Citizens,

The current war with Rome has more than demonstrated our overwhelming military superiority. Rome represented our most immediate threat, and paid for that affront.

Our most immediate threat is France and Persia. They share our continent with us, and pollute the land with their endless cities and barbaric ways. Even the example of Besancon has not caused the French to change their ways.

I wish to propose the following plan - the complete eradication of any and all cities save our own on our Continent. Germany refused to leave this land, and paid for that with the elimination of their civilization except for the descendants of captured workers. Rome, France and Persia should be presented with the same choice.

This plan starts with the continuation of the war with Rome until all Roman cities on this continent are destroyed. We then turn our attention to Persia, and remove them from this continent. France, of couse, is next.

Simultaneously, we draft and adopt a new law - the Homeland Ecological Restoration Effort - HERE. HERE is our land. HERE is where we live. HERE will prevent the casual destruction of the land we see in foreign lands, as they grow and grow and grow to mindless and needless sizes. This law will permit the minimal construction on this continent beyond our territory, but no more. No foreign held cities are permitted once we cleanse the continent.

The leaders will be obligated to declare war upon any nation that dares found a city on our land. This declaration need not be immediate, but all deals must be cancelled if possible, nor may new deals be established until the war is concluded. War must be declared as soon as there are no active deals with that civilization.

This continent must be protected from the abuse of the other civilizations, and we must do it!

Agreed. I am starting to see the light after I realized that I sponsored this very same idea during my Term 2 presidency.

Best thing to do would be to have sentries at all coasts so that we may remove these foreign "threats" while they are still Settlers. Also, with the lawlessness that will no doubt ensue beyond our borders, we need to make sure to protect our road network (especially to colonies) from insurgent camps. However, we should not patrol the areas too thoroughly, or we won't be able to claim the head price for bringing these thugs to "justice."

Wow. I hope this thread is a joke..

As you have consistently misread the capabilities of our troops, may I ask why you hope this?

EDIT: It may be that you have misread the humorous intent behind a combination of role-playing and game strategy.

HEAR! HEAR! I'll drink to that! I too thought that was the plan as discussed earlier. When I saw the timing for attacking Rome was right (after reviewing the supplied info and maps), part of that was the situation with Persia. I'm not sure what shape Persia is in now, but back in 2005 the windows for taking out Rome and moving on Persia were lined up (as far as strenth and opportunity).

Ethnic cleansing sounds so much better when Ravensfire talks about it. You war-mongering kook. :D

Hey! I resemble that remark! I'll have to review the save, but Persia is sitting nicely exposed, having spend much of her strength taking out Germany and Rome. Unfortunately, this laudable effort was shown to be FALSE! Persia acted not out concern for the impact of Rome and Germany upon the land, but to spread their filth even farther! No more! We are aware of their ways, and must act to show them the falseness of their beliefs.

We're doing nothing more than acting out of environmental concern over what the unrestrained growth patterns the other civs have shown. We're going to safe-guard this continent from their over-zealous growth and destruction!

Eventually (Tanks!), we will need to show the same concern over the misuse on the other continent. Why, can you believe that our intelligence suggests that two nations have spread their filth over most of that continent? The horror!

(Why yes, I AM having fun with this!)

Nah - overwhelming force. We have a nice, large group of cannons that were used to weaken the Roman defenders significantly. Cavalry against Muskets, even in a large city, is a fairly good bet. There were several retreats, but I would say the success rate was well over 75%.

Going up against them with Knights and Crusaders would have been a bit different, and I would have proceeded much slower. Rome had also used a great deal of it's force against Germany, leaving it vulnerable to us.

The Roman attack on Germany helped us considerably in our efforts by drawing many of it's troops and particularly it's Muskets out of their cities and into the open land where they were far more easily beaten by our troops. Cavalry and Cannon made all the difference, Kights/trebuchet as our main force would have been a very different story, but once we gained the upper hand strength wise, our numbers overwhelmed them. The Persians are a different matter. We are strong to them and they have no iron (or didn't for a long time) or horses. We must keep it that way and prevent the Roman horses from being settled. The majority of the Persian forces are Archers, easy prey to our Cavalry. There will be a lot of Archers that they will be able to replace quickly (until we raze their cities), so we will be kept busy, but now is the time (or when our deals expire anyway) to move on them before they upgrade their troops further.

It is satisfying to see that others are beginning to see the light on how to ensure our nation's ultimate world dominance. Indeed, let us purge our landmass of heathens from sea to sea, colonize all the bountiful resources, and safeguard the wide open spaces so our children and grandchildren and all their descendents may make it their playground!
