If anyone wants a crack at it, above is the link to download the Star Wars Mod. You will notice that the mod loads without errors, but once you start a new game and build a city, there is an automatic CTD.

In the worldbuilder on the first turn I've also created a brand new city without any problems. When I exit the WB and double-click on the city (to begin city management) the game automatically exits to the desktop. Again, these "crashes" are just "exits" as they don't involve any popups telling of an error.

So if you think you know what's going on and would like to take a look at it, by all means do. And if anyone thinks they've found something useful (or even discovers the problem) then please let me know!
 
It seems it's the city management screen giving the error, rather than the actual creation of a city.

Are you sure it's an XML failure? Could it be something nasty like a python loop? Something wrong with the sounds maybe?

I don't have enough space on the uni computers for 18MB, so i can't really check myself.
 
Yes I did Lord Olleus, I even showed a couple in a thread and Kael took a look at them, and they don't really seem to be providing the error.

Thanks TGA. The thing is, there is no python so I highly doubt it's a python loop. It's possible there's something wrong with the sounds, but that's highly unlikely since no new sounds have been added, nor have the files been touched, and it used to work before.

There were a few things changed from the 'working' version. The tech tree, units and artdefines, and buildings. But, I took the vanilla buildings, deleted all entries after "Jail" and removed tech reqs as well as era reqs (making them either NONE or converting to a new SW era). And, whatever files having to do with techs (like worker actions and improvements).

I've attached a new version called "SW XML Only" which has the removed art and sound files, so this game will not run if opened as a mod. If you get a chance to look at the files TGA, this is for you.

Sorry - can't see anything wrong in there. Try reverting it slowly back to the old version and see where the crash stops happening.

Modern armor upgrades to modern armor, changed to advanced armor it doesnt crash.

The funny thing is I just IMed my "collaborater" for this mod and thought it might have something to do with unit upgrades, and asked him to remove all unit upgrades.

Good eyes, Kael! :D

It wasn't my eyes. I did the following:

1. Renamed the xml/buildings directory to .old. Result: still crashed.
2. Renamed the xml/units directory to .old. Result: no crash.
3. Put the units directory back and renamed the civ4unitinfos.xml and civ4unitclassinfos.xml to .old. Result: no crash.

After that I put the files back and began cutting units until the crashes stopped. Just isolation. Fortunatly my poor programming skills have given me plently of opportunity to practice my troubleshooting.
 
Poor programming? I'de like to have the knowledge of programming that you have!

It's a shame the logs didn't tell of this. Thanks again Kael, now it works like a charm. I could kiss you!
