Dawn of Civilization General Discussion

It will not be razed.

Anyone's tried Infinite City Sprawl in DoC? What's the best civ for it, Britain?
I haven't tried the strategy yet, but I would think America would be the best civ for it:
  • Every new city in North America receives a free defender and worker
  • 2 or 3 free specialists in every city (Isolationism, Constitution, Statue of Liberty)
  • Free Enterprise raises the value of all trade routes, and Multilateralism can bump up your :hammers: from those trade routes

Best way to accomplish UHV3 for Japan? I want to do it without declaring meaningless wars on the tech leaders. :( (And I don't even know if that would work tbh)

I've been trying for a month now

I've done it before there was a thread in the gameplay guides where I got a lot of great advice and posted my own. Probably a few years old now but still relevant. Post in there and I can give you advice. Maybe even post your best attempts saves too.

Is +10 Stab enough to prevent independences? For my UHV Japan attempts

If you control every city in the spawn zone of a given civ. I once controlled all but one city in China and they respawned in that city plus Beijing. I had +20

The subject was Korea tho. Had its entire core.
Was above 0 and still got independent.

From my experience, positive stability is sufficient to prevent most respawns (you have to fully control its area). Being stable or solid may prevent those with only one city to respawn like Korea and Dutch. Note that respawn occurs in each 10 turns and the order is the turn they dead, from early to recent. So you may manage your stability a bit turn before.

Once enough civilizations know Nationalism respawns can happen on Shaky stability. Can't recall how many civilizations that is.

Four. It's sufficent after Latin American civilization are born, which is around 1820 AD.

That half explains why Korea dipped out of me after every post colonial civs spawned.

Ok, Secularism at sociology completely caught me off guard. Now the civic is actually worth.
Sadly now Egalitarianism is much more later. Ah, fair. Egali is broken with some civs.

Still somehow confused on respawn rules. For example, on my several plays the Turkestan never respawn after Mongolian collapse, even if all cities in Transoxoana and Persia were contolled by minors. But they always respawn as I turned to play Iran. It seems that respawn is player-deterministic. Another example is that Maya were fully controlled by minors in 600 AD, but they don't respawn either. (Their respawn are available till 800AD, so I assume there will be a check on 700AD around) . May anyone have some idea on why respawn not happen with full minor control? The code is in Resurrection.py, but I still have no idea after reading it.

Yes, they are player determined. The most egregious one is that player Byzantium is unable to prevent an Ottoman spawn, but if AI Byzantium does not allow a SINGLE anatolian city fall to the turks, Ottomans will never spawn.
IMO, a bit crap.
EDIT: Granted, AI byzantium doing that is extremely rare, because the AI does not prepare well against the arab/turk invasions.

I'm starting to realize why people adore Persia...

Question: Does Conquest increase the Stability points you get from conquering cities?

Yes.

Man, i know i shouldn't share every single victory i do every now and then BUT DANM, THIS WAS ENRAGING.
GOD I'M SO PROUD OF MYSELF.

EDIT: For extra, let's see how long does this (half) of the Empire i've created will last. Will it reach the 600 AD mark?!
