Well, it seems that there's a consensus to play out this game as a successions game.

Proposed Rules:

You need Vanilla Civ4 version 1.74 without BtS patch 3.13 to play.
Turnsets last up to 10 turns (less if there's a big decision to be made).
Save and upload the game after the last interturn of your TS.
You have 72 hours to play your set, from the moment the latest turnset is posted.
Leave enough time for discussion before you play your set (approximately a day) if possible.
Provide an adequate log of your actions, it doesn't have to be precise enough to replay, but it should generally mention builds, techs, slider adjustments, great person usage and wars.
Upload the save through the CFC upload system.

And most important of all, be gentle, be civic, and have fun.

Anything I forgot, anything that needs changing?

Sign up here :)

Current roster:

dutchfire - played
Joe Harker - up!
Grant2004 - played
HUSch - played
DaveShack - played

Here and ready to go.

By the way does 3.13 for BTS affect the 1.74 patch civ?
I have managed to get the computer to play civ :) , but it doesn't seem to want to dual install (for the MTDG) :( so if the new patch does affect it, i won't be able to play :(

Unfortunately it does - 3.13 "patches" 1.74 to 1.74 but with a different .dll so it won't load the save :( of course if it is just for one game you *could* do the following:
copy the CvCoreGameDLL.dll of Vanilla to a save place (or just rename it) then reapply the 1.74 patch. When you are done copy the saved .dll over the 1.74 one or reapply the 3.13 patch.
This is awkward but the easiest way if you cannot go dual install and want to play this to the glorious end.
Unfortunately my RL does not allow me to join this so good luck y'all :)

What about direct democracy instead of a SG? Have discussions and polls, just don't have offices or instructions. Or just a Chieftain & DP pool?

My issue is lack of time. RL is going to be crazy until the Saturday after Thanksgiving (US).

Any decent SG has discussion.
For the polls, just posting your opinion, and then adding the votes for the proposals should work out fine.

I'd like to sign up for the SG as well, I'm sure this will function very much like a direct democracy with the small number of players we have.

Thanks ori :goodjob: It seems to work.

Added Grant, confirmed Joe (have you tested if you could open the latest save?). I think we now have enough players to play it out, as it seems we won't need to play that many turns to space victory anyway.

If it's alright with everyone, I'll play tomorrow (estimated play time 14.00 GMT - 17.00 GMT). Try to get any tips, thoughts and other "instructions" in by then :)

I'll try to make it there but I'm shivering from the cold am, the flu struck me.

I know what you're saying, the cold caught me last thursday, I was out till Sunday.
I'm not sure if I'm going to do it online to be honest, but I'll check if you're on msn before I start, and if you're there, I'll do it online. (I'll check mIRC too)

I'm going to start playing, interested people can come to the chat server (#turnchat)

Tech Path: Economics (1 turn), Corporation (1 turn), scientific metho (1 turn), physics (3 turns), Biology (2 turns), Assembly Line (3 turns). We got the free scientist from Physics, and we are now at least 8 techs ahead of all other civs.

Workers: I railroaded a lot, and built some other improvements.

Navy: The caravels are inside enemy borders, monitoring coastal cities. The galleons and frigates are outside enemy borders, also monitoring their coast.

Missionaries: I built quite a lot of Buddhist and Taoist missionaries in Berlin and Coppertown, I think we should continue to do so until the entire continent is completly 3 way converted.

City builds: Domestic builds (granary, library, courthouse, observatory, university, market, grocer, bank). We can now build factories, and we should probably do so in cities building wealth.

The save:

And thanks to DaveShack for joining the chat :) (during turn 10 ;))

Next up is Joe Harker.

Thoughts for the next TS:
Use one Great Scientist to bulb a part of Electricity, the game won't last long enough to make settling/academy building really profitable.

Tech path: Electricity -> Industrialism (build Aluminium mine!)-> Artillery -> Rocketry -> (Radio).

Make sure that there's a good production city (Riversight/Coppertown) with factory + coal plant ready to start building the Apollo program when we finish Rocketry. Keep the science slider high, but (nearly) positive.

Next up is Joe Harker. #

Can I skip a turn, i got a lot of college work to get done this weekend.
