Not true. Each time you raze a city you take a permanent attitude hit from all civs.

I don't think so. I never keep cities I capture, I always raze them. Which would mean that all the other civs would be Furious with me forever, which just isn't the case.

ya, most hate me because im much more advanced than them and my land size and military is much higher. so they get ticked, not for razing france.

Just remember that this will permantely trash your reputation. You'll never get another gpt deal from any AI who had contact with the Japanese.

I can be sure that this does not matter when i sign peace treaties. I cheated Japan numerous times and it still want my gpt in exchange of it's cities. in other circumstances, i have no chance to test this because i have so much money that i never use gpt to trade for anything. instead, other civs pay gpt to buy my goods such as techs and luxs. almost every other civ hates me, but then what? i'm still the most powerful, most advanced and richest civ. having an income of 1000gpt and a total saving of more than 12,000 gold in mid age.
I'm playing vanilla civ3. maybe in other versions this has been modified.

it has. it becomes much tougher to make money and there are more things to spend it on. But things cost less and the computer isnt so pushy.

At least in C3C you can only make gpt deals during peace negotiations once your reputation is ruined. Likewise, the AI will never trade its cities except for peace.

Even with a ruined reputation, you can sell your techs for gpt. You just can't buy techs for gpt. You have to have all the cash up front. If you're the seller, it's better for the AI buyer to spread the payments over 20 turns to keep you honest. If you break the deal after a turn, the AI still gets to keep the tech but ends up paying only 1/20 of the cost.

Similarily, the AI won't pay any lump sum for your resources or luxs when your reputation is ruined, even as part of a mixed gpt/lump sum deal. The deal must be strictly gpt plus any resources or luxs. This hurts the human player because the AI has a strict limit on how much gpt it is willing to pay. It will never create a deficit situation for itself. The AI may have 5000 gold but if it's only generating 4gpt, you can never get more than that 4gpt out of them with a ruined rep.

use military power to get the techs you want. AI will ask for a peace treaty early in the war especialy if their losing and you can get a bunch of techs then and have peace while at war you got more cites and more money.
