Deity challengers

So I started playing a few turns and had to stop as I had an interesting development. Namely this:

Yeah, he's got caravels. Fortunately, it opens up this:

Civ4ScreenShot0030.jpg

He hasn't met the other nuts on our continent yet:

So I'm tempted to trade currency for calendar. We have silk and incense in our borders so it seems like a no brainer. I only paused since there was some concern about hitting WFYABTA too soon. Also, we have literature now so we need to decide where to build HE and NE. HE in Moscow seems reasonable with 2 GG and good production. NE, I think we debated Novgorod and St. Pete's. I think St. Pete's is better as it can run 7 specialists at food neutral whereas Novgorod caps at 5.

Edit: I also just realized that music GA is still open. I'm halfway through drama (1 more turn) so I think it's better to finish drama for the 20% discount and then tech music. Paya was also built (no way chopping would have made it in time) so we have enough cash for now.

Awesome news Shyuhe!!!
AC is even resisting the other budddhist nuts :hammer: Hopefully Lincoln will meet them soon so he can be targeted...

@Shyuhe: Can you post a save so we can comment a bit more before you go on :)

Cheers,
Ras

Nice,

NE must be in best food city so st Peter seems right
Take the trade for calender
HE should go into capital, since we don't build NE we can still build oxford there
No reason not to take a shot at music next

Is the wine good Dirk? :mischief:
I guess it's a typo (or it's me who is drunk)...

edit: I agree with your other comments though

What is this!???

No -4 for "You traded with our worst enemies 3000 years before we even met each other!" ?

Ohh... He hasn't met the other nuts on our continent yet:

So that explains it. Very lucky you guys...

If you build HE and NE in capital you can't build Oxford there, that's what i meant. I'm at work now unfortunately and a bad day it is. I'll certainly catch up on the wine tonight .

I vote a new accronym here. WEB -- Worst-Enemy-Bug. This is without a doubt the longest running and worst (Worst Enemy Bug) in the box.

OK no pb ;) I hope you didn't mind my humour... that's just how I am
Hope your evening will be better ;)

edit: I am more fan of NE/Oxford in St Pet or Novgorod ofc

Hey, I just noticed another old bug there. You got +1 for sustained peace, despite you hadn't even met the guy for a whole turn yet! WTH happened there Firaxis?

I just love dis game!!

I played through drama and music. We are now the proud owners of a GA, narrowly beating out Monty of all people.

Monty asked us this:
Civ4ScreenShot0038.jpg

Which I accepted for diplo. Of course AC vassalized to Brennus the very next turn... oh well. At least that opens up this:

Civ4ScreenShot0040.jpg

Lincoln makes a crazy demand (sent packing):
Civ4ScreenShot0039.jpg

We can whip the NE to completion, which I think we should do to fix the timing of the GP coming from Moscow and Novgorod. I haven't started the HE yet as I was busy building research in the race to music. The barb city is almost ours. We should build a settler in the capital to go grab the silver and fur - we should be able to sell the fur off.

Looks like we're winning.

Wait after my set to post that ;)
I see the save, will got it tonight (with comments and hopefully a plan for next turnset :D)

Raswtf -> up!
Rusten -> on deck!

Nice turns Shyuhe (will change the spy being run though and the scientist in gold city -isn't the grass mine better?-). :)
Will go on with our plan: next turn, bulb philo, start GA, Max scientists in buddhist cities...
Trading bureaucraty: currently only Lincoln will share it for for drama and music. BUT he is Monty's worst ennemy. I'd rather wait a few more turn to avoid the penalty (Monty hasn't decided yet who to attack next). What do you think of this trade?
Other option is to not trade for it, would take approx 8 turns though :(
Builds: a settler for the silver, some more missionaries, courts, theaters? Some more workers if needed but I 've haven't looked precisely at our workforce yet...
NE: I would NOT whip it as it would hamper the number of scientists we would run in pacifism... I'd rather keep the city at his current size.
Markets: I guess they are worth it in the coastal cities they are started. They will give 2 happiness, more if we can trade for some more ressources.
After bureaucraty is in, start on paper?

Do I miss something? Thoughts, comments welcome! :)

Cheers,
Ras

I'd partially research Philosophy and trade the rest from Lincoln. We have met Monty longer enough to minimized the trade with worst enemy thing.

Start GA after trading CS.

philo against music then I guess? I didn't know the penalty for worst ennemy get lowered with time :)
Hopefully Monty or someone else will share CS in this case...
OK to wait for bureau to start the GA (was dumb :D)

Sorry about the spy, that's the governor at work.

We have enough workers at the moment. We may need one or two more once we get CS but it's unlikely, as we just have to build more farms and whip if cities are working unimproved tiles. Or specialists.

If we're going to trade for CS with Lincoln, which I would, then we can enter a GA pretty soon. As long as the trade for CS isn't lopsided, we shouldn't pick up worst enemy modifiers from Monty at this point. Also, try to buy more peace from Monty if possible. He's pleased but can still declare on us.

The only reason I suggest whipping the NE is to even out the GP generation. If we complete the NE and run lots of specs, then it'll pop a GP first before two of our other cities will have a chance, and it'll take forever for them to catch up. I'd pop a GP in the crab city, then Novgorod, then St. Pete's.

Markets are worth 2 :) right now. So I'd build them slowly.

I would bulb philo and trigger a GA while trading for CS. We'll probably get CS partway through the golden age, at which point we can add bureau. We can research paper by hand, and double bulb education or part-bulb education + liberalism. I think we need to figure out what we're going to try for with liberalism here.
