DBear02--Jerusalem

madviking?

Just wanted to let everyone know that from Thursday (Aug. 28) until Sunday (Aug. 31) my wife and I will be out of state visiting family. I won’t have internet access nor civ availability until sometime late Sunday. Please skip me until than.

Wow! Go away for the weekend and come back to find I'm still the last poster!

Well, here's the roster just in case.

DBear
Aegis Shield
leha
Lullaby
madviking- Up, still
Darwin420- On Deck
methos- Groaning about going back to work after having the week off

I'm currently participating in 3 SG's where out of initial 6-7 players only 3 players actually play.

Really sad.

0- looks good
1- upgrade some catapults
2- upgrade a trebuchet
IBT: Bismarcky cancels RoP
3- Jerusalem Shakespear's -> Cathedril, Newcastle market -> courthouse, Spain made Newton's :sad:
4- Coventry cannon -> cannon, Liverpool aqueduct -> market, Jerlusalem's up to size 16.
5- nothin'

Whoops. I kept waiting for Darwin to take it. Totally forgot he dropped out of this one. I need to stop looking at the roster on the first page. Oh well.

Here's my 'I got it'. I probably won't be able to play until Thursday night though.

So it's five turns now? Works for me.

Not my decision in the end, but 20k game turns tend to be quick, so 10 turns per turnset would still be ok.

Pre-Turn: Adjust slider to 7/3/0 (Steam still done in 1 turn with +287 gpt). Cancel several worker actions to get them back to Jerusalem. Jerusalem needs to watered to get it at max pop.
IT: Spain declares on Arabia. Steam Power>Industrialization. Barbaria Marketplace>Harbor.

1330 AD: Set slider at 0/8/2
India: We get World Map, Incense, and 28 gpt; we give Steam Power.
IT: Coventry Cannon>Cannon

1335 AD: Jerusalem rushes Cathedral. Brighton switches to Temple. It’s having happiness troubles. Join settler into Jerusalem.
IT: Pollution strikes near Jerusalem. Jerusalem Cathedral>Harbor. York University>Harbor. Canterbury Forbidden Palace>Library.

1340 AD
IT: Barbaria Harbor>Barracks.

1345 AD
IT: Jerusalem Harbor>Marketplace (pre-build for factory). Coventry Cannon>Med. Inf.

1350 AD
IT: Spanish wipe out Arabia. Pollution strikes Jerusalem again. York Barracks>Bank (pre-build for factory). Oxford Uni>Bank. Leeds Harbor>Worker.

1360 AD
Bombay Uni>Bank. Barbaria Med. Inf.> Med. Inf.

1365 AD: Set slider to 1/7/2
IT: Canterbury Library>Marketplace. Newcastle Courthouse>Uni.

1370 AD: Set slider at 2/6/2
IT: Industrialization>Electricity. Switch Jerusalem to Factory. Snottingham Cathedral>Bank. Hastings Cathedral>Bank.

-In two turns switch one of Jerusalem’s citizens to the mountain so we don’t waste as many shields. That’ll still give us growth in four. After growth get off the mountain so we can grow every five turns.
-We just got Industrialization so whoever the next player is needs to check trades see if we can get a little cash.
-Estimated win date is 2010 AD.

I was amazed that both Jerusalem and other cities didn't have marketplaces. We need to work on our infrastructure to help our cash flow and research abilities.

Here's the save.

Got the save. Will play tomorrow.

0) 1375: Ok, WHY doesn't Jerusalem have a coliseum yet? We're going for 20K, people. Jerusalem switched. Why hasn't the capital been moved? We need palace prebuilds. If those Germans would connect the coal by Brandenburg we could trade for it... Trade Germany Industry for National, spice, fur, horse, 8. Trade industry to Spain for 57 + 20/turn. Turn science up. Move workers to mine BG 2ne of Jerusalem. That way Jerusalem will produce over 20 shields/turn. Move regular knight from Newcastle to Canterbury to upgrade. Leet knight remains.

1) 1380: Barbaria settler-->factory. Leeds worker-->rax. Rush temple
in Brighton--I still don't know why a city was built in that gawdforsaken land.

2) 1385: Houston lib-->worker. Liverpool market-->lib.

