I haven't seen the new episode yet but it's came out last night and I'm hoping to watch it this evening. I was really disappointed in the last season but other than that, I've liked every other season, I think I was one of the few that really liked season 5. Considering how the last season ended, the last season's plot will have to be a major part of this season, which will be a bit different from past seasons in which there was very little continuity. I was actually surprised how little carry-over there was from season 4 to season 5.

From what I've heard there will be an 8th season and that will probably be the last.

I just saw it. The episode is a bit slow but carries a lot of tension. It's a better start into season 7 than I expected.
And there's a lot in this episode alone that carries over from before.

Anything more would be a spoiler.

Well we have spoilers.

Spoiler :
They really tried to trick us this episode because at first it seemed like Dexter was on the run, then it seemed like they would be doing another ordinary season and Deborah would just be stumbling around not knowing anything except that Dexter had just killed one person and then at the very end they hit us with the climax.

It really seemed kind of silly to me how Dexter, considering how it would have made much for sense for him to lay low for a bit, decides to kill the Ukrainian mobster and in an airport, one of the most secure places, with cameras and security everywhere. But I do realize that it made sense for the writers to do that so they could make it seem more like an ordinary episode and to give another plot to this season, and it looks like they are going to do more with the Ukrainian mob plot.

Spoiler :

I first thought the flight scene was a daydream where Dexter considers fleeing.
I really liked the 'game' with Deb. It seemed like he's managed to somehow talk himself out of it, but there'S just so many details that pop up in her head until it all blows over.
The murder was really irresponsible, but it's not the first time that Dexter cracked under pressure. He has taken very high risks in the past to kill when he's under alot of stress, just like an alcoholic might reach for the bottle.

It jumped the shark last season. Which doesn't mean it is bad, but it will never again be as good as it once was.

Deb's confrontation with Dexter better have some sort of real consequence.

I hope that finding out that her brother is a serial killer is enough to kill the whole incest thing Deb had going. I get enough of that from Game of Thrones, thank you very much.

Am I the only on who still suspects Harry might be Dexter's biological father ? We've known for a coupleof seasons that he's had an affair with his mother.

The last two episodes they haven't brought it up, maybe they abandoned the storyline if they listened to the viewers' opinion about it.

Spoiler :
Actually now that I think about it, it's probably the writers' way of showing why Debra would cover for Dexter and keep his secret. Maybe they didn't think family ties was enough, but I think it is considering he's her only living family.

I suspect Deb is covering up for Dex based on their sibling, rather than any possible romantic, relationship.

That and, frankly, if Deb didn't cover up for Dex then we wouldn't really have a show. If Deb chose to drop the time on Dex then he'd be sent up the river. The show would completely change, if not end.

Is anyone else frustrated by how Dexter is right all the time? He's so damn smug about it too. The character is somewhat unlikeable in that regard. I'd like him to be wrong once in a while. (As he was last season in his interaction with the mechanic guy who try to get Dexter into religion. I like that storyline a lot.)

Spoiler :
The elephant in the room that Dexter doesn't seem to acknowledge is that Deb is a police lieutenant so for her to know about his crimes and that he's still doing them is to ask her to be a lot more than just casually complicit. Since he saved her life and was right about the guy being a serial killer it might make her come around to his side but if he's caught people aren't going to believe that she didn't know given her position and she would be responsible.

What was your opinion on the minotaur death metal thing? To me it just seemed totally corny. He even put up a TV with static on it.

Minotaur guy was horribly corny and one of the worst things ever in this series.
But I really like Titus f-ing Pullo as an Ukrainian mob boss. I hope he'll stick around for more than just one season.
I also want to make a prediction
Spoiler :

Batista is so a dead man.

QFT. The whole scene in his house looked so amateurish I thought I was watching a Czech TV series for a moment.

(thanks for making me aware why the Ukrainian mob boss' face looked so familiar. It doesn't undo all the idiotic misconceptions about Ukrainians the series perpetuates, but at least the actor is great.)

Czech TV series look like early nineties music videos ?

I can only hope that the spoilers for the next episode have Dexter getting arrested and put on trial for his crimes.

I'm really getting sick of Dexter, as a person. I think he crossed a line and incurred a karmic debt when he killed Hannah's father. I think that debt will come due.
