Pre-Turn: MM Jerusalem to get it to max production and growth. This gets Jerusalem KT down to 19 turn (it was at 34 turns). Adjust so all of our cities our growing. In other words I remove a lot of the scientist. Set slider at 1/7/2. Coventry is at 10 spt with library in 4 with no wastage.
Note: I plan on maximizing our population.
IT: Americans are building KT.
1@530 AD: Hastings switches to Aqueduct. Canterbury is at +10 food with growth every 4 turns.
IT: Zulus ask for MA versus the Germans, we decline. India building KT.
2@540 AD: Zzzz
IT: India and Germany sign an MA versus the Zulu. Spain builds Sun Tzus. Germans building Leos and KT. India building KT. Zulu building Leo and KT.
York Aqueduct>Worker. Snottingham Longbowman>Longbowman. Oxford Library>Marketplace.
3@550 AD: Set slider 0/8/2 after trades. Snottingham switches to harbor for trade route.
America: We get Silks, Incense, 19 gpt, and 19 gold; we give Theology.
Spain: We get 2 gpt and 31 gold; we give The Republic
Germany: We get 4 gpt and 43 gold; we give Theology
India: We get 1 gpt and 47 gold; we give Theology
IT: Coventry Library>Marketplace
4@560 AD: Zzzz
York Worker>Library
5@570 AD: Zzzz
IT: America completes KT. Cascade to Leos.
Jerusalem switches to Leos.
6@580 AD: Zzzz
IT: Canterbury Library>Longbowman
7@590 AD: Zzzz
IT: Snottingham Harbor>Galley
8@600 AD: Zzzz
IT: We get this:
Followed by this:
Bombay switches to Temple and I begin starving the pop.
9@610 AD: Zzzz
IT: Hastings Aqueduct>Marketplace. Barbaria Courthouse>Library
10@620 AD: Zzzz
Notes:
-At our current settings we will overrun Education by only 2 beakers! So I would suggest not changing any scientist.
-Jerusalem will grow in 3 turns. Once it does take the citizen off the irrigated tile and move him to one of the mined grassland. Make sure the new citizen also works a mined grassland. This will put us at max population making 17 spt. Once a worker is free we should mine the mountain to make it 19 spt.
-Next turn after Education is learned switch Canterbury around. Currently I have a taxman and a clown so we dont waste beakers. Putting the citizens to work on the watered floodplains allows Canterbury to have seven scientists if we wish to go that way (with only 1 spt). If we prefer keeping Canterbury productive we can still do that and keep several scientist.
-Liverpools northern tile is a floodplain tile and has a worker building irrigation there.
-Starve Bombay down to 1 pop than use the watered tiles to build it back up.
-Snottingham has a harbor and is currently building a galley. I would suggest we use a couple galleys to get known water routes to Germany, Zulu, and Spain so we can trade luxs.
-Water York so we can get it to max pop ASAP. Currently I have a worker in that area doing just that.
-We need to build libraries and marketplaces.
Comments/Rant: I havent looked at the past couple of saves so was extremely shocked when I started my turnset. Several times it has been mentioned that for a 20k game the 20k city needs to stay at max pop and be at max production. When I began my turnset Jerusalem was at size 11 and shrinking and had two citizens set at scientist! What in the heck are people doing? Come on people, please pay attention! In your 20k city never set a citizen as a specialist when they could be working tiles, at least when something other than wealth is being built.
In 430 AD York would finish the aqueduct in 14 turns and it had two scientist! I adjusted it where it would complete the aqueduct in 8 turns (shaved off 6 turns) and kept it at zero growth. By the time I started my turnset York was no longer building an aqueduct (instead a marketplace) and still had the two scientist! As a matter of fact there were several size 2, 3, and 5 cities with scientist! Why on earth would someone have a size 2 city with a scientist? In my experience (I dont have much to be honest) I always get cities at maximum pop before I start relegating them as specialist, never at size 2 and 3. And those same cities had no growth at all in the past 10 or so turns!
I apologize if I have offended anyone Im just shocked at how this game is going. Maximizing population and production is typical in most games and it just doesnt seem to be happening in this one at all. I also wonder if everyone in our team knows how to play a 20k game?
I removed nearly every scientist (except Canterbury), did a few trades, worked a few tiles, raised our pop, and will still got Education quicker than what it was set at with all the scientist in every city. Canterbury is on watered floodplain so it makes a nice science farm or money farm for that matter.
I went back and reread some of the write-ups and noticed where Leha stated he slowed down production in Jerusalem to time our pre-build with Sistine. The way it looks once Theo was learned and the pre-build switched, production was not set back at maximum.
Again, I apologize for the rant it just seems not everyone is familiar with 20k games.
@DBear: You're up.
