Does anyone know of a way of destroying an enemy city once you have captured it (without cheating, obviously!)

When you have taken over an enemy city, there is only one way of destroying it, and that is by building settlers faster than the population growth of the city!!
If you really don't want a city, then you should bring some spies/diplomats along the way and poison their water supply, that way you can get the city down to 1 in pop and when you conquer it, you destroy it.

Rush build settlers in it. when a settler is built a size one the city disbands and I believe the settler become NON units. IIRC other units supported by the city vanish at that time. You need to mange the cities resources to maximize shields and use some rush building, because each time the city drops in size from a settler, the food box becomes smaller and growth becomes quicker.

Really?
cuz whenever i build a settler with a size one city it just stays the same (size 1) any thoughts?

(thanks for the water supply thing though)

You sir are an idiot, and frankly thats supposed to be my job!

A size 1 city will not disband if

A.It is your only city or
B.You are playing at chieftain level.

A good way to stop city growth is to set all the resources squares to Entertainers then build your settlers this can also contribute to the the city size falling from famine.

However this can cause the production of settlers to slow but quick buy them and you got no problems.

A win win situation
