DGIT # 2-Krafty Koreans

Okay, lets assume we take the whole contient in the next 50-100 turns, which should be managable. Where should we place the Palace and the FP? Looks like we have one, maybe 2 votes for Boston. What about a FP location? Any ideas?

We already have an FP alerum... It's in that good city right near Seoul... The Palace should go to Boston so it's still nearby the Korean Homeland, but it will still affect New Korea till we switch to the superior Communal Corruption. Once we do that we will have a large and propserous empire.

Looks like I'm going to have to change the flag on the DGT page to North Korea's, since we seem so intent on communism. ;)

By the way, who's "got it"?

Eek! :eek:
Okay, I'll pick up the save later today and probably play it tonight...
So, what exactly am I expected to do during my turns?

I'd say keep the suicide galleys going, keep preparing us for the inevitable war on our continent.

Sorry for the delay, I'll pick up and play the save withing a few hours.

Initital observations and adjustments:
MM a teeny bit. See that Newer Korea is in a dire need for some defenders, and move some offensive forces away from the north, towards the southern part of Sumeria. Swith a couple cities from Knight to Pikeman. Switch Hyangsan from Knight to Galley, wasting 6 shields. (Right now it is of utmost importance that we make new contacts.)

IBT:
Sumerians move some Archers and Workers around, nothing noteworthy.
920ad (1):
P'yongyang: Knight -> Galley
Hyangsan: Galley -> Temple
Taejon: Settler -> Galley
Troops move towards Sumeria.
Boston switched from Knight to Palace, due in 73 turns. (Will improve and MM the city to get it quicker, but it's about darn time we get this show on the road!)
New settler sent to Ta-Tu to either join it or settle in the soon-to-be-cleared marshes nearby Karakorum.
Galley in Hyangsan renamed to DeathTrap 1 and sent directly East.
Ancient Cavalry inside Byzantine territory explores a bit.
Let science run at a defecit of 1 gold per turn so that we get Theology in three turns, just when our scientific leader will be reaching Atlanta to build the Sistine Chapel. (The area could use some culture...)

IBT:
Sumerian Archers move east through our territory.
930ad (2):
Atlanta: Pikeman -> Wealth (Gonna need to switch to Sistine in two turns anyway, rather not waste production.)
Manp'o: Pikeman -> Temple (Gonna build lots of temples, so we can get Cathedrals and take advantage of the Sistine Chapel.)
MM some workers.
Move troops around.
DeathTrap 1 continues eastwards.
Anceint Cavalry continues tour of Byzantine lands.
Boston gets a new Knight as MP and is MM'd to grow in another five turns.

IBT:
Sumerians move around a bit.
940ad (3):
P'yongyang: Galley -> Cathedral
New York: Courthouse -> Temple
Cheju: Knight -> Temple
Inch'on: Pikeman -> Temple
Buffalo: Galley -> Temple
The aptly named DeathTrap 1 drowns. =\
Workers MM'd, troops moved.
Galley in Buffalo renamed DeathTrap 2, sent to where its redecessor failed.
Ancient Cavalry in Byz stops on an unconnected source of Saltepeter, to be fortified next turn.
P'yongyang Galley renamed DeathTrap 3 and sent to race with DT2.
Let science run at -3 per turn so we get Theology next turn. (YAY!!)

IBT:
Sumerians move, as always...
950ad(4):
Theology is ours! Set science to Chemistry towards Metallurgy, for our Hwach'a. =D
Atlanta switched from Wealth to Sistine Chapel and rushed by our SGL. =D
Troops and Galleys move around...
Start to evacuate troops from Sumeria, as we are quite ready to start a war with them.
MM some workers, set three to Build Trade.
Adjust science so the economy stops shrinking.

IBT:
Silly Sumerian Archers keep moving around....
960ad (5):
Namp'o: Knight -> Cathedral
Atlanta: Sistine Chapel (WHOOO!) -> Temple
Pyongsong: Galley -> Temple
Taejon: Galley -> Temple
NEWS! Spain has completed the Knights Templar! Couldn't be a cascade, right?
Worker and Troop MM.
Galley in Pyongsong rename DeathTrap 4, sent to race 2&3.
Galley in Taejon renamed DeathTrap 5, send to the western front, for a change.
Accidentally sent DT 3 into treacherous waters with only 1 point of movement. ><

IBT:
Sumerian Archers move north.
970ad (6):
Seoul switches from Knights Templar to Cathedral. <_>
Hyangsan: Temple -> Cathedral
Our cave gets a second floor in one of the little add-on rooms on its sides.
The Galley Taejon sets out westwards in a hope of a new life.
DeathTrap 3, ecstatic at its own survival, sets out east.
We no longer have troops in Sumeria.
An unnamed galley is renamed DeathTrap 6 and prepares to head east.

