which took so much time for being built is very very frustrating!! I do share your feelings. Also, I have to say I am impressed of the number of missiles Zorzak has built, without us being able to react. He obviously took a drastic decision to win this game!
About your proposal, in most pitboss games, giving cities when at war is not authorized. As it would artificially modify the balance between us, I won't accept your offer (if any, I still didn't log in ;). Maybe you could have ally to some of us, instead? Is there any chance you would reconsider your decision?

Congrats Zorzak on your diplomatic victory. I believe the writing was clearly on the wall and dragging it out would not have changed anything, which is why you got my vote.

Well, I can't say I'm entirely glad to have been put out of my misery so soon.

Anyway, Congrats Zorzak on the win!

Congrats Zorzak - gg all.

I was a little surprised by the ending - I expected a stalemate. Just when my nuclear arsenal was getting ready to fly too.

I'd be happy to play again as CH suggests.

I think I'd bow out of the next. I'm going to be away for 6wks over the summer, and then will be starting a new job so probably won't have the time.

I would be up for next game, but "from game on game" always i have greater requirements each time about game settings, which for me are (i think) the most important to make game (how then only possibly) balance and just at the beginning.

Major points (at this moment):
- only Pitboss (i mean NO PBEM - to much time and problems)
- large map (can be PerfectWorld2.py)
- minimum 8 players (without AI)
- only something like fractal or archipealago maps
- emperor or harder
- only ancient start
- without ANY tech. trading
- victories: without time and diplomacy :)
- barbarians: on (can be raging)
- huts: off
- vasal state: off

Congratulations for your victory Zorzak!
The result has surprised me a little, although it would have been really hard to change the final winner anyway!

I am a little late because I am on holidays this week. I enjoyed this game too. The pace was very good and the actions were interesting. I am planning to start another game. I'll be posting about it probably next week. But feel free to give your opinion and suggestions.
Current players are warmly welcome to join the new pitboss!
