Definitive Byzantine Empire

Actually I thought the Fireaxis stuff wasn't badly done, as hand-drawn graphics go. Had the game designers not been looking for generic Mediterranean and European, etc graphics, I'm sure they'd have been better.

Don't fret: your cities are excellent little works of 3d art, somewhat like visual haiku; and I agree that this latest set is your best to date. I particularly like the mix of roof colors. I look forward to more.

I think that the Firaxis city sets were 3d as well, they just did not produce very large/clear buildings, but a larger variation than the ones in my own. This set has 10 different buildings, and i suspect the firaxis ones had around 15. But then again those producing the firaxis sets were paid, and did this for a living, while i am creating these as a hobby in my free time :)

Just bumping to note that there won't be any more gfx by me. I might create some for civ5, but this forum has become rather ungratefull and i dislike this.
I will keep the ones posted as they are, no need to fear for any changes there.
See you, hopefully, in civ5 :)

Sorry to hear, but your feelings are comprehensible. For shure it is also funny just to pimp the game for self-use, but it's still way better to share it with community and receiving some feedback.
:shifty:
It is shurely not because of your work's quality, that there is no (or rare) feedback. These citysets are simply brilliant, but how many people come here to the C3C-section of the forum anymore...? They're all gone to Civ4/Civ4Col - including myself I, I just come here from time to time "for ol' times sake"...

See you, hopefully, in civ5 :)

Yeah, it will be a pleasure to see your works in Civ5. No question, that your work will receive that kind of grateful feedback it deserves then.
Would love to meet your HRE cities (and others as well) again in Civ5 :crazyeye:

"Ungratefull"? Where's a Bleeding Heart Of Jesus emoticon when you need one? :(

Seriously, I'd like to know how you measure gratitude? By " "? By usage (my Freddy The Great scenario is laden with your work)?

I, for one, will greatly miss your work.

Oh, well, maybe we can establish a Writers' Colony somewhere between Thessalonika and Bologna ...

 ,

Guys, i just did not want to be specific about what drove me away, it wouldnt be polite.

To be clear: yes, many people here were very supportive, and i thank them for it :)

I really hope i can continue making gfx for civ5, and will see you there ;)

What awful news! I was hoping to see more from you here. I hope you still get the itch from time to time to make more Civ 3 cities; there will still be a lot of people here even after Civ 5 comes out, and certainly during the next year or so until it's released. To go all that time without a new creation from you would be sad....

Sad to see you go Varwnos... you and your work will be missed.

---- But:

The forum (all of us) are ungrateful? What the hell does that even mean?

I have absolutely no clue as to what kind of gratitude you are looking for. If you expect christmas presents to be sent to your house, that will not happen anywhere from a forum. It's fairly straightforward that Civ 3 isn't jam packed with people to give more 'Hoorahs' or info when you do something.

Like I said, you should do it because you enjoy it. It seems you do not enjoy any of the graphics you do... I hope the Civ 5 forum fills whatever void is currently present.