IBT:
Sumerian Archers move around, heading north.
980ad (7):
Seoul: Cathedral -> Knight
Cheju: Temple -> Cathedral (Cheju is a growing city, and I hope to soon lower the Luxury Tax.)
The Galley Taejon is caught in a storm and is then eaten by a Kraken. ;P
DeathTrap 6 heads east. Hearing of DeathTrap 3's amazingly continual survival, they just can't wait to get to the open sea... Speaking of which, DT3 continues eastwards and still finds no land.
We now have Saltepeter connected. =O

IBT:
Sumerian Archers head northeast.
990ad (8):
Almarikh: Pikeman -> Temple
Seattle: Knight -> Temple
Paegam: Knight -> Aqueduct
Cave's little side houses are now of equal height. =D
DeathTrap 6 is in such a hurry to catch up with DT3, that the crew hits a reef. Upon hearing this news, the sailors upon DT3 are so devastated the imbeciles commit suicide. Sailors... Go figure. =|
Settler reaches Ta-Tu and then I decide to send it to join Boston. =\
Upgrade defenders to Muskets in some locations of strategic and national importance.

IBT:
Sumerians move around. Sumerian Archer steps west, towards our vast groups of workers clearing marshes. If the idiots delare for this, we'll get our workers back easily (they have no escape route) and we will make them pay.
1000ad (9):
Philadelphia: Knight -> Temple
Chicago: Galley -> Aqueduct
Kaesong: Knight -> Temple
ARRRRGH! ME ARE STUPID!!!! GRAHH! Boston had no Aqueduct and here I was, encouraging it to grow... Switch Palace to Aqueduct and waste 10 shields. -.-
Galley in Chicago renamed DeathTrap 7, sent west.
DeathTrap 2 prepares to be finally sent east.
Unnamed Galley on western front renames DeathTrap 8.

IBT:
Miss AI moves becuase of accidentally pressing space before finishing up the account of previous turn. ><
1010ad (10):
Boston: Aqueduct -> Palace
Inch'on: Temple -> Cathedral
Hovd riots. One citizen MM to Scientist.
Darhan: Courthouse -> Temple
Theo is now working on Leo's, though we will nab it in just four turns.
DeathTrap 8 sent west.
DeathTrap 2 sent east.
Another unnamed Galley is found on the western front, renamed DeathTrap 9. Should go west next turn.

Okay, we are pretty much set to go to war with Sumeria. We have a load of troops on our eastern border and in the north as well, once we set our minds and muscles to it, Sumeria is ours. Boston should be carefully micromanaged to get the Palace as soon as possible.
It's vitally important that we get as many suicide Galleys sent out as we can. If we don't make a couple contacts soon, we will be out of friends. We may want to abandon the Gunpowder line for now and head for the seafaring techs... It's not like we really need those techs to take our continent, but to make contact it seems we do have to get to Astronomy and Navigation...
Get yer save here.

Got it, will play as soon as i can, though it looks like im up in 3 SGs :crazyeye:

Sucks to lose the Templar (stupid Spainards! ), but at least we have a pretty church. ;) Sounds like we have a lot of naval explorationg going on, and as a plus we're decorating the ocean floor with our ships. ;)

Talk about a full platter, SK! :lol:

Well, we didn't explore too much, because - perhaps mistakenly - all the ships took the same routes that we has already explored before, netting us very little new info...

:lol: Guess I didn't read hard enough. I think it's wise to stick with the paths we've been trying, though, because they're from the parts of our continent that jut the fartherest out.

I know I messed up on two of the ships that sunk during my turn; I forgot to delay their venture into the sea until the next turn where they'd have all three movement points. Did you forget any, or was it all bad luck?

Forgot just once, and quite surprisingly that one was one of the luckiest ones I drowned, lasted longer than most...
I'm seriously thinking we should head for Astronomy and Navigation at max speed and even run a deficit... If we don't meet new civs quickly, we will never launch that spaceship.

Pre - Turn:

Check everything, looks like we have a fair number of troops ready to party with te sumerians :goodjob: i investigate Bad - tibira and find its only got two enkidnu warriors guarding it, im guessing the majority of sumerian cities follow this pattern so they should be reasonably easy to take out.

Unless they have pikes further in, which would be a pain, i would also expect the capital to be fairly well guarded.

Looks like we are researching chemistry, and it will take 8 turns, once it is finished, ill see which tech out of metullargy and education will be quickest to research, or the most beneficial to us at the time, i know we need to maximise contacts, but we also need this continet for our own as soon as possible.

Im thinking that due to the shape of the continent we are on, and the area we have explored, that if there is a section of the other continent near us, it will be further north than our current attempts, maybe on the far side of the sumerian lands, all the more reason to finish them off :D.

Here Goes:

Turn 1 1020 AD: Seoul: Knight -> Knight.
Atlanta: Temple -> Library.
Ulsan: Galley -> Galley.
Deathtraps 8 and 2 sink :(.

Looks like i'm ready to go, i've moved the troops into position to enter the sumerian lands.

The War begins.

Kill the sumerian archer deep within our territory.
Capture a worker near Sariwon.

