Dept. of Turnplay too

Done and done...sent to Fe, Chamnix and Gen. W.
Greetings Greeks:

We noticed your boat off the northern coast of former TNT land. As you may have heard, TNT and KISS were working on a new entertainment idea call 'Trading Spaces.' This fell through in pre-production so we've filled the summer schedule with a new show, "What's Yours Is Mine." There have been rave revues in KISS, though the TNT audience seems less enthusiastic.

As you can imagine, we are excited to begin work on this new endeavor and while we love showing off 'what we've done to the place,' your boat is in the way...

If you're just passing through, great! Make sure you come back in the future to see the improvements to our new ivory laden fish production facility (where your boat is currently).

We just need to know, the movers are coming with our stuff and we need the space to work because security seems to be a priority these days so pikes and trebuchets will need to come along too.

Whomper

P.S. Irongold I just dl'd AIM again so let's catch up. :D

Yes, please contact MIA about this. It's good cover for the galleys and may draw TNT out to block our settler.
This entire team is turning to a bunch of grumpy old men and women. ain't it great! :mischief:

This is great disinformation, well kind of. We will be settling there just not in the next few turns.

re: Simpleton: That's the way it was inherited. I could build a wonder there if you like. I'm not building more pikes, edit: but I'll take a look and see what to do with it. We already have enough of those being built and unit support is near suicidal levels. In hindsight, it would have been nice to have chivalry so we could spit out a knight every 2T for 40g.
Is it time to consider the pyramids? There are a few wonders that could be useful here including Leo's and Sun Tzu that could be a fall back.

I've always wanted the pyramids. Leo's and Sun Tzu would be nice. I vote all three.

IIRC, Dunderhead is another powerhouse city. If you want a third... we should probably rush a granary in Polecat (FP) to get a population boost. IIRC, it's size 7.

Any sooth sayers want to take a stab at whether we will be going for a conquest/dom win or culture/space? If the former - Leo or Tzu, if the latter - Pyramids.

I'm thinking domination at the moment. That way we don't have to hurt our buddies the nutters.

I like Sun Tzu.

Pyramids are a bigger help to domination, I think.

Why?

I can understand how a half-price rush of trebs to canon or pikes to muskets or the ability to pop verteran units in our towns would help knock out MIA quickly but don't the Pyramids loose their luster since the towns on the other continent and in the south of the Green Continent will make very quick growth immaterial?

I am but a humble seeker of teh Grumpy knowledge.

(PS keep the words small, I'm slow; I kinda like temples... )

One piece of the domination puzzle is population, so anything that helps it grow helps. And the more people the more cannon fodder, though I doubt it will get that far.

I noticed one thing about naming naval units. It gives opponents an idea of where a specific unit has been and possibly what it is up to.

I missed a golden opportunity last night to spread dis-info. I barged into the D'nut/KISS diplo discussion and not knowing my audience started asking questions that should not be answered in the company of an opponent. Thankfully I was stopped after one, which was not answered. Had we planned this out I could have dropped a real "faux bomb" as I entered the room. Team reaction, "YOU IDIOT", and hilarity to ensue. It could also lend to the rumor all is not well in the KISS ranks.

Should we be talking w/ either TNT (quickly becoming a non factor but a communications conduit nontheless) or MIA I can play the part of the bumbling newb and cough up a big fat, but subtle, lie in the middle of diplomacy.

I live to serve at the highest levels of incapability.

True, but without it, chipchaining is nearly impossible. Right now, without TNT being able to see our ships, it's really not an issue. MIA will certainly see the ships, but none of the names gives away it's mission.

I agree, it makes our opponents effort to track ship movements extremely easy, so I would propose that I scramble the names a bit, particularly now that the ship chain is setup, so that the one or two ships in the lane between the continents always have the same name.

Regarding wonders, we have the following options (not listed in order of preference):

Pyramids: population explosion, can sell all the granerys we already built for some quick cash, won't do anything for the other continent but that doesn't matter.

Copernicus: good for Simpleton, but not sure when we'll get the tech. Would be nice to keep out of the hands of MIA.

Leo's: can build up horseman for a mass upgrade to Cavalry to give us the earliest opportunity to punch a hole in MIA (upgrade cost is reduced from 200g to 100g per unit).

Sun's: All newly conquered MIA towns will have a rax for healing; can sell all the barracks already built for quick cash, won't do squat for other continent holdings, but that probably doesn't matter.

Smith's: free harbors, markets, banks, and Airports. This really works well for commercial civ's who have low corruption and can build courts everywhere. Keeping this for ourselves will deny Donuts a good wonder.

Sistines: with cathedrals, we could reduce lux tax to 0% and will help combat WW, allowing us to stay a Republic longer during a war.

Of those wonder I lean towards pyramids and Leo's.

Grans also give the benefit of better defense when towns become cities along with more specialists, tile flexibility etc etc. "Growth is power."
Leo's is also huge. We will need to start transitioning our military from footies to horsey's. Can Donut pull off a chivalry trade with MIA?

umm, we have a ton of renamed units, including galleys, workers, GS's, and other stuff

edit: looking at the rules, we are not misleading thru any names.

2.4 - Misleading through Renaming

Description: No team or individual is permitted to rename a unit or city with the intent of misleading or confusing opponents.

Definition: Cities can be renamed to names of tech or sums of gold or anything else in an effort to not trade what that opponent agreed to. Units can be renamed to other units and appear to be something else entirely.

Purpose: To prevent the misleading or confusion of another team through malicious use of in-game features.

Verdict: Using this 'feature' or any other feature or exploit that allows misleading or confusing another team is a violation of this rule.

Punishment Level: Once – Red (5-Expulsion and forfeiture of double what was not legally traded)

It appears that this game begain in 10/2005. How many PBEM games has KISS completed?

And thanks again to all for the invite and camaraderie. I thought I had published some pretty goofy spoilers devoid of any useful info but ya’ll take the cake on creative nonsense.

My best work to date...

I think this is the SG where my "How did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln" comment got one of the other members a bit bent about the quantity of spam. Hey, I was just having fun.

BTW, if any of you want a cat (see image in sig) he's all yours. I'm trying to keep the miscreant well and while giving him a pill he sunk one of his canines deep into my finger this morning. This cat's grumpy enough to be the "Grumpy Old Men" mascot.

Hehe...JB see what you've been missing. I moved the discussion over here.
Click Mr. Happy.... :)

I could be wrong about this... but I think we're already running 0% lux... when we go the ivory hooked up, I noted that we ought to be able to get our cities to size 12 w/o lux tax (in peacetime).

@G-man: Am I remembering it wrong, or do you mainly view this as a possible hedge against War Weariness?

Pyramids, Sun's or Leo's they are all great. Citing Charis' 1st Law of Civ - "Population is power" I would still go for Pyramids first.
