Overview:
A website for the game of democracy has long been running - however, recently (April) we turned to a new layout. This was a CMS, or a Content Management System. It allows for easier updating and easier accessibility and navigation. In some ways, it is like a multi-user blog.
Anything related to the demogame can be posted from election information to current events and even turnchat summaries full of screenshots. It is very adaptable. Starting off, the only two categories are Current Demogame (DG6) and Past Demogames (DGs 1-5). The Past Demogames page is really just a link to the old site, however the Current Demogame page(s) are up and running. We could even have sub-pages for users to post screenshots and data, or for government officials to have their own page, or for role playing. As you can see, there are limitless possibilities. Onto the website itself...
Why have a website?
- It is a place to have a centralized point for information.
- It can be used as a quick readup for what is going on for people with limited time who can't be bothered to search the threads in the forums.
- To bring attention to current issues and links to discussion.
- To be a one-stop-shop for statistics and screenshots. This could be a very effective alternative to the current, lacking information Information Office. Anyone could be able to share and find information easily and all in one place.
Comments, Suggestions, Criticism and Help
Think the website is lacking something? Want to help out in some way or give a suggestion? Post it here - this is the only way we can know what you truly think about it. If you are willing to help or work on a specific section, great! We can always use new hands. Any suggestion from what font we use to the logo to the way we present information (too matter-of-fact? Should it involve more role play (1st hand accounts)?) is greatly welcomed.
As you can see, I am very excited for this and have big plans for it. I hope for the first real time in demogame history, a website will all have some use. Thanks for reading!
