SAVE

-Oblivion- you could probably play 10 more turns. Sandrock LQ mentioned to play 20 each during expansion...

Two new cities and two on the way. Nice. If we're still prebuilding in Seoul by the time its back to me, I'll leave it be. I'm just worried about happiness and the work we put in.

Heh. I guess I was wrong about our continent. Byzantines too. Fun.

Well actually, i would prefer someone else to take it. I have to play another sucession game turn tonight, and it is already late. I would rather someone else take it, because i won't get to play for another 15 odd hours.

So this is free for whoever is next in the roster..

How many turns should I play? My turn, or continue Oblivion's 20 as well. I'm fine with doing 30 turns this early, and I think I can get us in decent shape.

I'd personally hate to do a write-up for thirty turns, but... Fine with me, but it's Sandrock's SG.

What?! Trying to blast off on your shift? That's the spirit.

I second Smellincoffee. That's a loooong report. I don't mind if you don't, but it's Sandrock's SG. Play your twenty and wait for the boss. :D

Potential Dot Map...
DGIT2_1250BC_DotMap.jpg

I think yellow and dark blue are most important in that order. Yellow will grab both the iron and gold and its on the river. Blue is the fur city. We need lux. Now. Seoul is working on the Pyramids, will grow to size 4 in 2 turns and will riot in something like 8 turns.

Cyan is another source of iron, to get if nothing but to deny to others. Red and light green seem to be logical spots, although, now that I'm looking I would move lt green 1 NE onto plain to save bonus grass.

We have settlers at both orange and red. Pyongyang's next settler needs to head to yellow. Have I mentioned the importance of the yellow site? :D

Comments, please.

That Dot Map looks good. I've gotten a couple of the city cites but America has thrown us off. They had an EXPLOSION of growth the last 20 turns. I played these turns last night, a bit diffently then how it was set up, but got much better results then the turns I'm getting now. I have both saves, around the same point, and wondering which we'd all prefer me to go off. Things are going much diffently with the true game save, then the one I was working on last night. I don't have a full turn log, just a differenty placement with us growing larger. Which would you all prefer I post? I'm about 15 turns into it, and wondering which way to go. And don't worry the yellow sites were the first places I grabed SpikeIt.;)

I think that dotmap looks pretty good SpikeIt :d, i would agree with you on the pointsyou mentioned.

We should get the iron as fast as possible, incase the americans get too big for their boots and decide they want war.

Please people, don't play your turn till we agree on a course of action... We should agree on a set amount of time between turns for discussion, and we should stick to it... =\

I played these turns last night, a bit diffently then how it was set up, ...

Alerum68, I'm confused by what you are are saying. Did you start with Oblivion's save or a different one? Or did you play twice, once before dot mapping and once after? If I'm reading correctly, your first turn was a shadow game. And the second was with Oblivion's save. If so, I think you should only play and post the second. Shadowing is great for learning, and in this case may give us a better start, but I believe in playing the hand you are dealt. It wouldn't be fair to throw away anybody's turns, as this is a team game. I'm sure we'll find all of our turns can be improved upon, and playing our turns, warts and all, will allow us to learn from our mistakes. I hope everyone feels the same way.

Alerum68, please don't take this the wrong way. I don't mean to criticize you. In fact, its obvious you are excited to play this game and to learn from it.

And no matter what, you got us the iron/horse city. Oh yeah!

Per Blasphemous's point, I think 24 hours after a save is a reasonable amount of time for discussion. If the person next is line is set to play, then I don't think they should hold up as real life could step in and make them unavailable a bit later.

But more is fine as well. One of the main reason's I joined this game was Sandrock LQ's advertisements that its a bit more casual (ie, not a hard 24/48 got it, play). Stricter play can be a bit burdensome at times when life doesn't always allow for Civ time.

All I'm saying is it's not fair to play before we get a chance to plan together.

Oh boy, where to begin.....

1: Regarding turns. Everyone will still play 20 turns until we are out of settling space on our continent. At that point, foreign relations will get more interesting. No one should play 30 turns at this point. The log you would have to write should be reason enough not to. Also, you should only play your set of turns once and stick with it, even if you have made a mistake. Start from the save that the player before you finished, and be careful to watch your files on your system. Each file we upload should be labeled with the year and or team name "DGIT" I would prefer that no one play someone elses turns, so that confusion could be avoided. I have no problem with anyone going in and looking at how far we have progressed.

In any event, Alerum68, your turns should start at 1250BC and run 20 turns from there. If you have two sets of turns startin at 1250BC, then post your first attempt. We will deal with any problems together as a team.

2: As far as how long to wait for your next turn, here is what we'll do. Minimum wait is 24 hours. I assume that most of us are at least able to check our posts here even if we don't have time to say anything. It happens to me a lot. If you can wait longer, then thats ok too. What I'm looking for here is roughly 2 sets of turns to get done a week. I am relatively flexible though as I said, and right now running through turns quickly could spell disaster since the early part of the game is crucial. I also believe that we should take at least 48-72 hours after Alerum posts his turns so we can assess the situation after all the confusion.

3:And one more thing, just have fun. I will not be kicking anybody off of this squad regardless of what happens. If you disappear you've basically removed yourself. If you make a mistake, its just that a mistake. No ones going to die(except a few pixels).

And I would also like to make it clear that this game belongs to all of us, not just me. Its only our second game and we are 1-0. If we go 1-1, no big deal. We just start the next game and fix what went wrong the first time. That's the reason for the turn log.

And I must apologize for my delay in posting, I've been running around trying to get a part for my car.

Actually I'll finish and upload the second set of turns. My first one was a shadow game where I played 20 to see about what I had in store for me while I was waiting for Oblivion.

The second one was after Oblivion played 10 turns and passed it on. I kept the seperate, and played each to the best that I could. They were both somewhat different, and my first game didn't really help me on the second. On the first game I got an SGL from learning Philo and was able to rush the Great Lib. The second one, no SGL and so we're having to build it the hard way. Since we started it in Seoul, and that is our settler making city, it's cut back growth slightly. Of course, on my first set of turns I started it in Seoul, so that couldn't be played differently. Namp'o is in different spot, and I had to cram a bit to get the iron/horse city up.

Should I finish the 5 turns I have from Oblivions set of turns, or shall I wait, or do we just want to skip the turns I played, and have the next person take off where Oblivion left off? Any of the above works with me, and sorry for all the confusion, but wasn't sure what to do with Oblivion's 10 turns.

And to let everyone know, whichever way we go, we still are in good shape, with the tech lead, and with the GL being ours, or will be ours shortly. So don't start talking about losses until we loose.;)

Post your turns from the non shadow game, regardless of how many you have played. As long as you got at least turns in, its ok.