IBT: See a few archers move out of sariwon.

Turn 2 1030 AD: Washington: Temple -> Courthouse.
Taejon: Temple -> Aqueduct.

Bab - Tibira is ours now with 3 resistors, injuring a few knights in the process and one retreated but nothing major.

Sariwon and Lagash are ours with 5 resistors each, losing only one knight.

I also kill every single unit within reach of our units. with one loss.

Turn 3 1040 AD: P'yonyang: Cathedral -> Knight.

Entertainer hired for Lagash.

Houston: Galley -> Galley.

Entertainer for Sariwon.

Deathtrap 9 sinks but has uncovered more sea than the previous galley.

Lose one knight attacking erech.

Move troops deeper into sumerian lands.

Turn 4 1050 AD: New York: Temple -> Library.

Wonsan Completes Leo's Workshop [party]
set to knight.

Seattle: Temple -> Library.
P'yongsong: Temple -> Aqueduct.
Chonju: Pike -> Courthouse.

Lose another Galley in the ocean to the west.

Ur is going to be hard to take as it has a pike guarding it and it took a couple of our knights, still working on Erech.

Turn 5 1060 AD: Seoul: Knight -> Knight.
Atlanta: Library -> Marketplace.
Entertainer for bad - tibira.
Buffalo: Temple -> Aqueduct.
Palace expands.

Ur is now ours, with 5 resistors and the Pyramids [party].

Turn 6 1070 AD: Cheyju: Cathedral -> Knight.
Ulaanburg: Pike -> Courthouse.
Hovd: Courthouse -> Market.
Miami: Courthouse -> Aqueduct.
Dalangrad: Pike -> Courthouse.
Sariwon resistance ends.

Entertainer for Ur.

Attack all sumerian units within reach and destroy them.

Turn 7 1080 AD: Philidelphia: Temple -> Library

Lose two knights to an anti - tank ekidnu warrior. :(

Turn 8 1090 AD: Get Chemistry, set to metullurgy, we will need cannons in the near future, as the sumerian defences and the RNG are giving us a hard time.

P'yonyang: Knight -> Knight.
Wonsan: Knight -> Knight.
Nampo: Cathedral -> Knight.

Seattle: Library -> Market.

Get better luck against Umma (home of the AT ekidnu.)

Seoul: Knight -> Knight.
Hyangsang: Cathedral -> Harbour.
Kaesong: Temple -> Courthouse.

Cant seem to take either Umma or Sumer, i suggest the next player builds up a larger force of knights to use against the sumerians, im sure the RNG doesnt like me as i had an elite knight at full health lose to an ekidnu.

Turn 10 1100 AD: New York: Library -> Market.
Cheju: Knight -> Knight.

Suwon founded.

Finally get some good luck. we get a great leader from an ancient cavalry unit attacking Sumer. I use him to build an army in Ur.

I then finish the conquest of Sumer winning us the Hanging gardens and 7 resistors!!

I set sumer to starve to get rid of them.

Next player should finish off sumeria and then build up to take byzantium.

Good Luck Guys.

SolarKnight

Sounds like we're really handing it to those saucy Sumerians. Next up is Sandrock LQ, but he hasn't posted since the seventh... :(

SK, you just kicked some major arse!

hehehe... The last 2 players have just secured 4 Wonders for us, destroyed our closest neighbor, and looks like set us up our own little Thousand Year Korean Riech.;)

Good Luck Sandrock, wherever you may be...

Wow! :eek: I've been away for a bit and two turns go by and... my oh my. Great job! Sumeria will be ours. Sistine's, Leo's. Excellent. Now maybe if we divert some money from our space program into sailing lessons... :crazyeye:

I have two quick comments. On Blasphemous's turn - 940 AD - he fortifies an ancient cav on the Byzantine saltpeter, effectively denying it to the Byzantines. I realize they can't use it yet, but by many people on the boards this is considered an exploit. I don't know how anyone in this game feels about this, but personally I try not to play this way, but I'm okay with it if the team is for this game. Any thoughts?

And SolarKnight - cannons? We get Hwatcha's with Metallurgy. Learn your Korean! ;) They could prove quite effective against the Byzantines.

Techinically your desire to divert funding from space to the sea is considered an exploit since we're going to use them for suicide galleys.:p I somewhat view it like this... Are we changing the game play, or exploiting a known loophole? Not in this case. They can tell us to leave if they desire. The galleys are more explotive because the AI won't send a galley into waters it has even a chance of sinking in, while they AI will cut off our resource if they get mad at us. Those rules most people follow on this board are fine, but I personally feel as long as it's not a known "cheat", or something that will really give us an unfair edge, why not? hehehehe... we're not as good as the people who made those explotive rules. I have enough trouble with the game without tying one arm behind my back.:p Maybe we should figure out our own rules that we won't break, instead of following someone elses rules.

I consider suicide galleys fair game. Hey, the AI can see the entire map from the start. :D
