DG02 - A Fascist Variant Game

Inherited Turn:
Hati is willing to give us a city for peace!
I'm smitten.
Hati said:
Let's be friends again, plz? ^^
Spoiler A gift for you :

civ4screenshot00003ez.jpg

Umm... i'll consider the offer.
Toku gets clams for 7gp/t
Cyrus gets pigs for 2gp/t
Our deficit is still high enough to make Dubya jelous, but that's alright.
We can stop spending anytime we want. Honest!

*enter*

1:
Hati moves a tank into Spartan lands.
We lose an artillery and an Infanty with anti tank promotion, before another inf manages to kill it.
Naughty Hati!
We suffer a nasty streak of casulties in Memphis, as Hati tries to get the city back. Our defenders hold. Sorry Hati, this is civ4. Our soldiers dream of Cath and are imune to your temptations!
The attacking stack is killed at the cost of one artillery.

That's all i've managed to sneak in today, RL calls! More tomorrow.

don't make peace with her, a city as a gift is a clear sign of weakness, this means we need to go on and takje her cities, at least the core of it. We need to grab the bigger part of the land before going back to Persia (those cities in between are an eye sore)

Don't worry, i was just suprised to see an AI willing to give up cities. Never happened to me before, even if it was very clearly on the verge of destruction!

2:
No counterattack from Hati. Alexandria has only 3 defenders.

3:
One tank enters our heartland and one intrudes in former roman lands.
I just hope the defender in Antium hold. The more dangerous tank is defeated at the cost of one artillery.
We take Hieraconpolis after losing one artillery.

4:
Disaster in Hieraconpolis! Hati takes it back thanks to tank support. :(
We lose 3 infantry and 2 artillery in the battle.
Another tank enters the area near Rome.
Our army is at the gates of Alexandria.

5:
Hati attacks at various locations and hurts our supply lines.
Battle for Alexandria:
2 artilleries bite the dust to soften up the defense.
We take the city without further losses. This means a major loss of influence for Hati and will make reinforcing our troops so much easier.
I lose an infantry to a marine at 92 odds without doing any damage.

6:
Hati tries to take Alexandria back, but fails. She abstains from using tanks this time. Her artillerly is very good at withdrawing, though. *grumble*
We finally learn Industrialism. Halleluia! Full steam ahead to research flight.

7:
Another attempt to take Alexandria back, another artillery withdraws, another cavalry finishes off the artillery.
We are next to Thebes, the capital of Hinduism. A very juicy target, defended by 5 units.

8:
Hati attacks Antium with a tank... and loses. But she moves another tanks into the area. I don't why she is obsessed with former Rome, but it suits our needs.
Damnit, there is a tank in Thebes now.
Two artilleries soften up the defenders and a third takes the tank out of the game.
We are still facing crappy odds, so i sacrifice another artillery.
The next Inf wins without a scratch, even though the odds weren't terrific. Something is fishy about the odds displayed.
We take the city.
Hati now offers a size 5 city for peace. Interesting, this is the first game, in which i have seen the AI willing to give up cities.

9:
We have our first tank! :)

10:
Battle for Hieraconpolis (v2)
It takes 3 bleeding artilleries to even hurt the defending tank. I send in a 4rth to be on the safe side.
We take the city, again.
A 3rd great engineer spawns....

Enjoy!
---------->The Save<----------

got it, since we have a Great Engineer again, we might as well use them, I though we could bag another GA...

save

Pre-Turn
we're #2 in military again, thus need to count units, something is wrong here
then I realize that the link provided is wrong and I loaded the wrong save, check the uploads directory and find the

correct save
ok, so Egypt is down to 8 cities on the continent, not too bad...

decide to increase lux to 40% with 10% science, pretty marginal...

decide to mave a new stack towards Elephantine, this needs to be faster

1. 1851AD
nothing much except moving towards Heliopolis, Elephantine and Lisht

2. 1852AD
Memphis comes online and is mighty unhappy
capture Lisht, we don't need the present from Hatty

move next to Heliopolis and Alexandrine

IT the counter at Heliopolis is heavy, 4 arty are suicided and then Hatty defeats 4 infantry

3. 1853AD
bomb Elaphantine down to 20%, attack with collateral tank
lose 2 infantry, but take city

this takes off the culture pressure off a lot of cities :)
move some units next to Avaris

decide it is better to attack Heliopolis with our depleted units rather then let them take us out
bomb defenses to 0%
take out 5 units and the rest is heavily wounded

