Department of General Musings

It is in the Main forum. I posted a comment further down in post 4 or 5. Basically stating that we are gonna need adjusting from our anarchist state to one where voting happens once we get conquered ;)

Was anyone going to write up some explicit (I used that word to excite the Admiral) instructions on how to go about finding, downloading, opening up, saving, and reposting a save for those of us who are PBEM challenged?

I think Daghdha got it right, so anyone who wants to give it a try: go ahead!

I played a decent number of saves myself, the one thing I am scared off is messing up diplomatic stuff... I have avoided those saves.

The diplo stuff is the strange part of the equation. Maybe Tubby can add to the diplo stuff and then Daghie can edit his fine explaination so I can add it to the "Stupid decisions" summary thread.

By the look of the power curve TNT is giving Nuts a hard time. I'm starting to have bad dreams about Nuts caving in and filling TNT's tech hole with stuff that we have worked on. If Nuts ends up having to choose btw being erased or giving TNT what they've got they might choose the latter and that would be a bummer. If they fight and die w/o caving in to any demands, then everything is ok, but let's assume they don't. Could we provide them with a plan B going like this: "If you are about to get whacked by TNT and see no way of turning the tables, would you deny them any demands and rather abandon your cities and move buissness to a town that we gift you? We would accept not to make any hostile moves vs. D-nuts in xx turns. You could then participate in any possible future attack on your sworn enemy. We, Celts, are offering this generous proposal in an effort of preventing TNT from getting techs that was not ment for them to have".
We would of course inform MIA of this (I've already spoken to fe about the idea) and let them gather a force big enough to raze the Nuts as soon as they've installed themselves on Our continent. They would like that very much since they're pi55ed of by Nuts refusing to answer MIA's pm's.

It's a good idea, so we'll be able to kill TNT easily later. I like it, but:

Isn't that just too evil?

No. :D

I don't think Nuts would agree to any of this without our promise to leave them alone for a while so best way to ditch dem, not breaking any deals, would be to let MIA do it. Fe has posted the idea in MIA forum.

Also I've gotta KISS up to someone just in case the Doughnuts get fried.
This might suggest they are actually in a bad spot over there

Great thinking Daghie I like it. My guess is they will not cave since there is soooo much bad blood against TNT but if it comes right down to it that is a viable solution.

Best thing is of course if they go down fighting and defiant. One less opponent and TNT stuck with no techs and a continent to defend :D . This proposal to Nuts would be our offer to them in a worst case scenario. We would naturally add that we hope that it doesn't come to that but instead they're able to teach TNT a lesson about good manners (not that they would know anything about it but anyway...).

I think this is a great idea. The timing must be executed properly. Like down to their last city and their last two defenders.

I'm not sure on why timing must be so exact, please elaborate Bugs. Only risk I see in this is that we gift Sheitcreek and Nuts make peace w TNT, still having cities left overseas. Maybe this is what you ment?
I don't know how far MIA is from MM but if we have it at that moment we could always ask/demand for Nuts TM before gifting, right?

I'm not yet back, but I have some time and some access so I'm checking up on things.

And let me say...

CIV 4 IS WAITING FOR ME BACK HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, psychotics build castles in the sky, psychopaths live in them and psychiatrists charge rent.

Ah, Booti, I feel your pain. I started trying to play tonight, but I'm every bit as confused as I was the first time I tried Civ3 and have NO idea what I'm doing. I did the tutorial and I NEVER want to see or hear Sid ever again. There's an option to hear him speak "words of wisdom" in regular games, and I immediately turned that to OFF!

Anyway, I hope you'll have some time off to play with it when you return, and I'll be glad to see you back. :)

Hurry home Boots. If I recall you went past Effingham, IL....you're too far from...anything.

It just shows both how great Civ4 must be, and how addicted I am to Civ, when I have the black terrain and floating leader eyes and mouths...and I STILL can't wait to play again!

I'm baaaaaaack.

It has been a long (and strangley productive) week without our little demo game.

I am catching up as best I can so never fear, my comments - rich in sarcasm, light on content - should be back full force any day now.

Toward that end...

Still haven't heard anything from TNT... :mischief:
