Defence Term 2: In defence against Barbarians.

We need another warrior to go ina NE direction so we can scout towards the direction of team Doughnut. I also think it is time that start getting some cities up with great shield potential so that we can start building some defensive and offenseive units.
 
time to build at least 1 UU so we can move it around to whatever city is visible to make it look like we have a huge army :D
 
Classical Hero and Meleager are right.

I was hoping to stick with a more peaceful expansion longer - but the reality is, even if diplomacy goes well... we can't trust them further than I can throw an elephant.
Time to bend our attention a little more seriously to defense.
IMHO – we still need to get some strategic clarity on whether we want to start preparing a war machine – or stick with the peaceful route. But that’s for another thread perhaps.

well considering the abundance of elephants around us i think it is time to strengthen your arm muscles

I prefer not to have any offensive ministers ... especially when we are entertaining guests ;)

Are you happy with the current city production and orders to warriors ?? ... or (if this was a military dictatorship) what would your prefered orders be ???
 
I would prefer Athens to be on a warrior settler continuous build pattern so that we can expand quickly. I am not too happy that Athens is building a curragh right now. I would do that for Heron, with the incorporation of my MM advice for that city, we will be able to get two currughs quickly and a warrior for MP so we can build the city up. I will need another warrior so we can explore to te northeast, because we do not know that area and we have our captial unprotected from that area. This is also good for us to do so that see the terrain and be able to plan our expansion into that area.
 
I agree with Classical Hero (except on the athenian curragh). I also think it may be time to start setting some goals. When should we have a barracks built by? Which city will it be in? We have to answer those questions in the next turn or two.
 
I just posted in Domestic. I think we'll have a barracks built about 22 turns from now in TBH. It can't be built until the City4 is founded. settler factory won't put out a settler for another 7 turns.
 
Yeah I guess holidays are over ... the playground is starting to get crowded ... I'd support whatever the fastest solution to get a barracks build which will not interrrupt the settler-warrior factory of Athens ...

I have strong faith in our entire team ... I feel secure that every facet is scrutinised when topics are discussed ... even disagreements and complete lateral leaps are constructive ...

I haven't seen any discussion of escorting that KISS/Celt warrior that's exploring down our Ivory Coast.
Last turn I made the impromptu decision (in keeping with the last orders I had from Classical Hero) to keep heading North – and try to find the KISS homeland.

However, this is really a matter that the Defense Department should have more say in. Which would you rather do with our Western (Ligurian Reapers) warrior? Head North along the coast or escort our new KISS friend and keep an eye on him?

I have the turn, and expect to play it about 4 hours from the time of this posting.
 
I think that we should let the KISSingCelt wander as he wishes. That sets a precedent for them to allow us to explore their homeland as well, which we could initiate now.

Alternatively, we could ask the warrior to not venture further south of the River that deltas into the Ivory Bay. We could mention that we will also repect a geographic boundary of theirs if they wish.

If we escort him, I'm not sure what we would gain. Yes, we'll know where he is at all times, but we'll also lose those turns we could be devoting to exploration.

Are we nervous they might reneg on peace and sack a city? We'll have a couple more warriors by the time he gets here.

no seriously, i think it is better just to let him wander. Better for trust and they will think twice before attacking us (potential alliance and all). Do we know which corner Kiss is from? (couldn't be bothered reading the entire diplomacy transcript)