3) 1390: Brighton temple-->rifle. London is now producing 23 shields/turn.

4) 1395: Dover aqua-->harbor. Workers chop forest nnw of Canterbury.

5)1400: Reading built in jungle lands sw of Liverpool. Have workers
heading to that area to clear. Reading starts temple.

6) 1405: Germans pick up commie.

7) 1410: Canterbury market-->worker. Coventry bank-->factory. Houston worker-->manowar. Have we had a GA yet? Upon research, none
of our wonders are ag. Suffrage and Hoover are, so we can try to get
one of those to kick off our GA if our menowar don't find any privateers.

8) 1415: Canterbury worker-->uni.

9) 1420: Workers clear jungle on way to Reading.

10) 1425: Oxford market-->grain. Turn lux down to 10%.

Next turn we will pick up Electric. Research med as fast as possible,
so we can get to sci meth and Darwin. As soon as Jerusalem finishes
the factory, switch it over to Suffrage.

Either Suffrage or Hoover will get us the GA. When London next increases population, give it the mountain tile that Hastings is currently working. London will then be producing 39 shields/turn, if my math is right (26 base + 50% for factory). London will then stop growth but it's already got all the population it needs. According to CivAssist, we can now win in 2003 if the game goes that long. Looking ahead, we will pick up an additional 6 culture when Sistine doubles in 1510. University will double its 4 in 1760.

No palace moving this late in the game.

We'll lose more culture (doubled palace) then we'll gain by palace prebuilds this late in the game.

Trade WM to Ghandi for WM+17 gold
Trade WM to Bismark for 1 gold

We have no coal? Why am I not surprised?

Get electricity, start Medicine.
We lost spices.
We can get good deals for electricity.
I decide to trade.

Cons:

- This is very valuable tech wich is usually not researched by AI and can be traded very good for better techs than
communism and fascism

Pros:

- Bismark can demand it and than it is no good for us to hold it.
- We can make good income and luxes and boost research to SM.
- AI is not likely to research medicine

Sell electricity to Bismark for Fascism, Ivory, 60 gold, 89 gpt.
Get Communism and insence from Gandhi for Fascism, 100 gold and 10 gpt.
Sell electricity to Spain for Wines, 13 gold and 110 gpt
Set lux to 0%
Research medicine at 90%, get in 6 turns.

1435 AD (2)

York-->factory

1440 AD (3)

Jerusalem--factory-->US
Bombay bank-->rifleman
Liverpool lib-->uni

1445 AD (4)

1450 AD (5)

Spot suspicious movement of german troops.
I decide to pay them for ROP, for any case.
Pay Bismark for ROP 77 gold.

1455 AD (6)

Some german troops enter our territory, I don't think it's something serious.
Set science to 50%, medicine in 1 turn

1460 AD (7)

Germans travel away
Get med, start SM, will be ready in 5 turns.
Whoa, here I'm in the real dilemma.
Bismark is ready to pay 174 gpt for med, lotsa money.
I would leave it for discussion, but I won't have opportunity to play later.
I'm afraid we'll lose the chance later, so I'm gonna trade it.
Sell med to Bismark for WM, 59 gold and 185 gpt
Sell med to Gandhi for 40 gold and 27 gpt
Sell med to Izabella for dyes
Rush factory in Coventry

1465 AD (8)

Pollution strikes Jerusalem, I don't have workers nearby. :(
Spain has Corp.

1470 AD (9)

IT

Horses,furs,spices deals end.

Sorry, but that was a clear mistake.

First, we got two techs we don't really need. Police Stations aren't too important in our small empire, and we will definitely not switch government another time.

Second, the AI is very likely to research the government techs first. The AI will therefore be slowed in their all in all research towards Spaceship and wonder technologies. With some of our culture buildings being built much too late (cathedral, colosseum) we have to slow down research as much as possible. So at this time of the game trading is strictly forbidden if we don't get very very very valuable stuff from it. Luxies and money are nice, and should be the only stuff to go for.

My real reason for trades above all really was paranoy over Germany.
It's my weakness. :blush:

Lullaby--:goodjob: on correcting me on the palace jump. Didn't catch the doubling factor there.
