Hyperborean
Demiurge
I'm genuinely surprised no one has started this thread before me. But his death seems to have passed unnoticed. I guess David Carradine's bizarre death stole all the thunder.
I found out about it just a couple of days ago. According to Wikipedia he died on 2 June 2009 (aged 77). It's funny that the passing of David Eddings is overlooked by the media while the death of a less interesting writer, like Robert Jordan, gets plenty of coverage.
Anyway, David Eddings may not have been my favourite writer, but I grew up with the Belgariad in the eighties, and I'm quite fond of that series. As a writer, he tended to get repetitive after a while, but I love the humour that permeats most of his books.
RIP, David Eddings.