IT we lose only 1 infantry at heliopolis, Hatty is seriously gassed, she got only 5 cities left anyway

4. 1854AD
its wounded troops versus wounded at Heliopolis, send in a healthy tank to soften them
defeat another 6 units and the city is ours
suicide 2 arty at Avaris and capture it

Hatty has a mere 3 cities on the continent left, land 4 unis next to Giza

5. 1855AD
3 more cities come online
Arretiums borders expand and the barb archer goes for it, we will lose it

move towards Cori, defended by 5 units
decide to wait for the arty support

start setting up next war againt Cyrus

6.1856AD
attack Cori, soften defenses, 5 units later the city is ours

need to increase lux to 50%, but we shoudln't be at war for too long

7. 1857AD
attack Giza defended by 6 and falls short of 1 defender :gripe:
doesn't matter since we also need 1 more turn to take Karakorum

8. 1858AD
our war-tank machine now rolls without mercy, we are producing them nonstop

Karakorum and Giza fall, time to make peace with Hatty
Well, absolutely hilarious, she is down to 1 city, but peace isn't even worth a tech.
We will come back, don't worry

of course, we need to continue fighting, so Cyrus is next
lose 2 tanks to best odds at Cumae, nevertheless take the city
move towards Sardis and Tarsus, defended by 8 units

reduce lux to 10% and science up to 50%, flight now in 8

IT Cyrus suicides an arty, that's it

9. 1859AD
take Sardis without a loss, move in to Tarsus that will fall next turn
sink one of Cyrus destroyers and the game gets slow, memory limit I assume

10. 1860AD
Thebes is online now, whip a theatre since it's very unhappy
attack Tarsus, lose 3 tanks but city is ours
game stops again for a long time...

we have 2 transports in the north to get to Cyrus, where he has 4 cities

After Cyrus is done with, we should go after Huayna on the way to Toku
this game is now in the bag, I hope we can achieve domination fast

dg021860.jpg

Inherited Turn:
Nothing to do.

*enter*

2:
Declare on the incas.

3:
Huayna's reaction is most unexpected. He tries an attack from sea on one of our cities. Rifles and cannons against Infantry and Tanks + the penalty from amphibious assaults.
He also moves 2 workers into our territory. Mmmmk... don#t drink and play, buddy!
The game crashes. Why does it always have to happen when i don't save?
We capture the worthless city of Ergili. I keep it fro domination score.

4:
We haven't bombarded Ollantaywhusname yet, but i am feeling cocky.
OK, maybe this wasn't a brilliant idea. I lose 3 tanks, but we take the city.

5:
The Incas aren't out of gas yet, it seems. They send a neverending stream of rifles against the newly captured city and manage to take 3 more tanks out.
We learn Flight. Radio is next, for bombers.

8:
Battle for the incan capital:
This time i do it properly and take the time to bomb the defenses down.
After about 12 rifle/cannons die, the city is ours.
We also take Sidon, losing a tank.

10:
I usually wouldn't do this, but as our course is clear i declare on Toku. Might as well use the last round.
The tanks are still in the former Incan capital, in order to protect them from the Japanese counterstrike.

We are only 1.56% short of domination, so i don't expect to get this game again. ;)
It was really tough in the beginning (and god i learned to hate counting units!), but once Hati was out of units it went like a breeze.

---------->The Save<----------

1.56% short, might as well have finished this... :D never mind I will later on...

Pre-Turn
whipped a few theatres in cities that starve, hope this will speed up domination, reduce research and increase lux

1. 1871AD
border expansions bring us to 53.6%
defeat a SOD of Japan and march towards 2 cities, that should be enough for domination
make peace with Huayna

2. 1872AD
dg01victory.jpg

we get a score of 29708

thanks Till, for sticking with this game that was played for a long time by 3 and then 2 players...but we made it. Unit counting is defenitely out for me, but I was amazed that we could win this, it looked too touch at times with Hatty being so big

whooo! great job :goodjob:

Whoohoo you guys won?! :) Sorry for the late late reply.... as you know my gfx card was fried and took me a couple of months to replace it... during that I lost a bit of interest in Civ4 until now that I have bought the Warlords expansion :). Maybe we'll see a DG03 after all... but I'm out of shape, need to practise a few games.
